my choices for the day -
1.Aleutian Zone , Hannah Montana , Fantastic.
VB race to start off the day.
Horses 2,3,4,8 have no chance whatsoever.
Rest come into contention by default.
2.Grant Park , Absolute Reality.
Blue Mellon the fancied horse has been brought down a lot on handicap , does have decent credentials , rider merit will decide its fate.
Grant park - one of the most consistent horses during this season. Can WIN and provide some relief to the trainer / owner.
Royal Prince - late debutant , not sure of its fitness.
3.Ashwa Gaurav , Lucky Misba
Jodi race , with the rest being friendly entries to make the race card viable.
4.Gold Vault , Rising Asset , Tease Me.
VB race.
5. Marudhara Ratan , Golden Spurs , Loyal Tycoon.
Claim to Fame has seen better days having WON twice in Pune. The last few runs in Mumbai runs were with mediocre riders. Difficult to consider a bet with M Roushan who is also in the same category.
Golden Spurs looks moral for place.
Marudhara Ratan - has the services of a decent rider. Has WON Twice this season , can WIN .
Distinguished - lower class Winner , ridden by the worst ever rider in rwitc, Can be eaten for place also.
6.Youngsters.
Ashwa Prajot , Bay Blues and Celsius are all tracking well .
Born to Race , drifted alarmingly on debut. Can only place here.
7.Tomorrow's Dreams , Uproar , Reinstate.
National Ikon failed favorite , now being ridden by allowance jockey , whose handling of favorites has only benefited the bookies all through the season.
Tomorrows' Dreams - can make it thrice in a row. Is a promotee , last 2 runs were very promising.
8. Arabian Rock , River Tern , Inner Harmony.
Arabian Rock looks to be a good bet. Rest if for the mediocre Jockey to deliver.
Inner Harmony - with most horses ridden by mediocre jockeys , there is a good chance for this horse to deliver as the the handicap is attractive. Kavraj Singh's intentions with Fiery Fortune in the fray is a ??

mumbai - choices for sunday
the choices for the day along with the night odds are as follows - As is the usual case all ONMONEY favorites recommended can be ignored.
1.Eye of the Storm - WIN / Shp
Star Fall has failed so often that its difficult to recommend particularly when it starts as favorite. Blinkers ON may help it WIN here. Owner is seen struggling to find winners this season.
Lyrical Symphony - winner in lower class , may at best come 2 nd ,
Eye of the Storm - has done well this season. Distance seems fit. Can upset if the rider shows some sparkle. Trainer has opted for A.Asbar though he has the services of riders who have won races for him in this season.
2. Star Trainer WIN or Highland Music SHP.
Schnell loses out due to distance and Jockey factor.
Star Trainer has done well over 1400 this season. 1200 distance does look sharp but with just 3 genuine contenders , can WIN .
Highland Music - a front runner fit for 1000 only. Rider is known to HIT the front in all races. May be lucky if the others fail to catch up.
Demonstrator - Trainer M.K.Jadhav regularly experiments with some mediocre riders. Lost a certain race on saturday when Jockey Sunil was opted to ride . Same case here , Horse is capable , has finished 2 nd to Nefyn , credibility is there , but rider is poor , hence ignored.
3. Salt - Win
{ in the light of the night odds , not even worth considering a bet , look for place options )
Calabria and Afsoon will both have a chance to place.
4.Soneeyo - WIN , if the odds are decent enough to wager a bet.
( if odds drift to Even Money by race time , worth a bet )
or
Sky Way - Each way - Dasrath , rides for the first time for Trainer Shroff who also gets the first horse to train for this particular Owner. Horse is very well bred and is capable of striking on debut.
Faramarz or Spirit of Mercy - one of them can place at loner odds.
Blitzing does not impress.
5. Is either Sweet Nothings or Tommy Carmicheal - based on race time odds.
After 4 Wins , last Sunday , trainer I A Sait did take it easy on saturday . Sweet Nothings has good credentials to WIN as its earlier effort by finishing 2 nd was impressive.
Tommy Carmicheal is sure to place. Can be the end of season Surprise.
Cougar needs strong saddle support , with M Roushan doing duty , i guess a WIN is ruled out.

