First day Mumbai races - 2012 -

Comments and Choices for the day.

1. Word of Honor -  was backed spiritedly in previous outing when ridden by a junk rider going by the name of R Shelar. Shifted stables after that disaster. Has seen better company since debut. A good chance to WIN.

Trainer Shroff is a Class Apart, that is a known fact.What is surprising is to to see his entry in a Class VB race.  As is well known Jockey Ruzzan is adapt in riding bottom handicap horses , reason being his  riding weight of 47 kilos.  With these 2 factors in mind , i prefer to ignore its claims though it has default credentials . Field is very backward.

2. Wind of the North - Tracking impressively , very well bred and has the services of the top jockey to deliver. Should get the better of Silver Birch which was an expensive failure on debut.  

3.Spirit of Merci , lost as 70/100 favorite to Sugar Loaf in Pune. This entry must be eligible for Ripley's Believe it or not considering the progress seen in Sugar Loaf . The next couple of runs were in superior company.   Flash Forward finished 4 th in the above referred race , has subsequently lost twice as favourite over 1000 metres , losing to pretty ordinary horses.
Going by the above logic , i go in for Spirit of Merci.  

Magdelena is officially under the care of S.Habbu who is permanently stationed at Kolkata.Has only rejects from Shroff . Many failures from his stable in recent past. A 4 year old making debut does not impress.

4.Heavenly Price was an impressive Winner in the lower class .Has to beat Stuntacular which seems to have regained lost form , has WON a race in Pune. But as is well known the fate of most horses from this stable is known only at race time.

5.Etesian And Misri are the Contenders in my opinion. The latter has seen far far superior class since debut , yet unable to shed maiden status. The Former after Winning a race in Pune has had a run recently , is ridden by a very sincere jockey. Take a call based on race time odds.


6.Attila - only reason to ignore is due to the jockey factor. This is the first time the horse is ridden by Rajendra , his handling is not the best in class I races.


Siachen - had CLASS , lost it due to some inept handling by those concerned. Tring a comeback after losing to some pretty ordinary horses in Mysore. 


Ancient Wonder - is on a ROLL practically . Yet having regard to the relative handicap it is clear that its not an easy task to WIN again.


Elizibeth - ran as favorite in race 61 , odds was 3.5 for WIN and Evens for place. A look at how the race progressed  will reveal that the horse was never in contention at any stage of the race , jockey was not interested , Reason being race 62 was the 1000 Guineas and top jockeys rarely try to exert themselves prior to the big event. Has been doing well over 1200. With the weights in favor and the not so impressive form of other horses should be one of the top contenders.


Hatsuhana - M.Kharadi is the equivalent of Ryan Marshall in western india.


7. Strings of My Heart - finished 5 th to Rebecca in race 50 when the handicap was stiff.Has stripped fitter , with an allowance jockey declared to ride , the chances of doing well has improved considerably. The final result will depend on the way the jockey handles the race. Worth a bet as none of the others have better claims.

8.A VB race to conclude the days proceedings. The fancied duo have participated in race 59 WON by rank outsider Tag Along Tommy. With hardly any tracks , its not possible to justify a WIN bet on both of them. Savage Garden is a one paced horse , not possible to consider it as the best in the fray on the basis of the close 2 nd to Equiano.

hyderabad / kolkata - Sunday races

Short selections , lack of time as well as too many centres having races today.


Hyderabad.


1. Handsome Hunk is looking the best. Jockey B.Sreekanth has not yet opened his account in Hyderabad. That is the only cause for worry as he has been unable to judge the tracks .Worth taking a chance and hoping for the best.


Golden Adagio should place.


2. 1400 metres , race for the youngsters ,  going by previous results at this centre ,  the unanimous is well known . Will run at meagre odds. Whats the point even considering a bet in this race.


3. 25 Pips , has been very consistent.  Not sure of what the odds would be like and if that qualifies as a BET.


Cheaspeake - is the horse which  can trouble the fancied horse.


4. Heart N Soul got interfered badly , in the race WON by Bribe Madi.  On that count it is capable of doing well. If longer priced worth considering either a place bet on EACH WAY.


5. the TWO leading jockeys will be seen fighting for the top spot. Not worth taking sides , with either of them. On weights Ben Chocolate may have edge on experience Cannon Jet seems stronger.


6. The penalty for Winning a race is not high at Malakpet. Oasis Vision and Snow Bird have the credentials to repeat again. Bangalore based horses may have to be happy with place.


7.  Excluding the fancied runners who have merit to WIN , I like Magic Million and Greek Fire . One of them should definitely place and can progress ahead based on jockey merit.


8. Who stays best WINS the OAKS. 
Three horses are rated above 80.  F. Glory , P. Perfect and S.Lakshmi. 
Rest are short of class.




9. Winner spotting is difficult here.  West Minister Won very well but relative handicap is stiff. Difficult to repeat is my feeling. Not sure if Melody Queen can carry this weight.  Sanjaa is a late starter and Stylish Chieftan is ridden by  P.A.Culhane who is back after a long break. Miss Water Melon has failed thrice , has weights , but does it have the class is the ??? 

Hence , no harm in going with Air Borne Magic - a small chance - each way purely for the odds on offer.




Kolkata -

Alford and Deepak Khaitan have made the habit of picking 4-5  winners on the first day of every calender year. Will that repeat again ??  Winning  a couple looks realistic.


1.Skip. Crown Empress is the best on merit , on handicap , a difficult decision to make.


2.Coppelia and Glynneath - both are capable.


3.Apple Candy , Accomplished , Bhima ?? take your pick.


4. bad race , best of the lot are Jive , Elusive Thought and Silken Senorita. The last named coming to tracks after a long break. If jockey is good , can do it.

5.Star Symphony , Special FX , Silken Dancer.


6.Sanskriti , Leonidas , Saddle Chief , Roman Centurion.  All in with a chance no clear favorite. The first named is yet to WIN a race , that makes it a risky bet to consider.

7.Silverina , Star Alone , Accrews - anybody's race.

8.Cambiasso or Razmaden.

9.Blue Grass , Polariser , Bavaria.

Bangalore - last racing day of 2011

The darling of the bookmakers P.S.Chouhan has accepted 6 rides on Saturday , its difficult to even guess on how many he will be able to deliver to the bookies by way of new year gift. He did his best for them on Friday .If they are contended , they may instruct him to please the punters for atleast a couple of races. 

Suraj Narredu , has 5 rides , and obvious that all 5 will be in the ODDS.

Punters are left guessing on the relative merit of the horses ridden by these 2 jockeys. 

Here are the views for the day - in the order of the race card -


1.  Two year old's , nothing certain  as surprises are the norm.


Anonymous aptly named is ridden by Ryan Marshall , who is a glorified rider boy for a few top trainers.The absence of Anthony C , gives room for him to try his luck on this horse.His record on friday was simply superb. I wish he dreams of a WIN to nite , that may at least enable a good performance on race day.

