Hi all,
I see a very Competitive race card and most races seem to have an open look.Following are my comments.
With 2 with drawls from the Mallya Camp ( did they plan the Thursday WINS in advance ) the first race is tricky and could go either which way.
1.Desert Rule : Tracking extremely well and is in with a decent chance to score.The last run was not upto the mark being the First run of the season.Going by track form and choice of jockey is the Horse to BEAT.
Affirmed Crown : was not extended in previous outing when finishing 3 rd to Chimerique which is participating in the Graded Race for the day.The positive change of equipment indicates Confidence and if Desert Rule is found lacking then the Crown will Affirm itself.
Super Sha : Had the chance to strike in a comparitively weaker set.Was uanble to utilise not sure if it can meet the expectations with better horses.Sorry NOT HERE.
Glorious Princess : Unlucky on a few occasions but seeing the many changes in Riders is indication of signs of desperation.Looks very difficult.Rider merit is the only reason for backing this horse.
2.VB Race and from the looks of it Horses 1/6/7 have no chance whatsoever.
Anyone's Guess on the Winner.
3.Mind Me faces mild opposition.Don Cherry can be considered for Place .
Most runners have no credibility to even Place.The likes of Reigning Monarch and Leopardino have done nothing to merit attention.
4.Usha Stud Bangalore Summer Million : Grade III
to start with the race has an open look irrespective of the market fancies or tips from the race books and web sites.The Southern Chieftan has not been able to make an impression in any of the classics at bangalore and a Win in this MILLION race can help to some extent.
Fantastic Quest : Won the last start impressively.Had expected this Horse to participate in the Derby ( as a late entry at least ) but was given the SKIP.Has had a mock race after that Superlative effort hacking the field which included Arktouros.Bloodlines may not look impressive but manner of Winning in race 60 and the earlier 4 th to Set Alight in race 29 gives an indication of the potential.Srinath the Winner on that occasion has decided to partner Southern Summit but I guess Prakash can also do a decent JOB.
Undue : Was asked to do too much in Previous outing when Noble View WON.This Horse had finished a good 2 nd to Fleeting Arrow on debut in Winter 2007 and later hacked the field this Summer in race 75.Has the services of a Hard task master and can SHINE.
Archipenko : 4 th Run in 2 months ??? Did finish 2 nd to Set Alight but whom did it beat ???? Just One Win on Debut is the Record of this Horse.Losing thrice to the same Horse Fleeting Arrow irrespective of handicap is something one cant ignore.NOT HERE.If it WINS Good but not my Bet.
Enduring Star : Bloodlines suggest that the Horse can do well over longer distances.Can do well.
Southern Summit : a close 6 th to Autonomy ( fleeting arrow was 5 th and the distance was SHD between 5 th and 6 th ) and a close 3 rd to Red Romeo in Mumbai.First run in bangalore was a disaster but if Punters prefer Archipenko based on Fleeting Arrow Logic then it would be saner to consider this HORSE as this Horse is always finishing on well and the Mile would be the ideal TRIP.
Chimerique : Won well in race 148 but beat nothing of merit.BUT has the class to surprise.
5.Talk of the Devil : needs very strong saddle assistance .May at best place as this is a Genuine CLASS 1 Horse.
Western Command : Can go close.Wins seems unlikely.
Jet Fire : Has been coming into the scene at the last moment in the previous races over 1400 mts.The mile can see some progress with John.
Royal Ambassador : Has not been able to show the Winter Form.Avoid.
Guided Missile : Last run was not genuine.WILL PLACE.
Swift Fire : Hacked the field which included today's Winner Schimitar over 1400.Can repeat.
Mothers Pride : Not here.
6.Regal Ransom : How it Lost to to Marcegalia with L Marshall will forever remain a mystery.If at all only the Top weight could pose a problem.
Agassiz : why here ???
FLY Free : Surprise Winner over derby weekend.Bred to stay and if it does well it May be tried in the MYSORE Derby.
Star Speed : Did pip Super Sha at the post.Is a bit sluggish at the start and hence this trip would be ideal and test its capabilities.Should be the HORSE to BEAT.
Hidalgo : Dont forget this genuine class 2 Horse which was sold by previous owners after some in consistent performances.May place.
Star of Excellence : Was 5 th in the blanket Finish race.Can improve further.
7.FREE MASON : If Fly Free does well , One can take a chance.
Jersey power : looks difficult for WIN.Choice of Mallesh is a surprise.Should place.
Win Pretty baby :Baby beat some mediocre Horses.Hence may not be a GOOD BET amongst some genuine class 3 Horses .
Star News : Can upset.
Sunny Connexion : Gamble ready for Execution but the equipment retained is STEEL.Keep an eye.
Girl Next Door : Not here.

