Day 1 @ Pune

Good luck for the Pune Racing Season 2009 to all the Blog Visitors. After a lull , Pune has received showers for the past 2 days which would have rendered the track soft.Lets hope that the rains subside by race time.

Pune race track is usually partial towards the front runners and it would pay to follow those horses which usually hit the front from the word GO. Small time trainers usually land some last minute gambles at this center and it is often seen that a few highly rated Trainers take it EASY in pune. many a time Horses which have have not graced the board in Mumbai , do well here. The reason being the runs in mumbai were dubious and were meant purely to reduce the handicap. Hence the Mumbai form should not be be taken at face value at least for some of the horses in the fray.

Many horses have changed the stables and it is difficult to assess the Horses on the basis of the track work as the sold Horses may have had a set back or could have been disposed off for non performance also.

I would be giving my views on the contenders and it is up to the visitors to shortlist the Horses based on race time odds and the comments mentioned.


1.

Real Dream or Beacon Light.

First named has seen better horses but Beacon Light has a 14 kg handicap advantage. Jockey has to just take it to the front to complete the formalities. However on Jockey merit , Real Dream scores.

Molta Bella may do well in its first outing in pune.

Last Night's Sonnet does not impress where as Es Sider is running over a scurry which is not its forte.

Adams Law is a decent performer but jockey Shammi Khan has just WON , one race in his career.

Cherokee , may be fancied for WIN but at Low odds I would rather go for the negative bet.

Crescendo , can place.

Onus Probandi - Lagad usually tries a few Horses in Pune only.This is one of them. He has opted for Jockey S.Breux , may do well but i would rather skip a bet as Jockey is new to the Track.

Fluent Victory - Both the runs in Mumbai were without track work ?? Did place ONCE , never know what is in store here.Stable mate is also in the fray.

Reslience - well 1000 may be short for comfort as this Horse is a stayer and relishes longer distances but if the front runners tire out and Jockey is up to the task , can surprise. But record of the jockey is bad ( non winner )

Anamika - For the record this Horse is a winner in Pune .Shailesh coming after serving suspension.

Bemisaal - has run some forward races , not much recent track work seen.

First Empire , tracking well may enable the Trainer to Start 0ff with a flourish.

Golden Knight - well bred can make an impression on debut.

Red Dragon - not here.

Rokeby Venus - inconsistent as ever. Off spring of Mr Mellon which does not have a impressive record.

Free Spirit - will be fancied but with these Trainers , one never knows.They usually end with One WIN in a season and that too is achieved after the RIGHT odds are QUOTED.

Asclepieion - reject Horse from Ruia . Was highly regarded as a youngster.Can place.

Polariser - some suspicious runs and then the horse changes stables ? On merit the best here.Should place easily.

Landlord - surprise Winner in its only run in Mumbai. Promotee here.

Wells Fargo - if the horse is taken to the front , can place.


5.

Flaming Ace - looks difficult.

Ikaria - long layoff after the ONLY RUN in Mumbai on 07/02/2009. If all is well , can scare the fancied runners.

Divine - ignore the previous run which was on consecutive race days. WILL PLACE. Can upset.

Prince Lochinva - hacked the field in race 192.Tracking well , can do well again but all depends on the Jockey.

Dancing Glory - consistent 2 nd in Mumbai. Jockey is not reliable for this race.

Romantic impact - Hyped horse.That is all.ZERO performance when fancied.

Swahili - very difficult in this set.

Cavaradosi - impressive Winner , can place.

Weizhou - preparation is not adequate.

Sea of Kisses - Youngster which did well in mumbai in terms races.This being a class 3 race , looks difficult.

Rising Hero - can SHOCK the field.

Indian Summer - at this HANDICAP , MORAL bet for PLACE. Last Win was in Pune 2008.

Oyster Pearl - tracking well , just one solitary race in Mumbai . Can shine.

Avec Plaisir - may need this run to strip fitter.

Schnell - on a Hatrick ??

Red Romeo - will be the rage , at low odds the only option is to have a negative bet .Then look for a horse which will finish in top 3 , there by covering the loss on the RED ROMEO LAY BET.
Getting good odds for place is the sole criteria for a negative bet.

Lago medio - APPU , post accident , appearing in Pune .Not sure of his capability.

Adams Star - purely on weights , can hope to place.


8.

1000 metres , 3 year olds ??

Speed is the essence of this Race not merit / class / pedigree. A bad start and the race is as good as over.


Dictator - should place.

Sea Warrior - long shot for place.

Creme De la Creme - One for the bookies.

Flying Tackle - can surprise.

Fragrances - the sweet Fragrances is likely to the favorite. But in this 1000 metres , i would not risk a bet.

Royal Gesture - Looking extremely good for place.


9.

Spica - Horse , which is asked to perform only in Mumbai.

Escravos - should be in the TOP 3.

Monopoly - may at best place.

Shy boy - 8 year old. Difficult o go for WIN bet.

Ming / Veera Wang - distance is a ???

Call to Arms - the only Genuine contender in the race.

Red Indian - mumbai record was bad.



10.

Suraj - most inconsistent horse in Western india.

Top Action - does well in the first run. Can place.

Major Wager - on a weight/ handicap reducing mission in the past 2 seasons.Looking fit here.

Stud of Gold ; will benefit the Bookies immensely.

Bonny Light - Good for PLACE.

Mister Fixit - 9 year old .Any takers ???