Clever Trick , one of the better bred horses in the fray. Has positive change in equipment which is a signal that the Horse may do well.Trainers like Britto , Dominic , Prasanna Kumar , Lokanath are specialists. When equipped with Aluminium SHOES , horses will Shine . Next outing they will sport Steel Shoes and will finish 20 lenghts behind the horses it had beaten earlier.No questions asked on improved performance or pathetic performance.


Imperial Verse - other than being sired by Noverre , there are no credentials. M.Dwyer seems to have come only to ride Two horses - Field Marshall and In the Spotlight .On the rest he is as mediocre as any other.

Simply Super - Great bloodlines.As mentioned earlier , difficult to select the best of the 6 horses to be ridden by this jockey.  

Sumela - bred for speed , as good a chance as any of the others in the fray.

Sweet Secret - who will ride , jockey declared to ride not known as of now.

2.On class , Eagle Claws looks the best . Recent form has been a bit poor , if even half fit can WIN.Not not been tracked since mid december.


Smooth Glider - has come up a lot after shifting stables. If the Trainer's money is on horse fair chance to UPSET. 


Shuderring - lost a certain race due to jockey's lack of intent . Hopefully the apprentice jockey will ride it to the best of his ability.


Lad Fury - Last run was dubious but on expected lines for obvious reasons. With P.S.C in the saddle , no idea of what to expect here.

Adonis is short of class and Moves Good Enough  may not be able to meet up to the standards here , one of them may at best place.


3.Violent Storm faces a inferior field compared to last outing when ridden by 4 kg claimer. Now with additional penalty the Trainer has opted for a forceful rider , to offset the top handicap.One can only hope and pray that Jockey rides well.


Mid Town Delight - no tracks , long layoff ??


Astonishing - mediocre saddle support. Last run was quite poor.


Final Countdown - ridden by a rookie. If he shows some sparkle can be in contention.


Lucky Sam - speedy , may be able to place if taken to the front. But if the jockey decides to ride off the pace , chances are slim.


Stud Muffin - tracks will suit this horse. Is intent to do well visible is the ???. How this trainer got his license is a mystery , going by his impressive record over past 3 years. Gets all reject horses  and most of then are seen  finishing in bottom 3.



4. Tanzanite and Lads Gladiator are demotees , on a down ward rating mission. May be tried during the next racing season.

Soberano - long time since it has WON , may have to relocate shortly to Mysore due to age restrictions. A perfect send off gift is possible if the rider shows some inclination.

Florida - failed repeatedly in Summer when track conditions were similar. Won very well this season when the surface was to its liking. I would ignore its chances here as tracks are not stiff.

Star Presence - rank outsider has the handicap in favour.

The Spartan - last run was decent. Yet will find it difficult to beat youngsters. Can place.


Marie Curie - PSC again ?? last run Suraj was in saddle and the horse was asked to do too much to do in the last 200 metres. Is the horse in this class , that needs to be factored .


5.Hill Rising - if the horse is able to get over the track conditions , then its a Winner.


Mi Amor - has done well only when ridden in check and that too when Gallagher was in the saddle. I cant see PSC riding in the same manner.Owners will be happy with the WIN achieved recently. If it comes for place, punters should be happy.


Southern King - last run was quite decent. The extended distance will suit. Can be the upset for the day.

Brownie - has not done the distance earlier , recent tracks are okay ,positive equipment change ,  family support seen in the form of jockey .

Bernica - positive switch in jockey , not sure if the horse has credentials to WIN.


Wonder Lash - finishing on well in last outing. Additional distance will work in its favour.Rider is not known as of now. 


6.Rare and Precious - the genuine class I horse in the fray. Choice of rider does not convey positive intent.


Sun Stone - with Show Time in the fray , its anybody's guess on the instructions to the jockey.


What a Friend - Has impressive credentials. Last few runs were with an eye on the handicap reduction. 6 year old meeting quality 3 year old's. With only 2 payouts , difficult choice to make.


Secret Punch - lost its way in class I . Facing relatively modest company.Cant be ignored.Capable of Winning.


Silken Touch - distance is sharp for comfort coming after the mile trip in Malakpet. 


Show Time - rider will carry over weight. Is that justified. Has beaten Capote twice , does that qualify for a class I WIN and odds of 60/100 or less ??


7.Lad Star - Trainer is known to  handle horses exclusively for his family members. The transfer of this horse after the impressive WIN raises a lot of questions on intent of Owner.


I Specialist - has seen CLASS unlike the others. Hope the lad rides Well for a change.


Its my Party - handicap is attractive , jockey yet to show performance on tracks.


Gun Salute - Won when ridden by the family retainer. When he is seen on Lady Gaga , will the instructions to the jockey be positive or negative.


Cinnamon Rush - the most pathetic ride was seen when it finished way behind Sovetskaya.Surely capable of a better show but not with this jockey.


Grand Success - Jockey has nothing to lose , has to hit the front and wait for the rest to beat him. Simple .


Lady Gaga -  Last run was dubious as jockey kept it  way behind and made his move after the Winner was sighted. Winner was stablemate.Trainer seems to relish giving multiple entries these days. On merit , i cant see this horse WINNING against experienced class III horses.


8. Simple Phenomenal - if punters are keeping track of the jockeys Wins during the day , it will be helpful. Too many earlier means this will be a SKIP.

Black Beauty - speedy , A Winner in last outing , cant be ignored , though Harish has never WON a race when the fancied runner is from the stables of S.Narredu.



Kripa - Seems to have changed stables , repeated shuffling does not augur well.

Super Gold - got interfered at a vital stage of the race in previous outing. May strike here. Jockey merit to be factored as that is not known as of now. 


Thrill Seeker - a small chance for place.


Sparkling Image - Jockey M Suresh will be seen at bangalore tracks after ages. A fairly decent rider , not sure if will remember the twists and turns in the tracks. On merit a very good chance .

selections - bangalore races

Light rains this morning @ bangalore -  the effect of Cyclone Thane -  Should not have a bearing on the races , unless it gains momemtum later on in the morning.

Tracks may not be very condusive for racing . Better to avoid favorites for obvious reasons. Apprentice jockeys may also find it difficult to sustain when pitted against experienced jockeys.

Comments and Choices for Friday.

1.Royal Music , Super Saloni , Sun Rich.

Vb race meant for horses in the lowest class. Last run of R.Music can be ignored as odds drifted dramatically and bookies representative P.S.Chouhan did the rest. Did not even place , that by itself was a indication of how good his ride was. Worth taking a chance here.


Super Saloni - last week , the trainer had a lucrative double. Not sure if this horse will be tried. Well bred , can place if intent is visible at race time.

Supreme Regent - at top handicap , considering the fact that the horse will be running first time this season , not worth a WIN bet.


Sabala can at best place.


2. With Southern Opinion conceding weight to the rest of the field , Abarth , Applejack, Pendolino Jersey Girl are all capable of doing well. 

Apple Jack and Abarth are looking good for place at least.

3.Southern Pearl , Viva Diva , Table Mountain.