Can Kiara LOSE on Thursday.
A day which one could see Trainer Darius Byramji shine brightly in spite of the gloomy weather in bangalore. Most of his Horses have been failing over the past few days and It is pay back time.
Small card of 7 races and these are my choices.
1.As always the Vb race is full of surprises.Most of the Horses in the fray have participated in race 104 but one cant draw any conclusions based on that performance.
Royal Confidence and Major Asset are TWO horses which will find it difficult to even PLACE and Zangi may also meet the same fate due to the Top Handicap.
I guess skipping the First Two favorites at race time would be the right thing to do.Back any ONE of the rest after excluding the Three Horses mentioned above.
Attaturk is not active in tracks and also has the services of a mediocre Jockey.But again when the rest of the Horses are also bad enough it does not make a difference.
2.Two Horses that can be ignored are One Fine Day and Commache War Paint.
Kyles of Bute : 1100 ?? Not worth a bet. The odds on this Horse would be Good this time around.Advantage is Appu usually is a rider who does well when taken to the front.
Stunning Grey : Dont ignore is capable of springing a surprise as Dam has given us sprinter of repute.
Hall Mark : Failed favorite in race 57 when ridden by C Alford.Is capable of doing well if the start is GOOD and IS the HORSE to beat.
Anna's Quest : Sacrificed on a few occasions.Betting can be considered if the Horse is backed in the Tote for PLACE.
Gift Of Achievement : has been consistent .Last run should be ignored as race was Set for She's Spectacular.
Arnatta : Came up with a late bid when the race was almost over. I would have preferred a longer trip for this Filly to reflect its true potential.
Logically the Race should be between Hall Mark and Arnatta Jodi.
3.Echoes of Light : Has the class to WIN irrespective of the Top weight.Last run was very suggestive.
Local Warrior : Long layoff hence cant place.
Scimitar : This distance may be suited to the Horse unlike the previous run where it was running over 1400.Having lost to Star Presentation narrowly on debut is One positive aspect.Can oblige ONLY if the intention to WIN is noticed.
Blink : Distance ??? hence not HERE.
Red Mustang : Keep an eye.This is a under rated Horse which has done well when least expected.The earlier records will give an indication of the Class of this Horse.
Gleaming Sky : Class IV Winner.Double Promotion.Looking very good on handicap but the LONG BREAK from the tracks as well as races is a bit of a bother.
4.Kiara is well placed on handicap in this Terms Race.Has turned out to be a quality sprinter of repute and it would be a herculean task for the rest to Beat Kiara.
But having said that and considering the fact that Horse Racing always throws up surprises or should i Say SHOCKS , I for one would be EVER willing to have a negative bet if the Odds are very cramped.
Odds @ .30 paisa thereabouts I am ready for the risk.
Kiara would be competing against some consistent and qualitative Sprinters for the First time in bangalore as the earlier set of opponents were never CLASS 1 material.
I am not very positive on Mark of Gibraltor and hence my choice would be Aurelian or LADY ONE depending on the odds.Not necessarily a WIN bet but I am sure the Place odds would be decent enough.
5.Straight Fight between Milagro and War Child.
The last run of Milagro was definitely suspicious and not genuine as on that particular day Dock of Bay / Milagro / Bee the Star and Sugar Blaze were all expected to do well but did not even PLACE.Based on the previous record Milagro should be the horse to beat and if at all anyone comes close it is WAR CHILD.
Noble Guest was full of running in Callista race but at this handicap and against some good runners looks difficult for WIN.
CrackerJack is the Horse which can be considered for Place.
6.Calming Influence has nothing to beat.But I do not wish to bet at the low odds.
She's Big will place.
Third spot is there for the rest.
7.Ore Neiro : Win is ruled out at best a place possibility.
Milford : Consistently inconsistent.Can hope to place.
Axiology : came on well in Blushing Beam race with apprentice Jockey.Should do well with Suraj though the distance is a bit of a bother.
Sun Zone : Looks difficult.
Good Companion : If Zangi and Good Companion offer place Dividend this can be considered.If both fail IGNORE.
Excellent Speed : Small bet for place.I usually avoid these Jockeys but there is always that small risk which can be taken as the Horse is regular in tracks.CHANCE BET.

Review of week end races
The Races held on Sunday was bereft of Genuine Merit due to the underfoot conditions not being very condusive for racing.The Punters must have been ruing this decision of the Authorities as Most fancied runners were not sighted as they were struggling and this enabled the Book makers to recover whatever was lost in the season.
Hence a review would not be in order as the performance on this day is not an indicator of the true potential.
From a personal point of View i had a Good day due to the efforts of Soberano , Super Woman , Star League , Alejandros and the Payout from Noble Prince.
Saturday :
Orange Orchid a failed favorite on the previous ocassion obliged in the opening event and the Ante Post Favorite named Desert Realm conceded in the last stride.Not that Orange Orchid deserved to WIN but it How could some one wager on a Top Weight filly ridden by Ryan Marshall , which had negative change of equipment , No track since Mid June is something I cant relate.
I did have a negative bet on this Horse and with Non Stop Cannon being withdrawn I went in for Lucky Look Place which a losing bet.
Acridian was the Piping Hot favorite and the race time odds was 62 paisa against the Day opening odds of around .90.No doubt it was tracking well but a Horse doing well over 1400 on DEBUT is considered a CLASSIC.Conceptual was in the reckoning on the basis of the earlier 2 nd with John in the saddle.With Mallesh around it was considered a Good bet.None of the other Horses were in the odds for WIN.A Bomb in the form of Supreme Splendour struck as the Bookies were laughing all the way.However One must admit that Conceptual was not taken to the front initially and by the time the effort was asked for it was too late.The Horse got stuck and could not get a clear opening in the last 100 metres which cost it the race.Another 10 metres and the Race was in Her hands.Biut this is racing and you have to accept the final results as it COMES.
I Had a good negative bet on the Favorite as Iam not attached to any Horse.
Backed the WINNER for Place as the others were not impressive.Unfortunate that i was unable to encash the Winners Dividend amounting to a whopping Rs 1 179.
However 2 things struck me in the ring.Many Small time book makers offered Higher odds on the Favorite .Could be on account of 2 reasons.
1.Inside Information as Suraj and Mallesh were astride.One Horse would have been backed and the other eaten.
2.Going by the Logic of Debut RUN.
Many Book makers in earlier times used to do a lot of research on blood lines , handicapping , track work etc and then decide on which to eat and which to avoid.Now a days with daily racing It seems they have no time and they try to eat on most favorites as the LAW of averages favor them.
Superyatch and Zaffarani fought it out till the very end and finally the Former was adjudged the Winner.Was a very power packed performace as this Horse was kept in the rear for most part of the journey and no one would have given even a faint chance when Chelsy Dancer was merrily in front even until the last 300 mts.Credit is entirely to the Jockey.Zaffarani would definitely relish longer distances.
Chelsy Dancer was another straight favorite failing and it did not even place.The odds and the Support was not warranted as the previous effort was dismal.This Horse was also backed from Evens to around .80 and the rest were never in the fray for WIN.
I had a Good negative Bet as usual on the favorite and backed the Winner for Place and also a small bet for WIN.
Reflection of Gold provided APPU an armchair ride to victory though Inspiring Trust came on well in the closing stages.reflection of Gold's dam Sterling Prospect was a genuine stayer and this helped.Noble Kingdom is pretty ordinary.Inspiring Trust may need longer distances to prove its capabilties.
Inspiring Trust and Noble Kingdom got all the support from Punters based on the earlier runs and preparation.Reflection of Gold was ignored on grounds of handicap and also the distance.Spirit Of excellence was a lost cause with apprentice Jockey.
Could not decide on the Negative bets due to confusing scenario but finally had a Token bet on Reflection of Gold basically to prove that Class Prevails over handicap.
Appu had a immediate double on Diamond Hunter as most of the runners had some issues in the race.The usually front running Perfect Rhythm was given a miserable ride for which the Jockey has been suspended for 12 race meetings.Coming to the race Diamond Hunter swept away the field and none of the others could match strides inspite of the relative handicap.Mercurial is being sharpened for Mysore.Padmanabhan does not usually race in Mysore and hence fate of Perfect Rhythm is unclear.Fantabulous Prince can be backed over 7 furlongs.
Had a each way bet on F.Prince and got it covered by a Place bet on P.Rhythm.
My days best was royal Alchemist but at 11/10 odds it was not worth a POSITIVE bet not a negative bet.
This Horse has a history of inconsistency and was proved again.The Eventual Winner Splendid Surprise was taken to the front and managed to stave off the late bid from the long shot Algiers and Consistent Chilly Wind.It was a close finish which could have gone any which way.Astounding Blue ended 4 th and the 2 nd Favorite Bold Reply was 5 th.
The intial Odds on bangalore tote on the WINNER was above Rs 300 for WIN and 15 for PLACE.the Dividend reduced in the tote later as bookies who accepted bets at 15 to 1 , backed it in the tote as the signals were positive.
Well I did have a each way bet on the Winner as it was in my workings.
Powerful Dreams provided Christopher his second victory as the Horse Won easily.Can repeat.
Spread a smile did well to deny Star Image the 2 nd spot.Others also RAN.
had a each way bet on Spread A smile and I was definitely Smiling as the ODDS were very GOOD for Shp and Place.
The well bred Celestial treasure which was an expensive failure in previous outing obliged and hacked the field .Royal Zen was a bag gamble but the late bid was not very useful.take my Word will pick up a Race shortly.Most probably n Mysore and in the First meeting.Man United also came up well in the clsoing stages carrying top weight.Can oblige in Mysore.
Unfortunately my luck on negative bets ran out and I ended up with a Loss in this race.I had a positive bet on Both Royal Zen and Take my word.
Overall , One of those GOOD DAYS as most races the payout was as per expectations .Could have made a big killing if the Shorlisted Horses for Kainchi had these long shots.

