Hyderabad Winter season races Day 1

hi all ,

the Winter season racing action starts this week and racing patrons will be kept busy until  March 2012 .

the hyderabad races commences this wednesday and a Competitive race card has been framed for the opening day and lets all hope for the best.The Winter track at Malakpet is quite different from the One used during the Monsoon season and very often the change in tracks affect the performance as a few horses dont relish the abrupt change in surface.A few trainers also try to reduce the ratings in monsoon.


Comments on the contenders and My personal choice as follows. In the absence of genuine odds until One hour prior to race time , it is difficult to suggest confident bets as ODDS may play spoilsport. 

1.  Beginners plate for 2 year old's - Difficult to take a call based on track works. On bloodlines Snow Bird , Arlington and Sitting Pretty are superior than the rest. 

Snow Bird is bred as Scorch is known for its speed and has done well in western india.


Sitting Pretty is sired by Imitiaz , which has not been given many Winners @ blr or mumbai. The Dam has a decent record in Mysore.

Arlington - seems to a good type.

Enamour - is sibling of Indian Epic which has placed in most of its runs at Malakpet.

Snow Bird  or Arlington - depending on race time odds for WIN and Place.

2. Carson Troy , Traxana , Nano Angel , True Diamond , Theatre of Dreams may find it difficult to sustain the trip. Shades of Victory , trainer is known for trying only when positive equipment is used. Had the maximum number of entries in Monsoon season , last few race days were completely blank.

Juliet - distance looks sharp , but can still shine as handicap is in favour and is meeting many inexperienced horses.

Sea Runner - last seen finishing on well over 1200 , extended distance and allowance jockey factor can help here.

Miss WaterMellon - the rage in the betting based on its impressive WIN . Point to be factored is that it beat some 3 year old non performers . Bred well and has services of the ace jockey. Will start as onmoney favorite.

Golden Adagio - has not done justice to its pedigree , the advantage in weights may enable a place spot.


Art Connoissuer - trainer is known to keep giving entries very often and over various distances.When punters feel that the it is not performing and ignore the  horse , it will perform  beyond expectations . Having raced over a mile earlier , distance is not an issue , handicap is attractive , field is not all that impressive , can be the dark horse in the fray.


As MWM is expected to be ONMONEY , i guess there is no point in considering the horse for a definite bet.. 

Art Connoissuer or Juliet - token bets for WIN/ SHP and good bet for place.

3.Ann Arbour , Thirteen Black , Gossip Girl , Cypress Way , Time to Party and Aneres will be out of depth here.


Rohini Star - except for the debut Win the subsequent performances are nothing to write about.,Conceding weight all round. Hence not going to be easy , bloodlines are also not the best.

Dauntless - recent tracks are impressive. Can come from way off the pace as its bred to stay.


Silver Crown - one of the best bred horses in the fray , debut run was not all that good and there is a long absence from the Race track since then. Recent tracks are reasonable .

Wedding Gift - having campaigned over longer distances , the decision to try here is a ?? Yet having regard to the quality of horses in the fray , one cant ignore it as it has seen better horses than any other in the fray.

Wedding Gift - Each way or Silver Crown Place.

4. Star Prospect , All Pepper , Till the Cows come home , Imaam and Standing Ovation are the no hopers.


Rio Grande - last run can be ignored for obvious reasons. Has good credentials at this handicap


Flash of Emerald - having seen all its runs one is inclined to believe that the horse has lost its Winning form.


Indian Epic and True Future , both placed earlier in Crown Castle race.  True Future should reverse the position here as the Winter tracks may be suited to its manner of running .

Al Jabal - very very speedy as seen in its last 2 runs.  Getting weight from most runners.

True Future - each way seems to be the best option . Next best to consider is Rio Grande.

5.Power Colors , Ruffiano , V Sally , China Pearl , Splendid Show dont really stand a chance due to distance  and lack of recent form.


Corvette - not sure what happened after its initial runs.  Last few runs were very very bad. May relish winter track.


Cascading Glory - comes from way off the pace , that may help if the front runners tire out.Rider is the retained rider for trainer Prasad Raju.  Can hope to place.


Sun Strikes - last outing Winner beating Naughty Girl , which lost out in the betting. Can hope to place here in superior field.

Fine Racer - the name Neeraj Rawal and fair racing does not go together. Must have come down to home town on a holiday , the trainer is known to give rides to all members of the extended Narredu Family.


Kathakali - in and out running , cant rule out its chances .


Crown Castle - a runaway Winner , coming here with a small penalty , is known to hit the front from the start. Can repeat.

Difficult race - Crown Castle or Kathakali can be considered for each way or Place , based on the odds.

6.Chamatkar , Cheetah Hi Jeetha , Winning Strides , Jingles and Hardccore can be ignored due to lack of form and the sharp distance

Chemeli also has been tried over longer distances , yet can shine if the front runners tire out. The  only other factor is the jockey .

Mighty Price and Grey Shot carry some good form though it was seen in poor fields. 

Deccan Passion - weights are attractive , form is not. Can hope to place at longer odds.