Indian Pride may be fancied , on the basis of its run in race 48. But inconsistency is the hallmark of the horses from this stable . If it Wins good for the owner and trainer.


Rest are here / there types. Jockey merit is yet to be established on many horses. All are chance bets only.

4.Abracadabra , Blue Star , Claara , Magnetic Power.

Golden Viper was fancied for WIN in race 96 won by Pronto Star , but performance was pathetic. Next run managed to finish 3 rd to Aegis in race 147 despite running erratically.
One run in mysore not sighted , though the field was far far superior. Tracks are impressive , odds may be below 2 to 1, not even worth considering.


Blue Star - last run was quite decent. with better saddle support , place looks moral.


Abracadabra - odds drifted in last outing , on expected lines horse was not in serious contention. Should place , jockey merit will decide its progress.


Claara - A Winner in lower set , handicap is attractive , should place.

5. Back among Friends , Another Voice , Spring Beauty.

BAF - Apprentice jockey R,Vaitheeswaran was suspended after the horse lost in mysore. Now carrying top weight , but meeting an inferior field. Can WIN .


Another Voice - after being brought down in the scales for 2 years and failing many a time the horse obliged in race 58. The penalty for the WIN is 19 points , reflects how how dubious the earlier runs were.Should place.

6.Bourne Supreme , Lad King , Make my Day.

Bourne Supreme is sparingly raced. Found Toroloco too hot to handle in last outing. Is attempting a WIN in class II which may seem difficult , due to the presence of experienced contenders , a fair chance , WIN cant be ruled out as jockey merit is visible.


Lad King - Stable changed after the impressive WIN in race 43. Owner decided to shift as Trainer was not very keen on following instructions , not to deliver. Shifted to a trainer whose horses lose out in the betting for whatever reasons. On merit a good chance.

Make my Day - place is moral.


Pre Ordained - super flop show in hyderabad. Difficult to consider now as its meeting quality field. Has beaten Current Bay a class IV horse , thats all.

7. No Doubt , Arabian Gold , Castro.

Tiberius is a repair case. Last 2 runs were very very poor. Best left alone till it resumes its Winning ways.Tracks are impressive , odds are NOT.


Arabian Gold - has a bad rider , unable to WIN even in centre like Hyd.Should place.


No Doubt - a mediocre and suspicious ride by bookies favorite L.Stephane cost the BIG time punters dearly. With better saddle support and attractive handicap , place looks certain. Can upset.


Mountain of Joy - one paced horse , last 2 runs absolutely poor. May not even finish in top 4.


Castro - a chance bet due to the handicap and presence of Trevor.

8. Saratoga Spring , Flying Snow , Right on Time.

Going by the previous runs of SS , the WIN formality is to be completed.


Flying Snow , last run was pretty bad. Well bred , should place .


Beau Sancy has participated with inferior horses. Hence difficult to consider for place in this race.


Right on time and Invincible shot will be in contention for place.

Mumbai - Thursday races

My choices and comments are -

1.  ( Fairy Queen , Its my Way ) Quick Returns.

Ashwa Appolo on the basis of its good 4 th to Spook has fair credentials. Needs 1200 or 1400 to deliver. Best on bloodlines. Only issue is the jockey and top handicap. May place.


Fairy Queen has seen better class but off springs of Quest Star are seen doing well over 1400/1600 at Hyderabad. Last run was not unduly extended as Winner was spotted prior to the race. With the allowance jockey declared to ride , may shine.


Its My Way -  was 9 lenghts behind the far superior Coccinella. Rider was not keen on doing well as field was superior. With the reduced distance can make it short to finish.


Quick Returns - speedy , rest depends on Intent as most horses from this stable are on Half feed during Mumbai season.

2. Youngsters , many horses are tracking well.

Al Attaturk - is out of the speedy Hoofbeats . Lots of impressive tracks noticed. Riderboy Neeraj Rawal is in the saddle. Those who think highly of his capabilities can take a chance. Rest can skip.


Catharsis - well bred , decent tracks , place looks MORAL.


Deja Vu - bred as the speedy Sol Maz ( mysore )  Choice of rider is negative.


Tachyon - 1 st run in mumbai was fairly reasonable. No recent work noticed. Hence can be ignored.


Victorian Vice - with a rider boy in the saddle finished a close 5 th to Portia. With Dasrath Singh astride and some good works noticed , it looks like the Horse will be in contention for the top spot.


Bizarro - last effort was noteworthy . Will be in the odds. Rest depends on intent.

3. ( Oceanic Wisdom , Dancing Glances ) 

DG has beaten OW twice , the weights are in favour of the latter now. Yet going by the Botswana line Dancing Glances has the capability to WIN again.


Oceanic Wisdom - was a rousing performer in the previous season. Pune runs were not genuine. Can make it purely on jockey talent.


Amadues - Dovers Hill was very speedy and distance seemed short in its earlier run. Not sure if it has the capability to beat quality sprinters.

4.Expelliarmus , Brenten Woods , Royal Crest.

Close call between the first 2 named horses.  I go with the former for non racing reasons.

5. Bold Dancer , BeSpoke , Guns n Roses , Emerald Valley.

Bespoke , skipped the pune season. Picked up 3 races over 1000 metres in the previous mumbai season in class IV and III. Has carried weight and WON in impressive timings. Yet the long break and  the lack of performance over 1200 makes it a risky bet.


Guns N Roses - speedy , a fair chance due to the handicap and the rider declared to ride.


Emerald Valley is the pick of the 3 from the stable. 


Bold Dancer - unexpected Winner in the previous outing. With the jockey showing some good form these days , capable of repeating again.


Angels Pursuit - has not WON over 1200. Timings over 1000 are impressive no doubt but ability to strike over this distance is a ??

6. Youngsters

Amazing Desire  , Liberty Star , Hot Pepper , Liberty Star , Nigella and Snow Princess seem to be better than the rest. Cant spot the best among these. 

Liberty Star is sibling to Bespoke and with the benefit of a race run can place at longer odds. Hot Pepper , was ridden by T.S.Jodha the worst ever jockey in mumbai on debut. Has a better rider here. Can place.


Amazing Desire is well bred , had a lung opener , WIN is not a formality .

7.Light my Way , Blue Mellon ,Grant Park.


Svelte Lady - was impressive while Winning race 53. With the penalty and additional distance may find it difficult.


Light my Way - skipped the previous mumbai season. Participated in Pune , did not show much sparkle. Has shifted stables. Last run was quite positive. Should place. Can upset.


Flying Star - very inconsistent . Was unlucky losing to S.Lady , not sure if there would be intent to WIN here.


Grant Park - no recent tracks. Had a impressive record at pune. May place.


Blue Mellon - distance suits , weather permitting can shine as it is a blood vessel case.

mysuru - wednesday

Due to time constraints , unable to analyse the full card. 

1.Vb race , no choices. Failed favorite has TOP Jockey , rest have mediocre jockeys. Not worth considering options.


2.Stardom Bound -  has run benefit , with the weights in favour , should place. 


3.Vb race , Heart of Reality - failed when fancied , should logically place. 