St leger race day
Hi all,
Unlike Saturday , I see many Favorites Winning on Saturday.Those who follow long shots may have to go SLOW.
Following are my choices for the day.
1.Valid Expectation , Dash to Cash , Luminous Gold.
Unable to locate any other Horse which can try for place.
I am not the type to recommend On MONEY Horses but Judging by the track work the first named looks OUTSTANDING.Can only Lose if the Jockey Mallesh messes it up like he did on Saturday with Conceptual.
Having said this I would not back Valid Expectation at these odds.If Valid Expectation Wins the Division II of the Cup race @ 59 kgs , chances of Distinctly Ahead Winning the Division I race diminishes.It may WIN but i try to follow the odd theory that in the Division II winner always carries Lower Weight than Division 1.So If Distinctly Ahead has to WIN , then Dash to Cash has a bright chance to score in the opening event.Exceptions have been seen but as both seem favorites makes sense to have a negative bet based on this logic on any of these 2 Horses.
2.This being a VB race backing Favorites does not make sense as most of them have no merit as such.
Mafioso , Firey Business and Running Man are my order of choices.Southern Magic has some credentials due to Valid Expectations Ownership. No track work.
As the trainer ( Prithviraj ) is under Suspension I have not opted for Action hero which otherwise is a good bet.Again there is the conflict as Mahesh trains the Favorite.
3.Heroic Fantasy , Table Mountain , Star League.
unable to see track work of Telemacchus since 05/07/08. the distance may be suited if one were to go by previous run but Definitely not worth a BET as it comes from a stable which is not striking as expected.
Heroic Fantasy on the the hand was showing out in the initial stages of the race which was eventually WON by Kajuharo.Hence should PLACE by default.
Table Mountain can provide the DOUBLE if Valid Expectation succeeds in the first race.Valid Concept is proving to be a good Sire.
Star League has good credentials but lack of track work leaves us in doubt.If backed in tote for place , One should definitely have a GO as the Horse is well bred.
4.Distinctly Ahead , Lunar Lust , Billy Blackjack.
Lester and Pheonix Rising have been sacrificed based on the change of equipment.The First named Distinctly Ahead is expected to get a Walk Over.
Cannavaro's rider merit is questionable though the Horse is Good.
5.Noble Prince is expected to offer Cramped odds.If at all one wishes to go against the Horse or alternatively place bets can be considered on Arabian Knight and Classic Sky.
The CUP has lost its importance due to the poor response and also judging by the quality of Horses.
6.Queen Rania , Flaming Lamborgini and Soberano.
May be shocking but in the absence of genuine contenders these THREE come into contention.
Queen Rania has tacked most f these Horses early on in her career and can hopefully put it across.Last run was suggestive.
Flaming : 5 th run this season ??? Over worked.
Soberano ; Keep an eye.Has better credentials than most runners.The Top weight might put off the Punters.
The Contender may not be able to match strides with these class II Horses.
If Stone of Destiny odds are less than 10 to 1 then One can have a each way bet.
7.Royal Player , Cute style and Near n Dear.
Fox Haven a filly repeating at 61 kgs seems unlikely.
Not many Horses active in training and hence other Two are here by default.
8.Cimmaron , Super Woman and Perfect Tribute.
Cimmaron was given a bad ride in the last outing and Mallesh should do better.
Iam not impressed by Raider Sun.
Super Woman at a tidy handicap seems certain for place.
Andronicus was full of running when Aelenia WON but distance and the Penalty in weights is not positive.
Kainchi : Valid Expectation , Heroic Fantasy , Queen Rania , Royal Player, Cimmaron.
Shortlist based on ODDS.