Welcome Baby - beat Palace Affairs , in the tracks as well as in the stewards room. Has good turn of foot. Should place.

Welcome Baby - each way or place may be the preferred choice.

7.Pedalo comes with huge expectations after its very very impressive debut in terms race. Directly pitchforked into class I .Has any horse ever WON in this manner. Can the advantage in weights be sufficient to beat the seasoned horses in the fray. I feel that this is a very ambitious entry .

Horses 3 to 6 as well as 8 & 9 stand no chance whatsoever

Among the rest , Crown Crystal and Melody Queen have a good record over this distance . 

Nano Storm which is bred as Jabel Queen needs more ground. Choice of rider indicates intent to do well.

Handsome Hawk has Won twice , rider merit post 40 Winners is to be factored.

2 entries from Trainer Laxman Singh , Vijays Dhara has been very very impressive in both its recent Wins. Vijays Rose may find the distance a bit difficult in normal circumstances. With the weights in favour cant rule out its chances.

Golden Palace - has obviously seen better days as its record will show. Last few runs can be ignored as it was seen conceding weight.

Hard Kingdom - jockey Vivek is not known to be a good rider when carrying heavy impost. At 62 kgs  and conceding weight to many youngsters in the fray ,its not going to be easy. A genuine class II horse , it comes into contention due to vast experience.

Given a chance best thing is to lay the favorite if ONMONEY , else go for PLACE bets on Melody Queen / Vijays Dhara or each way on Golden Palace.


8.Bound for Glory , Queen of Court , Stadium of Light , Florentine , Cannon jet , Amrapal , Sporting Star. At best one of them can hope to place.

Angelica lost its way in the betting when Vijays Dhara won on Monsoon derby day. Fair chance here.,

Lake King -  last 3 runs can be ignored as horse did not seem fit. Meeting relatively inferior field here. Can shine.

Vijays Sheel and Luminere Blance are both NON Winners , the latter coming after a long break. The former bred well but losing to some poor horses.

Angelica / Lake King - both have WON once and hence get the NOD.

Hyd - extra day races

The shortlisted horses for the day and comments on their chances are as follows. Being the extra day races , fancied runners may oblige in most races . As always better to be safe than feel sorry later , so always better to skip betting On money favorites.

1. Proviso , Nandanvanaa .

Both these horses have not WON a race for ages.The latter has been quite consistent while being partnered by Nitin Singh .Horse is usually seen trailing the field and finishes on strongly in the last 200 metres. The current rider is absolutely third rate. Hence confidence to bet is low.


Proviso -distance seems fit. Can shine. Star Favours - has some credentials to place.

2.Sharp Single , Merry Maid , Cool Spice.

Limited options due to the fact that most horses in the fray may not relish the distance. The best on merit is Max Baby but as everyone is aware the jockey is the worst in malakpet. If the others decide to wait at the bend for him to move ahead then a Win is a possibility else place is also doubtful.


Sharp Single  , has strong credentials here after a couple of  dubious runs with the ace jockey PSC. 


Merry Maid - last 2 runs were quite decent. Should be in 1-2.


Cool Spice - may be readied for the Winter season. A place bet wont do much harm at longer odds.

3. Maximum Response , Darktos the Muscle , Green thumb.

Last outing DTM was sacrificed for stable mate Cannon Gem conmen like Silvester make this happen often.Difficult to see it Winning here.


Green Thumb - should logically be the horse to beat. Only cause for Worry is the number of fancied horses in the fray for the day  from this trainer.


Maximum response - another late starter from gates , has lost out earlier in the betting also. Comes into contention due to absence of other strong contenders.

4. Home Town , Bribe Madi , Zenas.

Bribe Madi has been tried over longer distances right throughout this season. Is the better horse , but conceding weight over shorter trip.

Home Town is well bred , had a forward run recently. Can come good here. 

5.Divine Ganges , Kansas City Mac , Canadian Girl

Winner should be restricted to the first 2 named horses. Divine Ganges has been untra consistent. Deserves to WIN. Though rider is not known for his Winning ability , he has partnered this horse well in the current season.

Kansas City Mac - if the former , the next best chance. 

6.Celtic Rose , Yippee , Aarohan.

Odds Willing Celtic Rose is a good bet as field is comparatively poor.

Ashleen State has seen far superior company , last few outings allowance jockey helped. With the top handicap , risky bet.

Yippee - should place.

 

7.Buck Knife , Kohinooor Supreme , Chayanandan /Caladium.

Buck Knife a runaway Winner in the lower class can repeat.

Caladium and Chayanandan have both been running too often for comfort. One of them can hope to place.

K Supreme - trainers record quite poor.Horse is well bred. Can upset.

8.Days of thunder , Star Experience, Pluto Queen.

Days of Thunder looks superior , hope the rider does justice to its impressive bloodlines.

Star Experience - bottom handicap , getting weight from  most horses. Can place.
 

Chiquele , Young Sapper , Easy Touch may find it difficult to match strides .

9. Fanaka , Yours Truly , Jaden Girl.

Fanaka has a fair chance to WIN.

Yours Truly is speedy but last 2 runs were very poor. Considering the lack of form of most runners here , should place.