Oasis Gold - am sure that the name OASIS is not going to make a difference to the outcome of this race. Can at best place .

Has participated with better horses in this season. Meeting moderate set here. Can WIN.
Circus Ring - lot of expectations on debut. obviously a repair case as the debut was at 4 years . Impressive pedigree , not sure whether it will run well here.
Maradhura Rathan and Banana Boy - looking good for place.

here are the comments / choices for the day -
The only horses in with a chance are - Seen it All , Flying Tackle and The Rebel.
Obviously Seen It All will garner all support on account of its earlier 2 nd in the higher class to Titleist and Hunter Bay in the previous seasons. After utilising junk jockeys to reduce the handicap the master trainer is now back to where he belongs - class VB and at the same handicap , when it faced superior horses. Expect it to be Below EVENS , the night odds will give fair indication. At those odds in a VB race the only option is to either skip the bet or have a negative bet hoping it turns out to be another Beyond the Stars / Onassis type race.
The Rebel looks good here and based on race time odds , decision could be taken , WIN or Each Way or only place
Flying Tackle - distance looks sharp but jockey merit can see it coming through.
2. ( Insite Soul , Cavalry Man ) Rajdoot are the horses which are to be noted.
Insite Soul after many dubious runs with mediocre jockeys has the services of a decent jockey this time out but will the Horse oblige ??
Rajdoot - in and out running , jockey one of the worst ever seen in Mumbai. Can hope to place.
Cavalry Man has the best chance here in the absence of worthy opposition save Insite Soul as it enjoys the advantage in weights.
Bemisaal would be a good negative bet for place.
3. Sexy Eyes , Harmaloff.
Harmaloff has greater claims due to its smashing Wins on all 3 occassions , the only issue being it beat were nothing of note. Dancing Dame may have WON Twice subsequently but it beat the likes of Marudhara Rathan. Also the change from Prakash to Dasrath does not convey the right intent. One of the first times , we get to see a Horse running over distances in the first 5 runs. 1200 , 1600 , 2000 , 1400 1800.
Sexy Eyes has always run in superior fields and with its tactics of front running may just about manage to hold on Harmaloff.
Living the Dream , is a contender for 2 nd spot if one of the above 2 fancied runners are unable to make it.
4. ( River Tern / Born Destiny ) Victor Ivanov.
River Tern last run can be discounted as it was ridden by S.Kamble . Has better credibility with Zervan who had Won on this horse.
Born Destiny - ran a close 6 th to Tomorrow Dreams , handicap seems attractive here. Rest depends on the Jockey.
Victor Ivanov - should place , has been quite consistent.
Ashwa Prayag - will start as favorite. How many horses brought down to the lowest class by this trainer. Can it all succeed. One Taanush is enough for the season. Looks difficult as distance looks sharp.
5. Brave Gypsy , Apache Indian , Thunder Strike.
Looks quite open. Brave Gypsy has better credentials after its 3 rd to Arbudh .
Apache Indian is a known front runner , has been unable to Strike this season.Last run was not very encouraging but can easily place.
Thunder Strike - but for the handicap could have been a good bet.
Brilliant Moon - WON Vb races , beat very poor opposition , can at best place.
6.Viva Da Diva , Ran Banka , Silver Soul , Ocean Emperor.
the last named has seen better days having lost to many illustrious horses. Distance looks sharp , does not have initial speed.
Viva Da Diva - ran a pathetic race losing as on money favorite to Aqualina. Did not even place , has good speed. Can strike here if the trainer decides to , favorite is from RKW whose horses are also trained by Antia.
Ran Banka and Silver Soul - looking good for place.
7.Bartimaues , Miracle of Mercy , Victory Road.
youngsters , i expect 2 of the above 3 horses to be in the limelight.
8.Rose Bowl , Cloud Cover , Steely Dan.
but for the absolutely mediocre ride by Aadesh Kumar , Steely Dan could have easily Won in the previous outing.With the stable Jockey assigned to the task , the expectations will be high. Can WIN , may WIN but i would skip a WIN bet this time.
Cloud Cover - unlike Snow Queen race which was over a mile , this race which is 1200 metres may suit this horse. Should place.
Rose Bowl - upset for the day if any , with so many horses from the Delhi Based Owner participating in the races , it is expected to atleast place.
Oceanic Wisdom - coming after a long break to keep the bookies happy.