4.Star of Hearts - each way - chance bet.


5.Too many horses in contention. Not sure who will be on JOB , interconnected horses , enquiry case ... Flaming Arrow , Lotus Pond , Miss Ruby , Daring Dynamite , Solmaz. Difficult to choose without having clue of race time odds. Hopefully the top 3 spots should come from these 5 horses only.


6.Rock All - should place.


7.Speedy Amigo -  should place.


8.Breezo should place.. Race time odds will give enough indications on the Winner

Plaka , Boston Ranger and Breezo will be fight for honors. 
Plaka has failed maximum number of times. Distance suits. 
Boston Ranger - attractive handicap , has seen better days. 
Breezo - had beaten Plaka some time back.

tuesday Delhi

Stalwarts , K.P.G.Appu , Sunny Chinoy , R.K.Mahesh , C.S. Jodha , J.Pradeep will all be seen trying to dazzle the punters at delhi on Tuesday.  It is quite expensive to engage these jockeys , particularly those who come for a single day .I am sure the  bookmakers are regularly contributing to the expenses incurred in bringing them to the club , they are good hosts. 

Get the outstation jockeys , put a good price on the horse for WIN , offer the Punters very tempting odds for place . End of race collect the proceeds and host a party for the jockeys. 

Some of them will no doubt shine in the first few races , only then can the punters be drawn into betting  BIG in the races ahead : )

1. Highly Reputed and qualified top Trainers in action. Not many options on the face of it. First time jockeys may find it difficult to adjust to the tracks .


Ashwa Paddma - good chance for place atleast.


2. One of Trainer Zulfikar's Horse may place.


Neko or Mystic Miracle.


3.Ashwa Jugnoo seems to have run in superior company. But this jockey is not reliable . If it starts as favorite , there is every possibility of it losing. If not it may oblige. Keep your fingers crossed.


Rios Girl - Master Messi -  place  hopefuls.


4.Ho Chi has no business to lose going by its previous run.  Rest depends on race time odds and Trainer games.


5.Dev Putra , Grey Dancer and Dont You Dare are the prime contenders.  Of these 2 are trained by Magain Singh.  Grey Dancer is the better horse , issue is the jockey who has not ridden many winners since debut. Yet worth taking a chance due to class factor. Dev Putra runs over optimum trip for the first time this season and that will ensure a place spot. Has the potential to WIN.


6. Kerry Blue and Classic N Mystic are looking the best on merit.


7. Game of Talent and Assertive have the jockeys who are fit for these courses. One of them could WIN.

Short summary is posted due to time constraints. 

At times its difficult to estimate the likely odds when going through the race card . Hence the selections are not in any order as such. 

I would be happy if 2 of the shortlisted horses finish in the top 3. Bets can be based on race time odds , ONMONEY favorites shortlisted can be be ignored.

Sunday races

decent card , but for races 2, 3 and 4 which may not be very ideal for punting considering limited contenders.With the festive spirit pervading all round its time for the local jockeys to WIN a few races .

1.Star Blessings , Banana Boy , Marudhara Ratan.

Greatness ran in superior company on thursday over 1000 metres. I guess there was no intent to WIN on that day as entry is seen in lower class in a short span. Over 1200 and carrying 60.5 kgs , not an ideal bet.

Star Blessings - a close 3 rd to Etesian at pune  , may relish the mumbai tracks. Can WIN despite being a maiden facing experienced horses.
M.Ratan  - has a impressive record . Cant be ignored atleast for minor placing.

Banana Boy - finished 8th to Flying Kiss , 7 lenghts behind the Winner ,  big field affected its chances.Place looks certain.

2.Bling / Marauder.

Marauder has seen class , Bling yet to do so. Both are well placed on handicap. Both have done the distance and bred to stay. Close call , if there is no third contender may as well as play Both if the odds will yield positive return or sit out.

3. Nefyn skipped the entire Pune season. Is a class superior as many horses seen here were in class III last mumbai season. Yet considering the top handicap , ODDS and poor rider , its difficult to consider here.

Dovers Hill - very very speedy , WON a race last week.Not sure if it will be fit enough to run again.
Bullet - has always been a Winner when the handicaps were attractive. 

Saints N Sinners - recent tracks are decent. Jockey is reliable , rides well .
Ocean Wish - no tracks / swimming for past 2 months . Chance bet.

Chance token bets on Saints and Sinners / Ocean Wish , as odds on Nefyn would be very  low.

4. Ciel Indienne , Onassis.

Camacho must be tired after the run over 2400 metres recently. 

Ciel Indienne - a fair chance considering that it ran close to Onassis in race 35 and the handicap is attractive.

Native Knight - here / there types. Can do well , may finish last also.
Air Play - is coming after a hatrick of WINs in Mysore , beat some mediocre horses in class III and II. Not sure if it is a class I type. Earlier season was struggling in class III in bangalore. 

With 4 of the 5 horses interlinked , anybody's guess on how they will fare.

5.Vibgyor , Hockenheim , Octopaul, Star Seeker.
Our Chieftan's last WIN no doubt was impressive. Conceding weight to other 3 year olds  as well as carrying the top weights is not easy.
Vibgyor -  has participated with better horses , vastly experienced. Should place , can WIN.
Flying Kiss - repeat of race 34 seems unlikely as contenders here are superior.
Star Seeker - pune runs were bad , horse needs more ground to deliver and the mumbai tracks will enable this late finishing horse to perform well.
Hockenheim - can be considered for the jockey declared to ride.
Secret Service - trainer is yet to show progress this season. Most of the horses dont even place when fancied for WIN. A nightmare for the punters. Has strong credentials. If above 7 to 1 , each way can be considered.

6. Sorrento , O 'Princess , Unknown Rebel.

Ishpingo has failed twice , last effort was very good but was getting weight from the others. With level weighs and uncertainty on whether it will take a level start and also considering the odds factor , can be ignored

Sorrento - failed favorite at bangalore. Tracks are impressive.Rider is for the ODDS ??
Unknown Jewel - speedy , has a fair chance to place.
O' Princess -   good tracks noticed , if not Ishpingo then Owners doosra will be in contention.

7. Youngsters , Winds of Fortune , Angels Quest , Sky High.

Last run of WOFis to be ignored as rider was mediocre. Can make amends here.
Sharaarat- a run away Winner at pune. Not sure if it can sustain the mumbai straights.

Angels Quest - impressive Winner in race 58.  Should place.
Sky High - tracks give the impression that the horse can WIN on debut . With so many entries from Shapoor Mistry Family on Sunday and considering the 2000 Guineas last week ,WIN bet can be skipped.

8. Dare Devil , Jacqueline Smile , Mountain Flora.

Augustus and Atlantic Star are failed favorites and from same stable. Not sure who will be given the nod.

Dare Devil - last run seemed sharp , Winner was also far superior. Should place can WIN.

Saturday - bangalore races

My choices and comments for the day are -

1. Gorgeous Gold , Rajas Pet , Maverical.

VB race , Except Maverical and Silver Spectre , the rest of the horses have been finishing on an average 20 lenghts behind the Winner . So it is easy to judge the classic potential of these horses.