Trainer and Jockey Tales

Random Testing for Anabolic Steroid and Sex Hormones in the month of April 2011 at Mysore

The Stewards of the Mysore Race Club Ltd., at their meeting held on Wednesday, 19th October 2011 considered the report submitted by the Stipendiary Stewards pertaining to the detection of prohibited substance (Estranediol) in the urine sample taken from ch g DARING DYNAMITE on 29th April 2011 during Random Testing for Anabolic Steroids and Sex Hormones for the month of April 2011 at Mysore. The horse owned and trained by Mr. Pratap M Kamath.

They examined trainer Mr. Pratap M Kamath. After deliberations, they decided to suspend the Trainer`s Licence granted to trainer Mr. Pratap M Kamath from 9-11-2011 to 8-1-2012 (both days inclusive) and fine him a sum of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand only) for infringement of Medication Rules (in respect of his charge ch g DARING DYNAMITE during random sampling) as contained in BTC Calendar Notification under the heading "Medication and treatment of horses in Training and Racing and Anti-Doping Control" reading as follows:

"The trainer is always responsible for the protection and security of the horse in his care. The trainers are warned that they will be held responsible if an examination of a horse, results in the finding of any prohibited substances".

The Stewards of the Mysore Race Club Ltd., at their meeting held on Wednesday, 19th October 2011 considered the report submitted by the Stipendiary Stewards pertaining to the detection of prohibited substance (Capsaicin) in the urine sample taken from b g PRINCE OF ARGYLE after the said horse placed First in the above race on 18th August 2011. The horse owned by Mr. K.R. Swamy and Mr. Dhrubadeb Chaudhury and trained by Mr. Vishal Yadav.

They examined trainer Mr. Vishal Yadav. After deliberations, they decided to fine him a sum of Rs.20,000/- (Rupees Twenty five Thousand only) for infringement of Medication Rules (in respect of his charge b g PRINCE OF ARGYLE in the above race) as contained in BTC Calendar Notification under the heading "Medication and treatment of horses in Training and Racing and Anti-Doping Control" reading as follows:

"The trainer is always responsible for the protection and security of the horse in his care. The trainers are warned that they will be held responsible if an examination of a horse, results in the finding of any prohibited substances".

The Stewards of the Mysore Race Club Ltd., at their meetings held on 30-9-2011, 7-10-2011 and 13-10-2011 considered the incident pertaining to Jockey S. Chandrashekar, the rider of SOUTHERN PEARL removing his right leg from the stirrup passing the 1000 Metres and removing his left leg also from the stirrup approaching the 800 Metres for no apparent reason and thereafter for not making effort to regain the same thereby completing the race without the aid of the equipment.

The Stewards examined Jockey S. Chandrashekar, Mr. M. Bobby who deputized for trainer Mr. Amit Caddy on the above said day and Mr. Amit Caddy, the trainer of the horse. The Stewards also considered the evidence tendered by Mr. Tehzeb the person who saddled the horse Mr. Rizwan Alam, the syce of the horse, Mr. K.S. Shanmukhaswamy, the Starter, Mr. Kareem and Padam Singh, Handlers at the Starting Gates & Dr. C.V. Niranjan, Senior Veterinary Officer of the Club. After evaluating the evidence, a Charge Sheet No.246, dated 16-10-2011 reading as follows was issued to Jockey S. Chandrashekar.

"As a rider of SOUTHERN PEARL in Race No.116 of the Mysore Races 2011 held on 30th September 2011, you, after jumping out of the Starting Gates passing 1000 Metres removed your right leg from the stirrup and approaching the 800 Metres you removed your left leg also from the stirrup for no apparent reason and thereafter made no effort to regain the same thereby completing the race without the aid of the equipment and as such the horse was not allowed to run on its merits. The above acts of yours attract action under Rule No.159(a)(b) & (c) and Rule No.202(i) of the BTC Rules of Racing."

II. The Stewards at their meeting held on 19-10-2011, in the light of the Charge Sheet issued once again examined Jockey S. Chandrashekar, trainers M/s. Amit Caddy and M. Bobby. After detailed deliberations, taking into consideration all the evidence obtained during the course of the enquiries and after concluding the enquiry as regards this matter, the Stewards decided as under that :

(a) Jockey S. Chandrashekar after jumping out of the Starting Gates on his mount SOUTHERN PEARL in Race No.116 of the Mysore Races 2011 held on 30-9-2011 had removed his right leg from the stirrup passing the 1000 Metres and he removed his left leg from the stirrup approaching the 800 Metres for no apparent reason;

(b) Thereafter he made no effort to regain the stirrup thereby completed the race without the aid of the equipment resulting in the rider not riding his mount to its potential;

(c) Thus the horse was not allowed to run on its merit;

(d) The action of the Jockey constituted a dishonest and fraudulent practice in connection with racing; and

(e) Thus the above act of the Jockey attracted provisions under Rule No.159(a)(b) & (c) and Rule No.202(i) of the BTC Rules of Racing.