Going by the statistics of matches played and points as on date , the odds offered reflect the factual position of the Top 4 teams .
Rajasthan Royals has turned out to be the worst team as the Captain is trying some innovations which wont succeed in India. A Captain who sends Ross Taylor at number 6 even after Dravid and Botha are not playing deserves a pat in the back considering the mediocrity seen in the Indian Contingent.It should be his last season at IPL , time to look for younger minds and legs.
Royal Challengers has never come together as a team and the top order has failed repeatedly. Bowling department is very weak and the large scale migration of players to other teams have affected its performance. If Vettori is the captain of a 20/20 team , one can very well imagine how Good the team is .
I had some expectations on Deccan after seeing the impressive line up. But Sangakara has failed to capitalise on the talent available . Sending the likes of Goni ahead of Venugopal Rao shows his limitations.Persisting with bowlers who have failed to deliver is another weak point. On individual merit the team can match upto the best but team strategy is very very poor,. Does not deserve to finish in top 6.
Dare Devils did get the better of the Pune Warriors , but that was a One off performance as the over reliance on Sehwag and Warner and the lack of quality bowlers will affect their chances.
Kochi may have beaten the top 2 rated teams Mumbai and Chennai , still have a long way to go.
Kolkat Knight Riders are at the top , WON 2 matches against RR which was one sided , will be meeting quality teams in the next few days and this will test their strenghts.
Kings 11 Punjab are driing high on the success of Paul Chandrashekar Valthathy.Not sure how long this will last.
Pune Warriors have great performers like Robin Uthappa who loves to play to the gallery. His performance does not justify the Auction price,. Their bowling is very very weak , , following the footsteps of Delhi and Rajasthan .
Mumbai is relying too much on Malinga and Sachin and if one of them Fail then team crumbles.Difficult so sustain the momentum at a later stage.
Chennai flattered to deceive ,losing to the weakest teams in the Tournament.Has scope for Improvement.

Rajasthan Royals has turned out to be the worst team as the Captain is trying some innovations which wont succeed in India. A Captain who sends Ross Taylor at number 6 even after Dravid and Botha are not playing deserves a pat in the back considering the mediocrity seen in the Indian Contingent.It should be his last season at IPL , time to look for younger minds and legs.
Royal Challengers has never come together as a team and the top order has failed repeatedly. Bowling department is very weak and the large scale migration of players to other teams have affected its performance. If Vettori is the captain of a 20/20 team , one can very well imagine how Good the team is .
I had some expectations on Deccan after seeing the impressive line up. But Sangakara has failed to capitalise on the talent available . Sending the likes of Goni ahead of Venugopal Rao shows his limitations.Persisting with bowlers who have failed to deliver is another weak point. On individual merit the team can match upto the best but team strategy is very very poor,. Does not deserve to finish in top 6.
Dare Devils did get the better of the Pune Warriors , but that was a One off performance as the over reliance on Sehwag and Warner and the lack of quality bowlers will affect their chances.
Kochi may have beaten the top 2 rated teams Mumbai and Chennai , still have a long way to go.
Kolkat Knight Riders are at the top , WON 2 matches against RR which was one sided , will be meeting quality teams in the next few days and this will test their strenghts.
Kings 11 Punjab are driing high on the success of Paul Chandrashekar Valthathy.Not sure how long this will last.
Pune Warriors have great performers like Robin Uthappa who loves to play to the gallery. His performance does not justify the Auction price,. Their bowling is very very weak , , following the footsteps of Delhi and Rajasthan .
Mumbai is relying too much on Malinga and Sachin and if one of them Fail then team crumbles.Difficult so sustain the momentum at a later stage.
Chennai flattered to deceive ,losing to the weakest teams in the Tournament.Has scope for Improvement.
going by this logic , the qualifying teams would be from -
Mumbai Indians , Kolkata Knight Riders , Chennai Super Kings , Pune Warriors.
At best one of the above could lose the spot to Delhi Dare Devils / Kings II punjab.