Silver Spectre is a Winner in the lower class , with 3 entries from the trainer , there is the possibility that the other 2 horses may suddenly develop a pair of wings and place at longer odds. I am hoping that the NOD this time is for G.Gold which is bred well.

Maverical has good credentials due to its past performances as well as the presence of a good jockey. Bloodlines are poor and a WIN bet cant be justified due to the top handicap and low odds. If above 5 to 1 at race time , one could have  considered a each way bet , @ 1.50 there's no point trying to risk a WIN BET.

Raja's Pet - should have been named Warren's Pet as it seems to perform as and when he puts in his money. Other occasions it finishes 20 lenghts behind Winner.

G.Gold - small bet as Winner sighting is difficult ,the odds would be lucrative even for place. 

2. ( Midnight Legacy or Maths Baby ) Smart Star.

Maths Baby was the best of the beaten brigade in its previous run. Rider is poor , is capable of losing even on the best of horses. May start as odds on favourite .

Midnight Legacy - had a lung opener recently , capable of putting up an improved display. Decent bloodlines. Jockey is yet to Deliver at Blr / Mum / Hyd since making his reappearance.

Smart Star is tracking well , considering only 2 payouts in this race , a difficult decision to make.

3.Saphira , Brabus Speed ,Scenic Blast.

B.Speed , last run , odds opened at 3 closed at 12 , in the end place odds itself was 3 to 1. Horse was finishing 15 lenghts behind Winner in all its runs since debut , before putting in a sterling performance thrashing the opponents.Won at 60/100 odds. May regain lost form if HIS money is on the horse. For the record , Take My Word is the doosra.

Saphira - speedy can make it a start to finish affair.

Scenic Blast - started as race time favourite in Summer in the race WON by Secret Punch. Seeing the progress of the latter one may be inclined to go for this horse. A bookies PET, fate of this horse would depend on race time odds.

Bounty Hunter - is it a bet for the Owner ?? who will be celebrating Christmas.

4. Angle Queen ,For An Angel , Hatchet Harry.

Vb race , preference is given to a Horse which has WON a race , however poor the field was.Hot Stuff was pretty cold to the punters who backed it for place in previous outing.Difficult to see it coming good here.

For an Angel looks certain for place.

5. ( Hill Stone or Living Legend ) Sparkling Star.

Ace Blood just about managed to beat Stadium of Light a Hyd based horse. Subsequent runs dismal. Hence Ignored.

Hill Stone - has the best credentials based on relative performance. Rest is left to the Jockey and Trainer. 

Sparking Star - failed favourite , odds drifted from 1.5 to 3 and the Jockey did everything possible to ensure that the horse followed the betting trend. With the weights in favour here , may surprise.

Thoughts n Actions - beat nothing of note on opening day , last run was forward , may place.

Living Legend - can deliver if in the ODDS.

6. Spark of Diablo , Super Sunrise , Anna.

Jaldi over 1400 is a risky bet despite the relatively inferior field.

Anna has a pathetic rider ,one can only pray for it to do well after placing the bet. Odds would be good.

Super Sunrise - weights may prove to be a stopper , bookies delight jockey in the saddle.

Smart n Exotic - Trainer managed to Win several races in Summer. Same horses turning out to be duds this season. Cant consider a bet just because Suraj is riding.Was rated 52 , after its last run in Summer.

Spark of Diablo - was seen in VB races in Summer , rated 8. After Winning a few races in Mysore has rapidly come to class III. Not sure if it has the class to deliver. A chance each way bet for the odds.

7.( Sun Absolute or Red Renegade ) Crown Empress , Six Gun Smith.

Sun Absolute was given a horrendous ride by B.Paswan when losing to Crown Empress.Tracks are decent , can WIN if the Owners colours are prominent earlier on in the day. Most of RKW owned horses lose out in the betting and hence the precaution.

Red Renegade - if the last ride is ignored due to presence of class Vb jockey , a fair chance considering the relative handicap. Trainer has 4 entries in this race , 3 are Owned by Mallya. So there is always the doubt on intent .

Crown Empress - can only hope to place. Last outing weights and jockey merit played a role.

8. Free Law , Sovetskaya , Chul Bul Pandey.

Last run of Sovetskaya was brilliant.Came with giant strides and outclassed the field. Penalty is steep.Should place.

Free Law - impressive tracks , has participated with better horses since debut. Should Win.

9. Emerald , Showers of Luck , Sun Gold.

Emerald has participated in classics and was also seen doing well in class III. A demote here, is facing poor opposition. Can WIN even at these weights.

Good bets - Free Law , Emerald , Hill Stone.

Chance bets - Mid Night Legacy , Saphira , Angel Queen , Spark of Diablo.

Mumbai - thursday races

8 races framed - 
4 are meant for horses in the lowest class - VB ,  
3 races for horses in class IV 
and 
One genuine class III race.


Horses in class IV and Vb are more often used for landing lucrative gambles by hiding form or by ensuring that horses dont perform when the punters expect them to . Surprisingly most of these horses remain in this class till they are retired. 

1.Starlight Magic , Evangalist, Sweaty Betty  or Inner Harmony.

SM is an enquiry case , last outing was backed at race time but jockey was content with just sitting on the horse for which he is suspended for a long time , race was Won by the DOOSRA. Will start as on money favorite , has the services of the top jockey. Owner's horses have not been performing for a long time. Can WIN if the intent is there , avoidable if low odds.

Evangilist - rider is poor , is usually seen trying the usual , start to finish , if lucky can hold on to place.
 
Two horses from Stables of Lagad - as of now no indications on his preferences.

2. Tara , Thunderstrike.

Big leap in relative jockey merit from R Shelar to R Hughes.Problem is with mediocre trainer . Not sure if it will be on job , expecting R Hughes to WIN - 5 out of 5.
is also not practical. 


Frost Fairy - too many runs this season. Fortune Hunter - weights and distance do not offer much hope.


Only outright stayer in the race is Tara. At times takes a slow start , quantum change in jockey merit. Can WIN.

3.Tomorrow's Dreams , Star Goddess , Guernica.

Most superior horse is Sterling Silver. One look at its previous run and you can understand how low trainers can get.Horse  is not sighted or heard in commentary as the trainer had multiple entries and this was condemned to lose taking punters for a ride. Happened right through the pune season , trend continues in the current mumbai season., Here also 2 entries to confuse the punters.


Star Goddess lost in the previous mumbai season when most punters thought that WIN was a formality with Hughes in the saddle. Lost to rank outsider M.Rathan.Longish break since then , not sure why. Not worth considering a WIN bet due to the odds and fitness factor.


T.Dreams - a fair chance. Should place.

4.Cougar , Celebrations , Money for Nothing.

Clinton is making debut at 5. Surely something amiss.With just 1 entry for the day for Shroff , that too in a class VB race , all pointers are negative.


Cougar - bred to stay , has a fair chance as current form of most contenders is poor.