III. In the light of the above, the Stewards decided to suspend the Jockey`s Licence granted to Jockey S. Chandrashekar with effect from 9-11-2011 to 1-3-2012 (both days inclusive), not to permit him to ride work during the period of suspension and further report him to the Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd., for further action as they deem fit for not allowing the horse to run on its merit and for indulging in dishonest and fraudulent practice in connection with racing in terms of Rule No.159(a) (b) & (c) and Rule No.202(i) of the BTC Rules of Racing with regard to his riding on his mount SOUTHERN PEARL in Race No.116 of the Mysore Races 2011 held on Friday, 30th September 2011.

The Stipendiary Stewards reported Jockey J. Paswan, the rider of BULLISH LUCK, to the Stewards for contravention of Rule No.159(b) of the BTC Rules of Racing on his mount in the above race. The Stewards held an enquiry on Wednesday, 19th October 2011, and examined, Trainer Mr. C.V.G.K. Kishore and Jockey J. Paswan. After deliberations, they decided to (a) suspend the Jockey`s Licence granted to Jockey J. Paswan from 9-11-2011 to 8-1-2012 (both days inclusive) and not permit him to ride work during the period of suspension for contravention of Rule No.159(b) of the BTC Rules of Racing on his mount, BULLISH LUCK in the above Race and (b) note the explanation tendered by trainer Mr. C.V.G.K. Kishore.

	The Stipendiary Stewards reported Jockey R Vaideeshwaran, the rider of BACK AMONG FRIENDS, to the Stewards for contravention of Rule No.159(b) of the BTC Rules of Racing on his mount in the above race. The Stewards held an enquiry after the last race on Thursday, 22nd September, 2011, and examined, Trainer Mr. Prasanna Kumar, Spokesman for Jockey R Vaideeshwaran, and the Jockey himself and also trainer Mr. Amit Caddy.

as as a rider of BACK AMONG FRIENDS, he checked his mount and lost position in the first 200 Metres of the race for no apparent reason; (b) passing the 700 Metres, he attempted to make a run on the inside of RICH ROUGHE (Vijay Kumar) knowing that there was no room, thereby, again checked his mount and fell back; (c) after rounding the final bend, he did not make sufficient effort to ride out his mount hands and heels; (d) he eased his mount in the last 50 Metres of the race for no reason; (e) thus, rode contrary to Trainer`s instructions; and (f) despite lack of efforts on his part, his mount finished 4th on its own.

aAafter deliberations, they decided to (a) suspend the Jockey`s Licence granted to Jockey R Vaideeshwaran from 05-10-2011 to 23-10-2011 (both days inclusive) and not permit him to ride work during the period of suspension and report him to the Stewards of Bangalore Turf Club Limited for further action as they deem fit, for contravention of Rule No.159(b) of the BTC Rules of Racing on his mount, BACK AMONG FRIENDS in the above Race

 An enquiry was held into the running and riding of WINDSOR PARK, trained by Mr. J S Pillay and ridden by Jockey B Sreekanth. After due enquiry trainer Mr. J.S. Pillay was fined Rs.5,000/- for unsatisfactory running of his charge and Jockey B. Sreekanth was fined Rs.5,000/- for not making sufficient effort on his mount WINDSOR PARK in the above race

After due enquiry, Trainer Mr. Rakesh was fined Rs.5,000/- for the inconsistent pattern of running of his charge, LAKE OF FORTUNE (A.R. Pradeep), the winner of this Race, as compared to its previous run in Race No.122 of the Mysore Races 2011, i.e., The Justice P Medapa Memorial Cup-Div.II-(About) 1100 Metres, for horses rated 20 to 45, held on Friday, 30th September, 2011, when ridden by Jockey Nassar Alam, it ran fifth.

The Stipendiary Stewards reported Jockey Himanshu, the rider of KHWAISH to the Stewards for Unsatisfactory Riding (Rule No.161(ii) of the BTC Rules of Racing in the above race and trainer Mr. Rakesh for his misconduct towards the rider at the weighing room after the race thereby contravening Rule NO.114(b)(ii) of the BTC Rules of Racing. The Stewards held an enquiry on 8th August 2011, and examined Trainer Mr. Rakesh and Jockey Himanshu. After deliberations, they decided to (a) Suspend the Jockey`s License granted to Jockey Himanshu from 18-08-2011 to 23-09-2011 (both days inclusive) for Unsatisfactory Riding (Rule No.161(ii) of the BTC Rules of Racing on his mount KHWAISH in the above race (permitted to ride work) and (b) Fine Trainer Mr. Rakesh a sum of Rs.10,000/- for his misconduct towards the rider at the weighing room after the race thereby contravening Rule NO.114(b)(ii) of the BTC Rules of Racing.