Saturday Choices
It has been raining for the past 5/6 days and if there are some heavy showers today / saturday morning Races may have to be postponed.Also the blasts today has not caused major damage but in case there are law and order issues It may have a bearing .
If races are held on Saturday , do consider the following.
1.Lucky Look. Non stop Cannon , Orange Orchid.
Vb race could go any which way but these 3 are opted due on account of handicap and jockey merit.
2.Conceptual , Acridian ( race within this JODI ) your Destiny.
Acridian has been blazing the tracks and Conceptual has the benefit of a race run.The odds will give a clearer indication at race time.Your destiny can hope to place if Supreme Splendour is unable to grace the board.Chinab may not last the distance.
3.Zaffarani , SuperYatch ( Jodi Safe ) Chesly Dancer.
It would be sensible not to look beyond the First Two as they have Good track work as well as strong saddle support.
Chelsy Dancer was a FAILED gamble last time out and the manner in which it surrendered the LEAD does not send positive signals.Should at best place.
Fly for Sure has negative change of equipment and even otherwise would not have made a difference to the outcome of the race.
4.Good Race with 3 Horses evenly matched on merit and the Handicap is likely to decide the Winner.
Reflection of Gold has the bloodlines to cover the race distance but conceding weight and expecting it to WIN is difficult though not Impossible.
Inspiring Trust was backed in previous outing but did not even bother the bookies for place in TOMSK race.Has been a choker on many a occasion.Better to keep sway.
Noble Kingdom is well bred , has the change of equipment which happens when the retained rider is entrusted with the task and also is tracking decently.Should be the preferred choice.
5.Diamond Hunter : One Win per Season is sufficient at longer odds.At this weight not possible.
Dinesa: Fortunate to end 3 rd in Diamond Hunter race.Has no class but has been fortunate to pay good returns.Not here.
Lava : Original rider back in Action.Good chance.
Mercurial : Fit for MYSORE only.
Fantabulous Prince : showed some resemblence of earlier form in previous outing.But distance may be sharp.
Perfect Rhythm : Well placed on handicap to WIN.
6.Royal Alchemist , Superior Surprise , Astounding Blue ,Afghan.
If one were to go by previous run then the First named has the best chance to score.
Superior Surprise if on JOB will definitely place.
Afghan a long way third can improve.
7.Powerful Dreams ,Kemrock , Star Image.
Bad race from betting perspective as even Spread a Smile can Upset.
8.Gara Fluid , Worth a Million , Take my Word, Royal Zen.
Meant for the Jockeys with not so impressive record in bangalore.
Celestial treasure may be fancied but if the ODDS are below EVEN Money good negative bet.

These are my choices for the day.
1.Bad race with no recent track work for most runners.Desert Blue is expected to land up as Default favorite purely for the Jockey merit.
I would go with Rags to Riches each way and Love Forty Place.
2.another bad Certainty plate.
Free Spirit has the change of name and can oblige if ridden judiciously.
Madamme Bijoux and Nara can Fite.
3.I expect Musicial Rhythm to give a good account in spite of Belose.Star adventure is the best bred Filly in the Race and should place by default.The Builders with common interest can try for the 3 rd spot.
4.Carlos gets first preference and Star Always can do well if the Jockey is able to maintain a straight course.Covenant will place.
5.Good competitive race with as many as 6 Horses ready to strike.
Secret Pilgrim , Matata pride , Imperium , Wells Fargo , Spirited Star and Kalpavrushka.
Rising Hero has a mediocre Jockey and Aadesh on Patek Philippe is unreliable.
The First three named above may be considered based on the race time odds.
6.Algorithms , Star Attraction , Il divo are closely matched and inter linked and hence It would be sensible to look for race time cues to decide on the BET.
Black Sapphire is the one for the UPSET.

Pune Races 2008.First Day
Hi all ,
Long card of 9 events and most of the races have an open look due to the presence of many Horses.It is wise to Bet in a limited way in the first few meetings as Pune is not known to oblige fancied runners.Most of those Horses which are taken to the front do well as the Course suits these Horses.
My limited comments are as under .
Being the First day I leave it to all of you to shortlist the Horses based on MY Views.I will not be suggesting my bets for the day.
Any Horse with ON MONEY odds are worth a negative bet.
1.Combustion , Medtia's Pride and Here comes the Don.
The first named being the favorite has been regular in the tracks and should oblige.Only problem is that Mallesh has 6 Good mounts and I don t give him more than 3 ( max ).
The other Two Horses are more suited to WIN on a start to finish mission and hence may the threat.
2.VB Race and hence could go any way.
Tsesebe has run with better horses and bloodlines are comparitively better.Having said that it is also a fact that in VB races favorites usually dont oblige.
Binee , Mubarass and Up North are the 3 Horses which come into contention if the fancied Horse fails.
Others may not be able to match strides with the above mentioned 4 Horses.
3.Secret Admirer will garner support on the basis of the good 4 th to KIARA.But the long layoff since February 2008 is something which needs to be factored in.
Flaming Arrow : Good run on Debut.Should be in the final 4.
Fidel Defensor : Should place by default as most runners have not been tracked and also do not have any previous form to go by.
Encouragement : may at best place.
4.Fire Queen , Raiba , Modesty , King of the Ring .
Looks like a very open race.
5.Golden Symbol : Tracking well has not placed earlier in Mumbai but has participated with some quality horses.
Sarjero : May place.
Aegina : consistent in Mumbai but was unable to meet expectations.
Calyspo Queen : Keep an eye .Should easily place and is the one which can UPSET.
Centre of Attention: Outer draw may pose problems .Hence avoidable.