the 3 musketeers
over the past 4 race days the Champion trainer Pesi Shroff has had a single entry on 3 days , One race day he preferred to stay.All three horses were fancied and were On Money favorites to start with , the drifting of the odds at race time conveyed the fate to the punters.
1.Besame Mucho - ridden by Zervan
2.Blue Flash - ridden by Zervan
3.Onassis - ridden by Zervan
and the performance / result is in Public domain. His fascination for Jockey S Zervan to serve his needs is well known right from the days of Amoro Mio.
If his best horses are not participating regularly in the handicap races during the last few days of the season , why then give Token entries in other races ?? Horses need rest and they are to be raced sparingly but if that is the criteria why burden some with 10 runs a season and try to use the likes of Beasme Mucho and Blue Flash to fund the bookies , both these horses were made to run after a long absence from the track, had run only Once earlier .Is it to pay back those whose favors are require in the dope suspension case.
The Loss of Onassis can be explained . Having being Winless for past 2 years it managed to break the Jinx in the Karl Umrigar Trophy which is considered to be his Bastion. After that WIN , i guess its time to wait for another Dozen losing entries. The presence of the Hyderabad based Owner of Sprint Star at RWITC for this particular race did get reflected in the odds. During the earlier 4 runs , trainer stayed back at Hyd and the same rider played his role to perfection.
Just watch the race in slow motion and retain this video for posterity. Check the timings clocked by the very same 3 horses in the earlier 2 outings and it is abundantly clear that this was a set up race , sadly rider Sandesh spoilt the show..
The succeeding race was a handicap race for Class III horses and the Winner seems to have WON in a better time. Agreed timings depend on the pace of the race but then the timing variation and tactics used confirm that the class I race was not for punters who bet on the favorites.
the class or lack of it of Dancing Dame will be known in the future , it WON carrying Top weight.A feat worthy of mention but can it Win a class I race within the next year ??
if the likes of a class IV Winner Marudhara Rathan is close enough to the timings in a class I race ,what is there to infer ??.

Going by relative performances , the terms suited Onassis and Mr Greedy and yet Sprint Star finishes ahead . There is talk of Jockey merit but that is not supposed to matter to Class I horses. Surely trainers have better common sense than Punters , they know the riding capability of the riders entrusted.
All these days Sprint Star played a waiting game , coming from off the pace and on Sunday he tracked the front runner. Sadly he was unable to keep the momentum going as the Money was on the horse. Earlier outings the Money was on ONASSIS and they en cashed. The Owners of Sprint Star may have been mighty pleased if it had WON decisively , now they have to do with part payment.
Less said the better about the tactics adopted by Onassis and mr Greedy. It is shameful to see the first 2 favorites ending 4 th and 5 th , even White Knight managed to finish ahead of these 2 . the official handicapper must be embarrassed by the turn of events.
( as a punter , i backed M Trot and Sprint Star , also had a negative bet on Onassis , Blue Flash and Besame Mucho . Hence all these 3 races was in my favour , just putting up the facts for public consumption )
Trainer C D Katrak , may have had a better record over the past 2 weeks but those following his record will observe that 80 % of his Wins have been prior to the dope case result was made known to the public , after that the down slide started. Was the discontinuation of drugs leading to non performance or just that the training methods were not showing results is a ??
Beyond the stars , opening odds at 60 , closed at 1.05 and what happened ??it finished 100 metres behind the eventual Winner which incidentally is owned by the chairman Vivek Jain. Venus Rose Water horse was backed spiritedly from 4.5 to close at 2.75
If he needed any favors from those who administer the affairs of the Club , he has managed to do so. The Chairman always likes to have 2 Winners and Dancing Dame and Venus obliged just as they had done a few weeks ago.The fate of BEYOND the STARS known to every punter prior to the star of the race. Was it the Water Therapy or something else the vet would be in a better position to state.The monetary loss of account of Signorelli a month ago ( horse stopped mid way in debut run and was put to SLEEP ) recovered smartly .
same with S.K.Sunderji , whose horses have not shown any inclination to do well for the past 2 months. Just about managed a double today to keep the Powerful Owners / breeder in good humour.How many dubious runs this season from all his horses , all his entries horses losing to mediocre horses.All entries purely meant to keep those who matter in good humor.