                  

The Stipendiary Stewards reported Jockey Himanshu, the rider of KHWAISH to the Stewards for Unsatisfactory Riding (Rule No.161(ii) of the BTC Rules of Racing in the above race and trainer Mr. Rakesh for his misconduct towards the rider at the weighing room after the race thereby contravening Rule NO.114(b)(ii) of the BTC Rules of Racing. The Stewards held an enquiry on 8th August 2011, and examined Trainer Mr. Rakesh and Jockey Himanshu. After deliberations, they decided to (a) Suspend the Jockey`s License granted to Jockey Himanshu from 18-08-2011 to 23-09-2011 (both days inclusive) for Unsatisfactory Riding (Rule No.161(ii) of the BTC Rules of Racing on his mount KHWAISH in the above race (permitted to ride work) and (b) Fine Trainer Mr. Rakesh a sum of Rs.10,000/- for his misconduct towards the rider at the weighing room after the race thereby contravening Rule NO.114(b)(ii) of the BTC Rules of Racing

RANDOM TESTING FOR ANABOLIC STEROIDS AND SEX HORMONES FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2011.

The Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd. at their meeting held on Saturday, 27th August 2011 considered the report submitted by the Stipendiary Stewards pertaining to the detection of the drug 16-Beta Hydroxy-Stanozolol (Metabolite of Stanozolol) - prohibited substance in the urine sample taken from dk b g STILL WILL after the urine sample was taken on 28th February 2011 during Random Testing for Anabolic Steroids and Sex Hormones. The horse owned by Mr. Rajan Aggarwal & Ms. L. Rajeshwari and trained by Mr. S. Dominic.

They examined trainer Mr. S. Dominic. After deliberations, they decided to suspend the Trainer`s Licence granted to trainer Mr. S. Dominic from 7-9-2011 to 6-1-2012 (both days inclusive) and fine him a sum of Rs.15,000/- (Rupees Fifteen Thousand only) for infringement of Medication Rules (in respect of his charge dkb g STILL WILL during random sampling) as contained in BTC Calendar Notification under the heading "Medication and treatment of horses in Training and Racing and Anti-Doping Control" reading as follows:

"The trainer is always responsible for the protection and security of the horse in his care. The trainers are warned that they will be held responsible if an examination of a horse, results in the finding of any prohibited substances".


The Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd. at their meeting held on Saturday, 27th August 2011 considered the report submitted by the Stipendiary Stewards pertaining to the detection of the drugs Capsaicin and Dihydrocapsaicin - prohibited substances in the urine sample taken from b g FRAME PARTNER after the horse placed First in the above race on 12th March 2011. The horse owned by Mr. M. Lakshminarayana and trained by Mr.Sharat Kumar.

They examined trainer Mr. Sharat Kumar. After deliberations, they decided to fine him a sum of Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty five Thousand only) for infringement of Medication Rules (in respect of his charge b g FRAME PARTNER in the above race) as contained in BTC Calendar Notification under the heading "Medication and treatment of horses in Training and Racing and Anti-Doping Control" reading as follows:

"The trainer is always responsible for the protection and security of the horse in his care. The trainers are warned that they will be held responsible if an examination of a horse, results in the finding of any prohibited substances".

Mysore - thursday races

Concluding day , not sure what to expect.  My picks as of now are as follows -

1.Fire Star ,Burning Ambitions , Arc Angel.

Going by racing form , Fire Star has the best credentials to WIN.

Burning Ambitions though aged has done this distance. May place. 

2. ( Kukanof , Aerial Acrobat ) Blue Gum

Close call , former has the advantage of weights. The latter has the  india's leading Owner cum Trainer , the eternal Bookies delight.

3.Super Sha , Bolzano , Rubellite.

Jockey willing Super Sha has to WIN. Jockey yet to establish credentials.

Bolzano was interfered last time. Can go close if the rider of SS is unable to offer assistance.

4.No Doubt , Blue Mala , Raaga.

Raaga is likely to be the shortest priced horse for the day. A gift to the trainer who has the least horses in the stable ?? One can wish it loses.

No Doubt and Blue Mala are both from Blr and hence carry some credibility.both are coming after long layoff and with negative equipment change. Not even sure if the concerned trainers will visit Mysore or ask some lackey to represent them.

Allowance Jockey on Aparanata does not send positive signals.

Miss International may place.

5.Lowndes Square , Time for All , Social Climber.

For having taken punters for a ride right through the season , Trainer Byramji can hope to make amends through LS which has the best rider doing duty.Meeting poor field relatively.

Social Climber must place to save Darashah the blushes.


Chronicle does not impress.

6.Sky Raider / Sound Of Power , Shahizaar , Beau Sancy.

Shahizaar is the best of the lot , trainer is now used to train repaired junk horses and using services of third class jockeys.

Beau Sancy can only place , what will be the odds ??

Sound of Power , worth taking a each way chance due to odds factor.

Sky raider - last effort was commendable. Trainer has to be compensated for My BOY.

Mysore - thursday races

shortlisted horses for the day , consciously  i have avoided listing the horses from a few stables which had a lot of winners in recent days.

1.Darling Dynamite , Isinbeyava ,Land of Smiles.

Vb race , I expect the first 2 horses to shine.


Isinbeyava should easily place. Rider has not WON many races in the recent past. Has a fair chance.


Leather Queen has picked up a race and will be out of depth at this handicap.


Heros Dominance is ridden by a mediocre jockey and hence preference given to the Demote from the same stable.


Splash of Beauty - has had some decent runs recently. Can hope to place if Land of Smiles is not given a good ride. 