Relief day
Relief for those who have been crying hoarse about the standards of racing at mysore.
Having said that and based on Tuesday results it would be advisable to avoid MOST favorites from these Trainers on the last day .I am referring to only WIN bets.

My bets for the day would be on the Trainer's.

My views on the races scheduled for Sunday.Except for 2 races most of them are very unimpressive .
Choice of Bets would vary if race time odds are not favorable.My Choice is not definitely the best horse in the race.Kindly note that it is just my preference based on the odds

Jersey Rock , Asiaticus , Ahira , Elusive Study , Damgood , South Paradise.
Likely Winners :
Whisper Valley , Star News , Excellent Ability and Woman on Top.
Negative :
Abs fabs , On a Roll , Grand Madame , Trafalgar Square.
1.Sunny Colors ; not here.
2.Last Sammurai ; big time gamble failed when Thunders Roar beat this colt at the post.With the penalty seems a lost cause at this weight.
3.Burning Ambitions ; Lucky winner in previous outing.But with Chethana , i would prefer to SKIP.
4.Snow Prince ;can do well.If in the place odds are reasonable One could take a chance.
5.Excellent Ability ; bred to stay ,has always met one better.Should do well.Owner picked up race on saturday and is in line for a double.
6.Red Swift ; point with all b class trainers is they rarely let the Horse do well upto its potential.Either a bad rider or lack of fitness is the issue.The Horse has the capability to WIN but not sure if it will be tried.
8.Jersey Rock :Has the CLASS to WIN.Is better placed on handicap compared to Last Sammurai.Definitely a good each way BET.

Sugar Blaze : no consistency in performance from this stable.

Originality ; Chettinad Stud Stakes ??? No track work , but some activity seen in swimming.Not worth a BET at the odds offered.
Asiaticus : Favorably placed on handicap.Last run with top weight was forward.if the same is repeated a LIVE threat.
Choice is : Asiaticus and Top of the Class.
Unsucceded Star : a WIN on Debut is very unlikely.
Edmondo :Tracking well , keep an eye.
Forever Mark ; Will definitely place .If the odds are lucrative Good each way bet.

Grand Madame : Long LAYOFF by racing standards and then to top it a race for a 3 year old over 2200 is something I cant relate to.
Spark of Elegance ; rarely have i come across off springs of Warrshan tried over this distance.Well it seems that the Trainer and Owner are confident of its capabilities.
Double Elite : gift race was not utilized in previous outing.Change of Jockey is not going to bring out change in fortune.
Thunders Roar : Suraj Narredu weighs 50 kgs and hence choice of Jockey is a mystery as Jagadesh struggles even in Mysore.
Choice is : Eat favorite let anyone WIN.
Diego Rivera : the presence of Owners and previous effort may lead to this horse being fancied but at this distance iam not convinced.SORRY.
Splendid Surprise : Tracking extremely well but again a Mile would have been preferred though It can do well over furlongs also.
Brahmaputra : should have been retained at Delhi.not here.
Badge of Gold : failed favorite when carrying 63 kgs , the lower handicap can help the Horse to some extent.
Wonder Smile : very very difficult.
Woman on Top : Can compensate for TOMSK.However the bad draw could affect its chances.
Coral Gables :8 year old competing against some youngsters of repute.
Rhapdision Snow : last run was very bad but that can be explained by the rains and underfot conditions .Is a one paced Horse.
Elusive Study : was full of running in Dancing Highness race , choice of Jockey is deceptive.My choice for PLACE.
Romantic Getaway :unplaced for ONE YEAR even in Mysore and Kolkatta yet came with a flourish carrying top weight to finish a commendable 2 nd to LION HEART.Positive change of equipment seen but CONSISTENCY is the main factor to be considered.Not here.

Shisham : Ghatala and Shinde have been taking punters on a merry go round.
Choice is : Damgood Place.
Vb race but Whisper Valley looks good and can WIN.
Couelle can Place as most runners have no inclination to run on merits going by choice of jockeys.

Saturday Races
8 races framed out of which at least 6 are expected to be Competitive.These are my views for the day.
1.Gris Rapide : not here.
2.Spicy Star : Was very impressive in previous outing .Has been regular in swimming tracks and is the One to watch out for.
6.One : Is expected to have more support from Punters and with M Narredu to guide the Filly's fortunes the Odds are not likley to be very attractive.May WIN but is it worth a Bet. Odds will decide that.
8.Fantastic Flame : After the mock race with Work jockey is ready to Strike.
Choice is : Spicy Star each way.
1.Rapton Force : Faraway second to Enduring Star. Tracking well has a Good chance to score.
2.Affirmed Crown : Well bred Horse which did finish a credible 4 th to Succeeding Star when ridden by weak jockey.Should do well.
3.Firezone :Looks a bit difficult here though a upset cant be ruled out.
5.Glorious Princess : ideal Trip after the sprint runs.Will definitely place.
6.Chimerique :Long layoff and Ryan Marshall are both indicators that the Horse may not be extended tomorrow.Could be readied for Pune season.
7.Sabari : flashed on late in race 100.Can do well over the extended trip.
Choice is : Glorious Princess Each way.
Sabari Place.
2.Lady banks : Best bred filly in this race.However the usage of STEEL shoes is an indicator ( not conclusive ) that Horse may not be ready.Earlier run with Shakti Singh was suggestive.

7.Rain Man : Last outing GAMBLE came through as the bunch was very weak.Not here i suppose.