Celebrations - should place purely for the jockey declared to ride.


Free for All -  one has to look into the videos of the last 2 runs and come to conclusion.A unknown jockey rides remarkably well and horse finishes 3 rd. next outing when fancied by punters with a good jockey , horse struggles to move. All that was required to stop the horse is a bucket of water. Trainer Ivor Fernandes has ready made excuses when ever his horses lose. With Christmas  ahead , will he try to encash in advance or try to celebrate the WIN is the moot point.

5. ( Peregrine Falcon , Lord of Killarney ) Celtic Manor.

This race may be for the apprentice jockeys. All three horses are bred for speed and rider competence will decide the fate.The first 2 are known front runners , one of them should WIN.

6. ( River Dragon , Towering High ) Always Smile.

River Dragon was 9 lenghts behind the Winner in previous outing. Though ridden by a mediocre jockey was prominent till the last furlong. With better saddle support , the firm contender to WIN. Rest depends on intent.


Towering High - is also known for its blinding initial speed , though short of class. 


Always Smile - handicap stiff , has seen better days.

7. ( Greatness , Super Hero ) Persian Lily.

Palazzo Grazioli is from the stables of a medicore trainer S.Habbu. Has Won twice at Pune. Not been able to  do well in mumbai. Over this distance does not impress for WIN. Jockey has no choice has to accept the ride , cant sit idle for 6 days . Gets some good mounts on Sponsored day - Sunday.Thursdays may be reserved for the bookies. Why not on Clinton ??


Greatness - last run was very impressive , timings clocked was decent. Considering the relative handicap a fair chance to score.


Super Hero - has loads of initial speed. Even after the penalty for the WIN is capable of striking purely on saddle support. Problem is too many mounts for Hughes , punters cant decide which to OMIT and Which to BET.


Blue Sky - trainer had a GOOD double on sunday.Horse was very impressive ,came after a,long break and WON Impressively. On promotion here , jockey is mediocre. Can skip.

8.Pound Foolish , Rose Bowl , Solar Angel.

Rose Bowl despite losing ground at the start finished a good 4 th to Svelte Lady. Confidence to bet is low due to the dubious credentials of the trainer.Can WIN only if race time indications are positive.


Pound Foolish - a Winner this season , though in the lower class. Jockey merit is visible. Will place for sure.


Solar Angel and Catalyst are contenders for place.




GOOD DAY

Mayscore - wednesday

Last week mysore racing was conducted BY or FOR  the bookies as long priced Winners were prominent.  This week may not be as bad as fancied horses may oblige in most races.


1. Passage of Time and  Pearl of Bangalore both have credentials to WIN. The latter is ridden by a jockey who is yet to WIN a race , handicap very attractive , last run was forward.

Galaxy and Give Me the Money are the contenders for Place.


2. Huckelberry Finn and Prezzie will be in contention for the TOP spot. The latter failing to deliver in the previous week when fancied at race time., mediocre rider blew up its chances. With a bit of weight reduction and positive equipment change this Bookies favorite can WIN.


H F - last run was quite impressive. The 3 year old is ridden by a able jockey. 


Show Horse and Burning Ambitions will have to fight for place spot.


3. Freedom Fighter has come down a lot on the ratings. Will have to beat Ceasaria which has better saddle support compared to last outing.


the speedy Byzantine and Surya Putra will try runaway tactics , jockey merit will decide their fate.


4. Mr Magic and Game Face - both have performed well in the previous outing. Rest depends on the intent at race time.


Archer , Kapathos and Sun Device will have to be content with minor placings. Can hope to WIN if the above 2 horses are withdrawn or jockeys changed at race time.


5. Best Move if ridden well can beat the fancied Dream of Gold which has just about manged a single race since debut. 

Fire Vault and Mystic Enchantress can hope to place.

6.  Bold Police at some point of time in the recent past had a Rating higher than Pronto Pronto which had WON the Bangalore Derby. Owned by one of the leading Trainers of Mysore who is now under suspension for trying to influence the course of the races by doping horses .

With Ohiyesa , Ashkan , Blink and Forbes List not in serious contention for obvious reasons , it has to beat Hurricane Bay and  Rising Rainbow. Hurricane Bay was a genuine class I horse at Malakpet, shifted to Mysore. Picked up 2 races when least expected. The 2 nd  WIN was in the previous week over 1200 metres. If not tired can put up a decent show. Rising Rainbow has beaten Bold Police earlier , last few runs were poor. Considering the fact that Bold Police would be fancied by one and all , its better to look at the other 2 options , be it for WIN or place.


7. Time for All , Own Way , Absolute Reality - are all capable of doing well.

Iron Marshall last WON a race beating Cationic , which is not in the same league as the horses mentioned above.


8. - Flirting King , Snow Peaks and Rich Rogue - Its difficult to look beyond these 3 for WIN. Two of them should place definitely.


The World is Mine has a fair chance for place.

short notes for Kolkata

1. Oscar ran on saturday , back in the tracks after barely 3 days. Not going to be easy.
Too many broken down horses in the fray. Difficult to go for any one confidently.

2.Harness Free does have credentials to place. Not sure what the odds will be and whether its worth considering a WIN bet.

First timer @ Kolkata - Akshay on Let her Dance - cant be backed with confidence.

3.Its Alexander or Perseverance .  The former may have the edge , but not worth considering a WIN bet if it ends as race time favorite.

4. Asian Rocket over this distance is not worth a WIN bet.

Strauss / Alacrity have better credentials .

5. Secret Don should be able to place.

6. This is the 2 nd run for Danube Valley in a span of 10 days with penalty for WIN. Avoidable.

Aamar Kaku and River Pride have a reasonable chance to upset.

7.Ocean Fairy runs over pet distance.  Can deliver here  though jockey is yet to experience the kolkata tracks.

8. Golden Square for place may be a better option than Secret Gloss WIN as the latter has not been able to WIN a single race till date.

9.Sartaj does have the weights in favour, time to set the record straight , fair chance to WIN.
Fairy Girl has been a model of consistency and should place.

Malakpet - Monday races

Sunday performance was as follows -

A.Imran Khan 5 . P.S .Chouhan 2  , Asshad Asbar and Anil 1 each

Netto , S.Abbas , Deshmukh - 2 each , Prasad , Satheesh and Laxman - 1 each.

With just 6 races framed for Monday ,3 Trainers can be excluded  while opting for WIN bets except in the feature event.

Jockey A.Imran Khan can be ignored for obvious reasons , P.S.Chouhan cant. These Two manage to WIN bulk of the races at this centre , not because they are the best , but because the rest are poor. Even when races are WON by others , it may so happen that these 2 dont participate or dont ride to WIN. Such is racing at Malakpet. These same champion jockeys struggle against ordinary competition at top notch centres like Bangalore and  Mumbai or 3 rd class centres like Delhi and Mysore.

 Trainer Anupam Sharma had a few winners last week and i expect him to resume operations tomorrow along with S.S.F.Hassan.

2.Max Baby , Art Connossiuer, Tico Tico.