Land of Smiles , having beaten the likes of Admiranda and lost to Ice Mint . What happened subsequently is a ??? Tubed or the Win was achieved through DOPE ,such poor performances .

2. Thumping Victory , Hurricane Royal , Kar O Bar.

Golden Tricks , last run was quite impressive with a mediocre jockey. Has positive switch here but equipment change is negative. Not sure of intent as trainer is not reliable , jockey is the best in the field.


Thumping Victory - best chance if one goes by the record.


Hurricane Royal - a reject from main centre , came back after a long break , finished on well in its only run at Mysore. Has the weights in favour and the champion jockey.


Kar O Bar - speedy , if others are found lacking can surprise.

3. Samajdhaar , Maximum City , North Cape.Fist of Rage

Fist of Rage has run with horses most of whom are now in class II . A few have Won classics and in class I. A rotten trainer , based on its last run looks a cinch , but with additional weight and shortening odds , lot of factors come into play. May start as favorite 
( below 1.50 ) and hence avoidable .The best in the field , ignored for non racing reasons.


Samajdhaar's last run was quite forward , though not in this class. Should place , can upset.


Maximum City - a migrant from Malakpet , has done nothing except lose when fancied. A long shot place prospect.


Lake of Fortune was ONE big gamble which came through recently. 
Rider looks out of depth , bloodlines are the best. Same with North Cape.

Frame Partner - doped horse , disqualified after a WIN in bangalore , better to back Fist of Rage than this. 

4.Ace High , Wynn , Waltz Away.

Ace High has lots of initial speed. Last 2 runs to be discounted due to junk jockeys and distance. Has a fair chance here.


Waltz Away - has not done justice since debut. Lost to some highly rated horses  earlier. Now running in poor set and yet to shine.


If money comes on Stormy Red , it can place.


Wynn - A Winner compared to most of the others , top weight and a average rider may not send right signals , the upset if any.

5 Bala's Glory , Miss Ruby , The Spartan .

Mom In Law is a horse in form , choice of rider is not positive due to the presence of the Spartan.


Bala's Glory has been a forward runner in last 2 outings. Has a good chance to strike here. Rider merit and odds to be factored,


Miss Ruby is speedy , rider switched due to allowance factor, can surprise.,


6.The World is Mine  , Mr Ambassador , Sparkling Image.


Close call. Could go any which way.


Happiness is a late starter and needs strong saddle support.

7. Swept Away , Real Magic , Ahira.

Swept Away has credentials to repeat.


Real Magic is speedy , can hope to give Trainer the First WIN this season.


Ahira is a demotee. Handicap seems attractive here.

On known form these are the picks for the day.


1.Stylish Chieftan , Golden Adagio , Euphonic.

2.Danny , Frontline , Toli Toli Toli.

3.Drayton , Bright Spectrum , Craven Cottage.

4.Rose Mead , Ice Rain , Fearless Mission.

5.Kings Cruise , Alberton Star , Suchiman.

6.Royal Turn , Sea Runner , Dazzling Princess.


Even on normal days , i dont recommend wagering horses which are quoted ONMONEY even if they are My first Choices.On concluding day there is no need to be more specific.

Mysore Derby day

Shortlisted horses and my preferences for the day are -

1.( Lady Kleio , Atom Bomb )  Jodi

Amazing Flora and Bonanza for Place.

Two 3 year old's from Sharat kumar are scheduled to make debut at Mysore , not sure of the reasons to keep it on hold for so long. In any case , chances of them obliging are very remote and at best one of them may place.


Lady Kleio and Atom Bomb have the weights in favour and a couple of forward runs earlier should enable them to put up  a decent show here.


Amazing Flora is aged , Bonanza has faltered to deceive. One of them should place.

2. Super Spectacle , Blue Origin ,  Alianz.


Race would be Won by one of the horses from Bangalore. Man United is a demotee if its runs in class III in bangalore in 2010 are considered. Most of the subsequent runs were dubious. When the time was right the Trainer landed a gamble. I cant see the horse Winning here.


Super Spectacle has a fair chance due to the presence of jockey Harish. There are some fitness and health issues with the horse . If all's well as will be evident by race time betting , worth taking a chance.


Blue Origin - Trainer skipped most of the season. Horse is conceding weight but meeting a rather inferior field. Can WIN.


Allianz - a late starter , may end up like Steel breaker of Hyderabad. Avoidable for WIN if fancied.


3.My Boy , Hurricane Ace ,Intizara.


My Boy displayed lots of speed in its previous runs , that may enable a WIN amongst poor company.

Allegro - fate will be known by race time. If tried will be below 3 to 1, if not will not find takers at 20 to 1 also.

4.Sweet Timer , Vigoroso , Heydan.


Last run of Sweet Timer with aged Krishnan was forward. With positive switch noticed here , has a good chance to deliver.


Heydan was unlucky to lose 3 rd spot at the post in last outing. Seemed fit , should place.


Vigoroso - handicap attractive , hope the rider is Vigorous in his efforts.


Enduring Speed is a class Iv horse and may struggle to finish in top 3. Green Bro is a demotee , conceding weight. Has seen better days.