1. Feminist , Taanush , Guernica.
Taanush was seen in a class II race in Pune in August,2010 and in a class 3 race in Decemer at Mumbai. Now participating in CLASS Vb with active cooperation of the official handicapper. Looks sure to place.
Cougar - Owners are long overdue for a WIN , horse is bred to stay but with the 1.50 allowance negated due to completion of 40 Winners , looks difficult for WIN.
Feminist - last run was noteworthy. Is capable of UPSET as it enjoys the handicap over the younger opponents.
Guernica - bred to stay , can place if the rider shows some competence.
2.Scenic Silver , Sea Sucaneer , Daffodils.
Dash for cash race, looks quite open. Jockey competency / incompetency will decide the fate of the horses.
3.Follow the Dream , Special Fix , Prince Arius.
I A Sait trained Esmeraldo gifted a race to Abbas trained Bongani. The change in rider at the last moment and the presence of the Breeder Owner did help Bongani. With Suraj to guide its fortunes a lot of expectations are on Esmeraldo but Draw 10 does not help in terms races. Hence ignored here.
Follow the Dream is tracking very well , should Win. Worth only if the odds are decent.
Special Fix is bred well , can place.
Prince Arious is looking good in tracks , has some good siblings , can shine on debut.
4. Running Sun should get the better of Halo of Fame in this race.
Beyond the Stars will be fancied on the basis of its noteworthy 2 nd to Aston Martin. Loses out on the choice of jockey.
5. Misschevious Trot , Sprint Star.
Mr Greedy has credentials but this run looks a bit too early for comfort for a 7 year old.
Onassis is ridden by Zervan who imagines himself to be the R Hughes of indian racing with his over confident rides letting down many punters. Looks difficult for WIN.At best SHP.
Sprint Star - whats the purpose of sending this horse to Mumbai ?? Presence of the Owner will give fair indication of its chances.
M Trot - has the best credentials based on handicap , rider merit and consistency.
6.Distant Promise , Ocean Queen , Marudhara Ratan.
Dancing Dame is out handicapped here and the terms of this race suits Marudhara Ratan if race 281 is considered.
Distant Promise has seen better days and can Oblige if the intent to do well is visible at race time.
Ocean Queen - consistent failure , can the change of jockeys may bring in desired result ? Good for place.
7. Smooth Operator , True Elegance , Macho Uno.
Nou Camp is fir for 1000 metres.
Star Vision is penalised for the Win in race 320. Looks difficult here though the field is inferior. Handicap is stiff and the short break of 1 week does not help.

Here are the comments on the races along with the Night odds -
Orito in its second appearance starts as favorite purely on the basis of the 2 nd to Aqualina on debut. Rider is back after suspension , how does the debut performance make it the favorite when horses which have WON races are also participating. On that grounds the best Negative bet to start off the day.
Personally i do feel that Constantina or Samiel can make it. Constantina loves to go to the front and the handicap is attractive compared to earlier run. Rider is not encouraged at this blog as he is absolutely mediocre but if the odds are good , One can definitely take a chance.
Samiel - eternal failure , one last chance at the end of the season for the Owner ??
Flying Jewel ran against some class II horses in Pune and later won a couple of races with the same jockey. As he was suspended the runs in Mumbai can be discounted as they were Bogus . Did lose to Carabbean Queen and Star Seeker , both trained by Shroff jockeys entrusted to ride looked the other way and horse lost its way in the betting. Earlier it lost to ICON . Last run this horse was late off from the blocks . All suspicious runs but then what to expect from the trainers , who are let off by the stipes whenever they hook.