7.Royal Artist : SHOULD EASILY PLACE.
11.Prince Norbert : may at best come 3 rd.
Choice is : Voice of India each way and Royal Artist Place.
3.Auchinlech : may place as the opposition is ????

friday Hyderabad Races
Many Horses which were campaigned in bangalore during the break in
racing @ hyderabad have WON races on the first day thereby proving that
Fitness is the key.
My choices for Friday are as follows ;
1.Standing Ovation , Just be cool and SuperFlous
Hurricane bay may be fancied but having done nothing spectacular till
date can be ignored.
2.China Girl , Al Jadeed and Smarty Prince.
Could go any which way.
3.Fly by Wire , Champ Forever , Buddy brothers ,Walk in the Park.
First two Horses have done well during the Winter season but handicap
would make it difficult.Buddy brothers after stripping fit is ready but
will have a tough task ahead to WIN.
4.Power Ranger , Dark Stranger and Young Star.
With many changes in Owner / trainer difficult to assess relative merit.
5.Dash on regardless has nothing to beat.
Ujjaini and Silver Rose should place.
6.Anguna and Hospitality are the ones to watch out for.
Classic One and Speed Hunter may place.
7. Recast should be able to put across Track Rule.
Olympic Crown may fill the frame ahead of Favorable Terms.
8.Golden Flame , Alcohology , Cynget.
9.Secret Silence , Fearless Flame , Kodos.

6.Anguna and Hospitality are the ones to watch out for.
Classic One and Speed Hunter may place.
7. Recast should be able to put across Track Rule.
Olympic Crown may fill the frame ahead of Favorable Terms.

Hyderabad First Day
The Monsoon Meeting gets underway from 17 th July and as Always Punters can look forward to Good Dividends on the Winning bets .In the absence of reliable odds , one has no clue on the horses which are tried or otherwise .Invariably Horses which WIN at hyderabad do not maintain consistency and hence race goers are requested not to go by old form.Last but not the least Favorites do oblige once in a while.
Thursday being the opening day It is ADVISABLE to avoid backing any favorites unless the Track Work is very good or there is some reliable information on the intentions of the connexions.

The latter is Fit having been raced in bangalore but has not picked up a race when ever asked for in hyderabad. Power Play can do well purely based on saddle support.Sir Almas ran like a donkey in Bangalore and after seeing the jockey declared to ride , the confidence levels are at the bottom.

Youngsters are being raced in a handicap race and weight could prove to be the nemesis for the fancied runners.But the quality of the older horses is nothing great and hence the above Two are preferred.

Stroke of Genius was the First choice but the choice of Jockey at times does not give the required confidence to BET.
Bella Coola the Winner from bangalore should not trouble the Bookies.

Storm Command sports Steel Shoes and hence NEGATIVE where as Nandanvanaa may be difficult due to top weight as well as relative Jockey merit.

Though seemingly an open race , the chances of Winning Rays are very very bleak.

Safe choices
Some choices for the races , place looks certain .That in itself is a big deal in MYSORE is it not ??
Pretty Yashyashvini will place 100 %. Well the place odds may not be much but based on the race time odds , One should decide on whether it can WIN .
Opera Princess is expected to WIN but if the odds are not in line with expectations , go in for Ametrine for PLACE.
Fit for Fray a failed favorite WILL place.Now this is not a great prediction but What to do the only other place certainty is Always for you.3 rd place is there for the highest bidder.
BOSSY BOSS is expected to PLACE.
Callidora is now being ridden by the PET jockey of the TRAINER.Hence WILL PLACE.
Ansonia has the best chance to SHINE.So will place.

The Kingfisher Bangalore Derby Witnessed TWO records being broken.
One of which was set by the WINNER SET ALIGHT by clocking a new record time of 2 .02.32 which replaced the old record of Star Supreme in 1997 shaving off nearly a second from the old timing of 2.03.09
The Second Record was set by CLASSIC Hopeful KICKINGKING which ran with special equipment - BLK / TS / CNB and which finished last of 9 runners and clocked 2.14.78 seconds.Must have finished a good 200 metres behind the Winner.
Even a VB race horse Winner in bangalore would have clocked a better time.

This is the short summary for SUNDAY.Races are likely to be competitive and it would be prudent to follow the trends at race time before finalizing the BET.
1.Blink / Star Wave / Cassandra or Mucho.
Star Wave is being fancied but Blink has better credentials.
Mucho or Cassandra will fill the 3 rd spot.
2.Calming Influence / Paint me Red / Just Great.
Seems to be an open race as Leopardino also comes into contention.
Cart Wheel may not be able to WIN @ this handicap.
3.Salsera / Able Associate / Suave / Valiant Bay.
Arkthourous and Valiant Bay JODI may be for the bookies.
4.Most open race of the day.
I would go with Sayonara / Ray of Sunshine / Kajuraho / Your Destiny.
I get the feeling that Telemacchus may fail to grace the board.
Sheza Star has not been considered as it is coming after a long layoff.
Jodi may fail.
** Hyderabad Cup and hence Ray may SHINE.