5.Super Sprint , Koosha , Unique Show.


Based on its previous run , Super Sprint  WIN looks a formality.If the Odds are above Evens , worth considering , below that skip.


Koosha - a forward runner , can place.


Unique Show - obviously a better horse , first outing here. Tends to come with a flourish towards the closing stages.


Living Legend - if previous Victory with Jockey R Ravi is considered , the Horse can run to glory with the far superior Jockey John. But in most of these cases , the Trainers would prefer to run away with the punters money .

6.Wild Nexus , Rock All , Purple Glow.


Not sure of what to expect here.



Could end up as the upset race for the day.


7.Con Artiste , Foswell , Kingdom of Love.


Con Artiste is for  M Dwyer is to get a feel of the tracks ahead of Field Marshall. Has credentials to Win also. Horse is rarely seen in tracks , so punters have to go for Blind Bets only.


Foswell - if it stays the mile trip , a live threat. Was a runaway Winner over 1400 in previous outing.Foswell and Airplay are linked and hence a ?? on intent.


Air Play - has reached its peak . May have to consider runs in the Higher class as handicap is stiff here. May be out of depth in class I and hence the trainer may be trying his luck here.

Kingdom of Love is the genuine stayer over the trip and at the right handicap.Meeting younger horses , hence a ?? on its capability here.

8.Ohiyesa , Gazaki , Sweet Surrender.


Atlantus and Red Indian have had their share of Wins this season. The likes of Ravi and Deep Shankar are not usually seen Winning class I races and if trainer was really interested the allwance jockey would have been used.


Ohiysesa has a better rider and seems fit going by recent tracks.Should place. Can upset.


Gazaki - last run can be ignored as it lost its way in the betting , the top weights not helping matters. Has good turn of foot to be considered for a place spot.


Sweet Surrender - Was very impressive while Winning recently .


Oban has never delivered with weak jockeys as it needs strong saddle support.


Dance N Celebrate is not in this CLASS.


9.Mid Town Magic , Practically Perfect , Southern Bay.


Lad lady and I Specilaist are the no hopers , the universal opinion.


Bold Police is blazing the tracks , managed to finish 2 nd to Field Marshall ,as jockey on Mid Town Magic was pathetic. Over extended distance i cant see this horse doing well. With the late entry fees recovered in the colts stakes itself , i guess this entry will help the bookies and the trainer.A mysore based horse which is rated above 90 loses to the likes of field marshall , goes on to prove how lopsided these ratings are. beating Vb horses in mysore does not mean much.


Mid Town Magic - has beaten the likes of Silken Magic , Lovely Kiss and finished 2 nd to Windsor Manor. Has good saddle support here. there are doubts on staying capability but in centres like Mysore and Pune where the Straight is short , all these dont matter.


At the Helm - I have always backed this horse at longer odds , even though it was entrusted to average jockeys. Summer derby run was quite reasonable. But with just 1 Win since debut and not being regularly raced ,  there are questions on its fitness .


Field Marshall - is one paced and over this distance , that does not help. A Win in the recent classic does not enhance its credibility , as all its runs in Bangalore were quite poor.Was that deliberate , one cant state confidently as useless , hopeless , junk jockeys were used by the trainer.


Practically Perfect - has seen better company in Hyderabad. One Win in bangalore was against expectations. Trainer disguised its form by trying over shorter distance and using some mediocre jockeys. With the sire delivering regularly and the dam a outright stayer , has a fair chance.


Southern Bay - has come a lot since it beat Yawar and Silver Springs. Has failed the dope test after the recent WIN in mysore and hence there are doubts on its real ability.

My Top 3 in the order of the race card would be -

Mid Town Magic 
Practically Perfect 
At the Helm / Southern Bay

10.Leading Lady , Trillion Win , Sun Gold.


Post derby , i dont expect fancied horses to oblige. The shortlisted horses have credibility to place. race time odds will give clear picture of the Winner.


Glitterato is a late starter and has poor saddle support.


Mercutio - rider is very poor these days , handicap is attractive,. Horse has not WON for ages.



11.Sparkling Star , Hatchet Harry , Maverical.


R Kochi is there for the ODDS I guess.


Maverical is poorly bred , difficult to WIN may place.


Ceasaria - if pockets are full after earlier gambles will be tried and seen in front bunch , else will be gracing the wrong end of the field.







There are TWO additional race days this month @ Mysore and those who feel obliged to lose today will strike on the festive days ahead.

Pune - concluding day

concluding day of the Pune season 2011. Going by the race card , looks like the results would be kind to followers of form in most races. 

1. Cougar , This is It , Musical Rhapsody.

Though M.Rhapsody , Last Tango and Sacred Relic are the Winners in recent memory , ts difficult for them to repeat in the same class , though the field is not the best.


Upsets if any are from the first 2 named horses with the latter being a slow starter. If it takes a good jump , fair chance.


Cougar - Distance seems apt after many dubious runs over shorter distances. If intent visible a good chance.