Ashwa Paarth should finish 4 th , so this odds of 3.5 is not right. May end up at 10 to 1 as i expect Saints and Sinners to be in the odds at race time. Last time Ashwa Parth despite getting weight all round ran like a dud. For the records this horse has just WON in Delhi , all VB races , a perfect VB centre.
Bullet - 5 runs unlucky , can it make it on the 6 th time like stable mate Starrer. I dont think so , besides only a person with huge pockets can afford to bet horses at these odds.,
Highland Bounty , has the services of the disgraced rider. Distance is apt and bloodlines decent. Can run well.
Saints and Sinners - after the enquiry , trainer ensured that next 3 runs were EYE WASH runs meant for the stipes. Running with new owners.

i cant decide here between the TWO , as Blue Flash was mighty impressive , covering a lot of ground in earlier run.Won at 20 to 1. Trainer Owner and Jockey , showed what they are capable of when the Odds was .50 for Besame Mucho.
In any case at the odds offered , its not worth , since the long break from 20/01 to 15/04 is unexplained. Trainers and Owners always look for opportunity to earn stake money and this horse was in the stables munching food ?? instead of running races. Or was in the vet hospital. Worth considering negative bet.
Star Treasure , a Winner once , after that then losing as favorite.
i am going to have a small bet on Arbudh. Each way.

In race 249 , the jockey decided to keep it as far as possible from the eventual Winner , though it was carrying low weights. No doubt the winner was superior but why change tactics , as punters come to realise it after after the race starts. Hence i would keep away from Ancient Wonder. If it Wins, good day to Haresh Mehta.
Amouresque has decent credentials . Can upset again.

RCB has completely lost the plot die to many unfit players in the Playing 11. Also not performing as a team. Over dependence on Dilshan and De villers who were both unable do well even for Delhi in the earlier editions.
Kochi and Delhi have a few big time hitters in the team. Once they are taken care off , the rest just crumble. If and when these players succceed the team may win a few matches , that probability seems quite remote going by the current form.
kings 11 punjab , did beat chennai , a One off incident. Many test / ODI discards in the team.
kolkata is best placed , going by the bench strenght as well as the team players. is the only team from the bottom 5 which can displace a fancied team.
deccan chargers have some quality batsmen like Christian , Sangakarra , Dhawan , Chipli and Duminy . The bowlers like Steyn and Misra can turn the tables based on the variation they posess.

RCB has completely lost the plot die to many unfit players in the Playing 11. Also not performing as a team. Over dependence on Dilshan and De villers who were both unable do well even for Delhi in the earlier editions.
Kochi and Delhi have a few big time hitters in the team. Once they are taken care off , the rest just crumble. If and when these players succceed the team may win a few matches , that probability seems quite remote going by the current form.
kings 11 punjab , did beat chennai , a One off incident. Many test / ODI discards in the team.
kolkata is best placed , going by the bench strenght as well as the team players. is the only team from the bottom 5 which can displace a fancied team.
deccan chargers have some quality batsmen like Christian , Sangakarra , Dhawan , Chipli and Duminy . The bowlers like Steyn and Misra can turn the tables based on the variation they posess.

not much activity in the first round matches as most of them were ONE SIDED.
The potential of most of the teams can be gauged from the debut matches.
Knight Riders and There are a few good players who would be participating after a few matches and their presence could make a difference in the later stages.
As of now the only certainty is that Kings 11 Punjab and Deccan Charges may not qualify for the next stage . This prediction is based on current performance.
Though Kolkata Knight Riders and Kochi Tuskers Kerala also lost , the composition of the team suggests that they can do well in the subsequent outings and reach the next stage.
RCB Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils , both looked a bit shaky and its difficult to see them Winning the Tournament.