First race : VB
Lets not look at Valiant Bay and Bullish Luck as favorites hardly oblige in these races.May WIN but it is really not worth a bet.
You Beauty ran a close 6 th to Burning Ambitions and hence could oblige.
Action Hero is being tracked regularly and can place along with another long shot namely Diamond Shower.
Second Race : Class IV
Win Pretty baby with LISA JONES for WIN : Sorry not for me.
Major Asset , Casino Royal and Shisham have better credentials.I would back Two of these Horses based on race time odds.One would be each way and another PLACE.
I had considered Senna but after noticing the change in equipment ignored the same.
Splendid Glory is a Winner @ Mysore and even other wise looks doubtful over a mile.
Third Race : terms 3 year old only.
Kyles of Bute SHOULD make amends.
Desert Rule failed as favorite in Winter but considering the long layoff , it is likely to have had some issues.Besides there is a negative change in equipment.
Spandau Bullet : Has run with better Horses.Can upset.
The Spartan : Tracking well and after the earlier 6 th with Lisa can do better.
Spark of Gold : Not here.
Fourth Race : Class III
Queens Guest : Walk Over.
Little Splendour : May at best place.
Billy Blackjack : lots of activity seen in swimming .Over due for place.
Cannavaro : Horse is good but choice of Jockey is not positive.
Smart n Special : A front runner.A trip over 1100 would have been ideal.Again Jockey has no merit.
Fifth Race :the Main event for the day
Unfortunately the Blog Header was misleading as i don t fancy both the Horses mentioned.
Bourbon King : Impressive Winner over a mile.Multi Classic Winner , doubts being raised on stamina limitations and handicap.But CLASS over rules all these negative factors.Is conceding 2.5 kgs to Southern Empire compared to the previous outing .But Should prevail on account of Saddle support.
Southern Empire : Last WIN was in Dec 2007 in Hyderabad against 2 Horses from same stable.A horse which loses to Storm Regent in Hyderabad in my OPINION cant do well irrespective of the opposition being faced or the handicap.GOOD LUCK.
Noble Prince : This trip is ideal as the previous run was short for comfort.But rider was penalised for excessive WHIPPING and with the extra burden of 2 kilos , iam not sure of its capabilites.
Sweeping Sucess : had written it off in previous run when everyone was fancying the Horse.Now i see that 3 Horses are being fancied and this neglected.Having beaten all these Horses earlier ONE CANT AFFORD TO IGNORE this filly.
Gruezi : With Aadesh Kumar the chances are negligible.
Ruby Queen : even with the handicap in favor i cant see this horse doing well.
Alekona : Did fancy it last time but over this extended distance and against some classic Winners chances are SLIM.Only advantage is the relative Jockey Merit.
Talk of the Devil : Keep an eye.This is most consistent Horse in Bangalore and often ignored as it is from a small stable.
Vanquish : Can its sustain 2200 ??
Saptawsha : Well has no class as such . But Will try start to finish tactics this time as earlier 2 runs the Horse was on a bit burdened by the handicap.
Mothers Pride and Alterio : Not here.
So depending on the odds ,
I would like to bet on Bourbon King for WIN , Each way chance on Sweeping Success and a small bet on Talk of the Devil for Place.
Big Race hence NO big bets as there are too many fancied Horses.
Sixth Race : Class III
Cimmaron : Ruled out due to Jockey merit.
The Contender : Finished a impressive 4 th in race 60 and that was a good run as the Horse was running after 11 months.If it fails it could be due to the handicap.
Astounding Blue : Not here.
Act Smart : Will definitely place.Small chance for Upset.
Surprise Package : Consistent horse at tidy handicap.May do well.
Seventh Race ; Terms race for 3 year old
Zaffarani : Tracking well , strong Owners and with retained Jockey doing DUTY one can take a chance.Should place on debut.
Scramjet : Blazing the tracks.Is the Horse to watch out for.The dam ACER has had many winners in Bangalore.
She's Spectacular : may at best come 3 rd.
Gift of Achievement : Was full of running in race 105 but quality of opposition was mediocre.With the services of a good Jockey can do well.
Arnatta : Strong Bloodlines with earlier siblings having reached class 1.Lots of expectations.With so many good horses in the fray I would have a negative bet if it is available at reasonable odds as favorite.
Last Race : Class III
Open race with My Friend Paul getting the nod based on previous run.
Milford , Ciboney and Snob Value can all come in contention if My Friend Paul does not oblige.
Gift a diamond and CrackerJack are not likely to figure on board.
Likely Winners : Kyles of Bute , Queens Guest , Bourbon King , The Contender Scramjet and My Friend Paul.

Bangalore races 5- 6 July -
Spark of Elegance WON but another WIN looks unlikely in the near future as this WIN was entirely due to the non performance of Mind Me and Royal Player both of whom were never in the hunt.
With the season coming to a close this month , Mind Me can pick up a race if placed in a handicap race.

3 rd Race VB Race : Winning and Losing all depends on the flow of Money and Favorites rarely OBLIGE.
Blushing Beam WON very well but my feeling was that Spirit of Excellence was given a atrocious ride.Nothing to take away the credit as based on this performance Blushing Beam can easily WIN another 2 races on the trot going by the quality of Horses participating in bangalore.
Luminious Gold can be watched only when the Horse is available at longer odds and also placed well on handicap.
Star Speed , Super Sha and Spark of Class were all at the Finish and Super Sha could have picked up the race on a better quality RIDE.
Star Speed based on this run should be watched over longer distances only as it was sluggish at the start.Spark of Class may do well over a sprint.
Diamond Hunter WON purely on its earlier class and some decent track work as none of the others had a chance based on the handicap and relative Jockey Merit.Over rated Mercurial has done well only in MYSORE and has failed repeatedly in bangalore.I wonder why people back this Ordinary Horse with pretty poor bloodlines and that too from this notorious stable.
Aurelian can do well only @ 60 kgs and below.Back this Horse when a allowance Jockey is entrusted with the task.
Dash to Cash was the most impressive Winner of the day and based on this Victory will he heard of very often.
Perfect Analysis is from a stable which manages RACES and the Horses are not worth betting for the ODDS offered and also due to the relative JocKey Merit.
Supreme Harmony will WIN in its next outing provided Srinath or Prakash is given the ride.
Another close finish and Ecuador did well to Pip Gara Fluid and Royal Hero at the post.
For reasons mentioned (refer : Perfect Analysis race ) ARABIAN MEMORIES was the BOOKIES delight with some of them accepting bets in Millions and having the last laugh.A horse carrying 60.5 kgs with some ordinary performance till date was backed for NON RACING Reasons and the Trainer must have been compensated for the LOSS.The fact that the Horse did not even place itself is a sad reflection on the punters who bet on horses based on hearsay.

Musical Paradise WON Impressively though the performance of other fancied runners was dismal.On the Dot came from the last position at the bend to finish a far away 3 rd but considering the long lay off since previous run , it was a commendable effort.Will be seen shortly in Mysore.