Mumbai - 2000 Guineas

 Long card , fancied runners may WIN most of the races.

1st RACE.  
Flash Forward , Alaska , Rio Del Ray / Purple Moon.

FF was a failed favorite recently. Should WIN barring unforeseen circumstances as it is meeting relatively poor field. Owner's Doosra Purple Moon is also in the fray , though ridden by Shammi Khan who has not WON a race for ages.

Alaska has been worked extensively giving the impression that Horse would be tried.

Rio Del ray can hope to place.

2nd RACE.
( Asahi , Wings of Glory ) Lavender Brown

Race for 2 year olds. Based on trackworks , i expect the Winner to be confined to the first 2 named horses.

Divine Inspiration does not impress , jockey has failed to deliver. Lavender Brown is well bred , rider is poor.

3rd RACE.
Awesome Smile , Arabian Fighter , Festival Knight.

Satyamev Jayete , is conceding weight all round and it would require a good rider to WIN.

Awesome Smile , has been held back for a long time after its initial runs against superior horses. Can WIN if the intent is visible. Most of Antia's horses have been losing at the betting stage itself.Apocalypse is ridden by F.Irani who tasted success on Bold Dancer after many many years. Cant be expected to repeat within such a short span of time.

Festival Knight - did well in last outing, rider is poor.

Arabian Fighter - well in at the weights , has always done well when least expected.

4th RACE.
Miracle of Mercy , Herzeliyah , Wild Imagination.

Be Cool is a difficult horse to handle and over this distance , may falter.

Miracle of Mercy is a known front runner and can make it start to finish.

Herzliyah - last run was not genuine , is capable of a better performance.

5th RACE.
Ice Pick , Patcha , Spin A Win.

One more race framed for the youngsters. Based on jockey merit and bloodlines Ice Pick is the automatic pick.

Spin a Win , is bred for speed. Can hope to place at longer odds.

Alecto is purely ignored due to mediocre jockey. Stormy Princess may place at best.

6th RACE.
Sound of River , King Julien , Cypress Point .

Last run of Sound of River has to be ignored completely as the jockey was absolutely poor. Recent tracks are decent and handicap attractive. Can WIN.

King Julien - a run away winner in its first run beating Rancho.Next run was conceding a lot of weight , drifted out in the straight. Too many contenders in the fray also led to its downfall. Can place easily here.

Cypress Point - WON well , in the lower class. Can place again. Sergeant Pepper is coming to tracks after a long break , first run after being gelded , top handicap. Won on debut , difficult to take a call when it runs here as a favorite. Smart Hunter barely managed to WIN recently. The penalty is stiff and the competing horses  have better credentials than last time.
  
Neath - the worst performer since debut, distance seems beyond its capability.

7th RACE.
Dovers Hill , Check Her Out , Amadeus.

Amadeus failed twice in bangalore . Had a set back. Not sure if its back to its earlier form. Meeting quality sprinters here , may not be easy to WIN. Odds may not be suitable for a bet.

Dovers Hill - well in at the weights , could not do much in previous outing as WINNER was far too speedy.

Oriental Charm - trainer used aged jockey SN Chavan to try to WIN against the likes of Orito. Jockey was absolutely pathetic. A maiden expecting it to beat seasoned horses in the fray is a bit too much , jockey merit will decide its fate.

The speediest in the field is Check her out , can surprise one and all. Batista ,was a decent performer when trained by Shroff was shifted to Lagad  , now appears in the name of  MKJadhav. May need 1200 .

8th RACE.
Star Alliance , Camacho.

Limited options , latter will start as favorite. Former can upset being the DOOSRA.

Dear Henry is outhandicapped and Rajasthan Royals is suspect over this distance at Mumbai tracks.

9th RACE.
Wide open , from the ODDS point of view.There are 4 contenders going by form.

Cardinal and Picasso are trained by Shroff , who managed the 1-2 in the 1000 Guineas.Both are well bred and are suited for the mile trip.Picasso has better saddle support compared to its run in the pune derby.Cardinal has WON 3 starts and its only loss was over a trip which was beyond its capability.

Speed Six - was very impressive while beating Hill Dioro at bangalore. First run in Mumbai , will it be able to withstand the mumbai straight is the ???

Pronto Pronto - has always managed to defy the expectations. As it is coming after a long break , i would discount its chances for WIN.

Astapi - has deceived after its impressive performances in the initial stages of its career.

Knighton - the dark horse in the fray , has impressive bloodlines , may be short of experience.Sheriff has a good chance to finish in the bottom 3.

10th RACE.
 Coccinella , Conztanza , Golden Memory.
 
If its previous run is taken as the criteria , then COCCINELLA has nothing to beat.May   not be bettable due to odds.
Constanza and Golden Memory should be able to put in a good performance.

Class Vb race

Royal Music lost out due to poor saddle support last time. Can come good here. Jockey P.S.Chouhan did not WIN a single race on Friday . Can hopefully do well here as this horse will start as favorite , none of the others in the field carry any credibility.

Claara has changed stables and over this distance there is a ?? . Jockey is yet to WIN a single race this season. 

Sabala was given a bad ride by ace jockey YS SRINATH. Horse is bred to stay , ride boy APPU seen in saddle , yet cant be ignored as most of the horses / jockeys are in the same boat.

Power Grid - bad gate manners , if sorted out a live threat.

2.Meghalaya , Dominator , Royal Admiral.
 
Youngsters , i prefer above 3 .

Cocktail Circuit may garner support , recent spurts are impressive. I feel that it may need 1400 to WIN .

3. Fire Star , Turf Fame , Magic Wave , Super Saloni.

Magic Wave and Rosie's Dream will have support due to the presence of the concerned jockeys. Both non Winners , cant be trusted to deliver over 1400 at the handicaps alloted.

Turf Fame - jockey rides for the Gowda brothers , is yet to WIN a single race. May place at longer odds.

Fire Star - last run was dubious as the money was on the Winner and jockey played no part. Fair chance as it has seen the Winning Post earlier.

Super Saloni- long shot place prospect.

4.Argentum , Hill Rising , Bernica.

Argentum was a failed favorite n previous outing.Jockey L.Stephane was all at sea. Pathetic riding seen on saturday. Over extended distance and better jockey can come good.

Hill Rising - Owner's Winning Colors are not spotted these days. No one to take the decision. All the horses lose out in the betting and are not sighted for place also. 

Bernica - can hope to place if the first 2 falter.

Saganaki and Formidable do not impress.


5.Allianz , Sun Gold , Blue Origin.
 
Bad race. 

Blue Origin will start as favorite. Jockey back in Bangalore after a long break.

Horse has not delivered for past 3 seasons.At this handicap there is no certainty.

Others are here / there types .

6.Abnoba , Missoni , Equanamity.

Valahak has changed stables. Has reached class I in a short time. Would have been in class IV itself if it was lying with trainer Puttana. Fortunate that the new owner could realise the potential and shifted the horse on time to Prasanna Kumar. Now one more shift. May need time to get used to new trainer. Can skip here.