2. Ashwa Prahar , Winchester , Beemer.

Lake Leader is carrying the burden of being a favorite and going by the dubious record of the hooker specialist Trainer , may not even grace the board. Home Again , Class Apart, Sledge Hammer , Blau Himmel , none placed on fryday. Not that they were the best , just that when there is a sinister pattern in the entries and the way the horses ran.


Winchester is a promotee and has lots of initial speed. Can place.


Ashwa Prahar has done well this season and that may fetch a place spot.

3.Steely Dan , Catalyst , Thriller.

Close call between the first 2 named horses.


Thriller can place at longer odds,

Others dont impress.

4.Follow the Dream , Blessed.

limited options , Follow the Dream has to logically beat Blessed only. Rest seem backward.

5.Cape Ferret , Pepe Junior , Ocean Wish.

Class I race with many promotes from class II. Genuine class I horses are conceding weight and choice of jockey does not inspire confidence.

Cape Ferret is known for its speed and has the best chance.

Aged Pepe Junior has the services of a Jockey who fared poorly on Friday.Can place if he shows some competence here.

Ocean Wish is a double promote if its initial runs this season in pune are considered. Did WIN a race on promotion recently , the lack of genuine contenders helped it achieve a WIN. Can hope to place here, 

6.Dictator , Star Vision , Lakhdema.

On Current form its difficult to look beyond these Three horses. Could go any which way.Youngster Dovers Hill is from a rogue trainer. Not sure what to expect.

7.Cielo Ray , Onassis.

Macchupichhu - no doubt the best , having Won twice in pune , its not going to be easy again conceding weight and travelling over this distance . Can LOSE.

Onassis has a fair record to fall back upon. A genuine contender. 

Cielo ray -a known front runner , sacrificed for stable mate Aristos at Malapet. Has a good chance to come good here. 


Native Knight - has managed to WIN , one race this season and Two in its career. Hence there is a ?? on ability to deliver.

8.Botswana , Artic Ministrel , Soneeyo.

The youngsters have a fair chance to WIN.


The horses which are conceding weight does not impress over this distance as the initial speed of the above horses may be a bit tough to handle .


Dancing Glances is out handicapped and Lake Superior is not known for SPEED. 

Both DG an LS are coming to tracks after a longish gap and do not look genuine entries. 


Artic Ministrel has been very consistent and should place easily.


Botswana - won impressively , can repeat.

9.Hymn Path , Victorie , Star Blessings.

Youngsters , all non Winners looking to break the shackles. 


Hymn Path was very impressive in its last outing. Should be moral for place. May upset.


Star Blessings - if it takes a good jump , can shine.

10.Sterling Silver , Towering High , Shahdeez.

Last race of the season . Be prepared for some surprises.

Shortlisted horses for the day are mentioned below. These are not in any order and preference is for the horse with Higher odds for obvious reasons. Each way bets are the norm during the concluding stages as betting only for WIN may prove fatal.

Choices for the day , with short comments based on Night odds.

1.Golden Kingdom , Inner Harmony ,Stud of Gold.

I expect a good performance from Golden Kingdom due to jockey merit.Trainer's blank record this season is a reason to consider a bet as season end gift is possible. 

Stud of Gold is a chance bet for place.

2.Emerging Star , Al Zamarud , Golden Spurs.

First named has the edge , starts as favorite. Hope it obliges. 

Chance bet on Golden Spurs for the odds.



3.Class Apart , River Blitz.

Class Apart has some recent tracks , worth a bet.

Moon Flower - no recent tracks

4.Sledge Hammer , Jens Glory.

Lets hope C Rajendra regains winning form on Sledge Hammer.

Sheriff has  paid decent dividends Twice this season and with it being fancied by the bookies this time , there could be a  fall in performance. 

5.Guernica , Sweaty Betty , Lady Black Star.

SB has failed twice and once punters are tired , trainer may give instructions to strike . Worth a bet for that reason.

Guernica can do well. 

6.Arabian Eagle ,Bonny Light ,Blau Himmel.


Bad race to consider , as most horses may lose out in the betting prior to the race itself.


7.Flying Kiss , Adams Vision , Ashwa Sakira.

One more fancied horse from the Champion Trainer. May deliver here.

  

8.Silk Cut , Suryaveer.

based on Derby run SuryaVeer may look a certainty for place and may upset.

Not sure why Shroff's horse is in the betting.
 

Silk Cut lost to Alma Meter , if it can tackle the mile trip a decent chance.Owners Double. 

9.Great White , Home Alone , Grant Park.

I do get the feeling that the Horses in the ODDS may give way  to some unfancied horse.

10.Afsoon , Ishpingo , Its My Way.

Ishpingo starts as Favorite as debut run was quite forward though finishing seemed bad.

Afsoon has experience and that may make a difference.

11. Native Lady , Mahima . Crowned Princess.

Horses which are making debut on the penultimate day of the racing season may have fitness issues and will logically fund the bookies.  
 

12.McQueen , Fairy Queen , Machala.

First named deserves one more chance. 

Machala has taken the punters to the cleaners. Meeting very poor field here , yet trainer capable of ensuring it does not shine.

Jockeys Rajendra and Trevor ,  Trainers Lagad , B.Chenoy , Antia & S Chavan may shine on Fryday.