LESTER HACKED THE FIELD.Can repeat.Won long way from home with the rider looking back repeatedly.Black Mischief was not sighted till the home bend and came on well to finish 2 nd.But again next outing will not be easy as the opposition would be different.
Port Patrick picked up a race in spite of the top handicap and conceding weight all around.Other fancied runners were HOPELESS in their efforts as the race was seemingly set for Double Elite who lost all chances by drifting out in the last 150 - 200 mts.
Most impressive runner in the race was Royal Alchemist who was seen in the tracks after a LONG GAP.Close 4 th.Should do well in future only in races over a mile.

AELENIA : Lucky to get the race as others were very feeble in their efforts in the early part of the race.
Flaming Lamborgini : Not doing well after the death of the Joint Owner .Picked up 2 races in WINTER purely on handicap.Once it beat Top of the CLASS trained by Byramji and ridden by SURAJ Narredu.
With Mallesh and Suraj both doing duty for Khaitan nothing much was expected when AELENIA was fancied and backed by one and all.The BOOKIES offering .75 for place for the 2 nd favorite clearly meant that the Horse would not even PLACE.And this was proved right.So much for merit and honesty in racing.

Sprinters Million Race Day
Hi all ,
Here are my choices for the day ;
I have Preferred Own Voice over Kiara and the reasons are mentioned below ;
After the 4 Smashing Wins in Mumbai , KIARA was mentioned as the Sprinters Cup Winner.Having come down to bangalore it has done nothing wrong till date having picked up One race and finishing a credible 2 nd to the CLASSY Set Alight.Kiara's siblings includes Armanent who had WON class 1 Races in Mumbai and Easy the controvesial horse which had to shift stables after a riot in bangalore.
But i am having a relook based on these factors ;
Both Kiara and Own Voice have met each other twice in Mumbai and the former has the measure on both occassions.In the 2 nd meet , Own Voice lost by a neck over 1000 mts though the Horse was better off on handicap by
2.5 kgs .Subsequently KIARA has picked up 2 races in Mumbai which proved its versatality.
Having come down to bangalore , KIARA beat a Mediocre set of rivals by a distance in a class 2 race .The timing was not all that good though this factor is decided by the pace of the race. Kiara Won at level weights save the 2 nd placed Strong Minded who was conceding 2 kgs. Among the rest of the runners Script ur Destiny did pick up a race later.
Own Voice , whose illustrious siblings include Velvet Rope and Petronella ,
lost twice in mumbai to Kiara and was relocated to bangalore.It has picked up 2 races at Cramped odds but with better timings.It has WON a Class 3 Race conceding weight to the opposition.It won carrying 59 kgs.
Kiara has also picked up a race carrying 58.5 kilos in Mumbai but the relative Jockey merit is also a reason to be considered.If one were to compare Srinath and Alford the Former stands TALL and is considered as the Best rider in the country at TOP Handicap.Alford carries the tag of a easy rider with a laid back attitude.But this might not be the case in races which has a lot at stake.
This is the First outing for Own Voice with Srinath as earlier runs were with
O'donoghue and Prakash.That in itself indicates that the Trainer has felt the need to avail the services of a task master. With Rajendra the preferred Jockey of Kaira not around Alford has been has entrusted with Kiara.
Kiara has been seen only in Swimming tracks after the previous runs.Own voice has been maintaining fitness on the inner sand track.
This is Kiara's 9 th run since debut and this may prove to be its undoing.
At the end of the DAY , KIARA may still WIN and all these comments may have to be consigned to the dustbin.But as a Punter I would have to consider the risks associated with a BET and hence this short summary.
Some punters may find the ODDs of around .80 lucrative and GOOD LUCK TO THEM ALL but I am going to have a negative bet.
Ice Breaker is well bred and can also do well though my preference is for OWN Voice.

It is a close finish between the first 2 named Horses.The more experienced of the Two gets the nod.Desire to dazzle dragged the rider to Finish a good 2 nd earlier.Subsequent to that the Horse has not been seen in the tracks.Related to Talk of the Devil which has been performing consistently in Class I in Bangalore.Jockey merit may not be good enough for WIN but place bet should be profitable as the only other Horse to be beaten is Integer.
2.Quiet Achiever / Royal Zen / Flying Jet.
VB Race so dont expect any logic in the Choice.
3.This race is too complicated and picking as Most horses have a chance to score except for Stylish Bay and Panchakshari.Strong Minded is a late finisher and hence omitted.May need 1400 to prove its mettle.Southerner is a promotee and has beaten some pretty ordinary Horses on the way UP.So can be ignored for WIN.
Of the rest Colonel Duff and Mangalya Prarambh are both likely to be fancied on account of the previous run and Jockey Merit.I would opt for Colonel Duff and a small chance on Silken Care.
4.Lester , Sun Device , So Much More.
Horses 3/6/7/8 have no chance whatsoever to even Place.Of the rest I have ignored Black Mischief being the debut RUN.The rest should all place.
Lester should be considered as the Days Best Betting Proposition.However the Odds would decide on whether We can have a positive Bet.
5.Ever So Clever , Superior Surprise , Double Elite ( Agassiz )
Ever so Clever has been having some easy races without being extended.Has the best chance to Score over this distance.
Superior Surprise will Definitely PLACE.
Agassiz or Double Elite for the 3 rd Spot.
I would avoid Bold Reply and El Gordo .

Own Voice / Kiara / rare and Precious.
KIARA : Has done nothing wrong till date.No track work since last run.However has been exercised through Swimming classes.One negative factor against this filly is that it is running for the 3 rd time this season and my view is that the Horse may be tired.Avoid a Winning BET.

Rare and Precious : Owner was unlucky to lose out in in 2 races on saturday.Is also good enough to vie for Supremacy though KIARA seems unbeatable.
Mark of Gibralter : Sorry not here .
Sugar ray : Strong saddle support can help in Place.
Ice Breaker : First WIN itself was 2 weeks ago.Hence Not sure if would have regained some fitness

The Horse which can Upset is EASY.
bad race from betting point of view as many Horses are likely to be in contention.
8.Chief's Dream , Flaming Lamborgini and Aelenia.
Others are not all that impressive in the tracks.