Still Will - owner horses have failed repeatedly over past month at bangalore.Better to wait for Winning ways to resume.

Atlantus - handicap stiff , yet 1 class superior as most of the others are class II horses.At best can place. 

Missoni- has a decent rider here , but difficult to bet on jockey if he has already won a couple of races earlier. Should place .  
 
Abnoba - blood vessel case , last WIN was impressive. Rider is poor , accepted. Chance each way bet for the ODDS .

Equanimity - Winner in class IV in summer season ,reached Class I with the help of some easy WINS against mediocre horses in Mysore. Can hope to place here.

7.Rappadon Glory , Shivalik Prince , Grand Success.
 
Sudden Magic - handicap stiff , rider too poor. Last run was positive , confidence to bet is low for non racing reasons.
 
Rappadon Glory - came up with a good run to finish a impressive 2 nd to Miss Ching despite the top handicap. With the handicap in favour , will run a good race.


Zultanaite was very very impressive on debut. Returning to tracks after 1 year , set back case. Was touted as classic Winner. Impressive tracks and top jockey in the saddle. If it Wins here it can reach class I in a short time. Iam Ignoring only because the absence is 1 
LONG YEAR and it may start as favorite.

Shivalik Prince - stable change , not done this 1400 trip earlier.

Grand Success - light weights due to the presence of allowance jockey who has ridden well since debut. Can be the upset for the day.

 

8.Foswell, The Spartan , Deep Blue Sky.

Too many inter connected horses in the fray.

Foswell is my first choice.

Deep Blue Sky - distance is sharp , horse is a class superior. Can place.

bangalore friday races

1. A VB race to start off the proceedings. Best avoided as form is not established .

Jeyem and Star League - both are running with positive change in equipment , that does not guarantee  victory.  Smart Edition just about managed to WIN @ mysore. Cant be expected to deliver here. Neel Gagan runs with negative change. Hence ruled out. 

Atomic  Queen , Segomo and Brigades Passion are the ones which are capable of creating a flutter .The first named had a lung opener recently. Jockey was suspended for not letting this horse run on merit a year ago at Mysore. Subsequent runs were not up to the mark for obvious reasons.

Segomo - rookie in the saddle. Not sure what to expect. Trainer treats stable as a musuem with the horses being the showpieces . Most of them are not tracked and raced once in a season , many a time ridden by jockeys who have not WON a race for ages.  Owners must have deep pockets to maintain the btf.

2. Super Gold , Endurance , Voice of India.

Hard to Pin Down - last 2 runs were dismal , a good miler being sent out a outing over sprint distance.No doubt superior if  past record is seen , but on current form , looks very very difficult.

Super Gold - managed to WIN a race in Mysore beating Scarlette and other fancied runners. Next outing was not sighted as the horse was fancied for WIN.  If it jumps out well a certainty for place as field is inferior. Rest depends on the jockey.


Endurance - can hope to place ahead of Enduring Speed .

Star of Desire is one paced and with the handicap in favour can hope to place. 

3.(  Sicily or Abbys Baby ) No Doubt ,  Taylor Made.

No Doubt was an impressive Winner recently after several attempts. With the penalty its not going to be easy , only reason for it to WIN is due to lack of form of the rest of the runners.Jockey has been suspended for his atrocious riding at mysore , performance in the recent past has been miserable. A WIN bet can be ignored for those reasons. Horse has sound credentials.


Aladdin - no recent tracks  , has been finishing distance behind in the last 3 outings. There seems to be some problem with the horse. Best avoided.


Taylor Made - recent tracks are decent , the 2 runs since debut were absolutely poor. Can hope to place.


Chance bet on any One of Trainer A.Caddy horses - Sicily is at the bottom of the scales , rider is poor. If ridden off the pace can upset.Abbys Baby -  has WON a race in Summer. Last run was a disgrace finishing 20 lenghts behind the Winner. The jockey was equally pathetic. Better saddle support visible here. 

4. Nectar Crown , The Senator , Scarlet Knight.

Shuddering does not appeal due to weights , though superior on ratings. Too many fancied horses ridden by Gallagher on friday. he cant be expected to have a 100 % record.


Sun Dancing is a repair case and a known miler. Has bad gate manners , over this distance , better to skip.


Ailsa - has the services of a good rider , when compared to the last 2 runs. Should easily place. Can upset. withdrawn


Nectar Crown - jockey yet to win a race. Horse has been very consistent. Should place.

The Senator - cant be ignored for minor places.



5. ( Nessie , Spark of Silver ) Youre Wonderful , Superb Style

Last run of Nessie can be ignored as it was coming after a long break and saddle support was lacking. Can WIN here.

Spark of Silver - was seen finishing on well in last outing. Has a fair chance here , hope the jockey rides well.

Superb Style - has not earned the corn bill after the change in stables.Gamble due any time. Can hope to place at longer odds.


Sky Train is coming after a set back , though superior , cant be backed with conviction.

6.( Bourne Supreme , Toroloco ) Race for the breeder Owner.

Toroloco is sparingly raced , hence a ???? on its fitness. Won impressively on debut despite the presence of Selvaraj. Did not beat anything of note , but manner of Winning was very good.

Bourne Supreme - has raced in better company. The retained rider for the Owner is seen doing duty unlike the past when a family member was used by the trainer.

Lady Gaga and Color of Money will have to fight for minor placings.


Capote does not deserve a place bet over this distance.

7.Mountain of Joy , At the Helm , Radical Attraction.

Nadia incurs a penalty of 20 points for its Win in class IV and is the highest rated horse with 65 points despite Winning 2 races in the lower class against mediocre opposition. At the Helm , a Winner in the same class gets away with addition of 11 points. The horse has participated in 4  classics in the past 6 months including 2 derby races where as Nadia managed to WIN a VB race in Mysore  , in  September 2011 when its rating was 25. During the same time , At the Helm was rated 43. Does the handicapper think that Nadia is a classic horse ?? Same class Winner is running with 57 kgs and a Lower class Winner carries 62.50 kgs. Penalty is very steep. Makes no sense at all. 

Mountain of Joy was least interested in the proceedings when finishing 3 rd to At the Helm. With the reversal of handicap and over extended distance a fair chance to WIN.

Radical Attraction - has surprised many , as it was not expected to do well due to its inferior bloodlines. A model of consistency. Should place.

8. Inquisition , Heckett , The Jaguar.

Simply Best , picked up a race recently purely due to the handicap as the allowance helped to a large extent. The penalty for the WIN coupled with the decision to opt for S.John , makes it very difficult here.

Inquisition - has been showing out in the tracks. Can WIN.

Heckett - did well in previous outing , has a better jockey here. Handicap looks stiff.

mumbai - 15 th december

Long card of 10 races on a week day , surprisingly many of these races are for horses in the lower class. Not many entries from the quality trainers , those who give friendly entries during the season may be in the limelight.


I have not shortlisted any horses for Thursday as most often when these types of races are conducted , the horses with best credentials and those in the odds , prefer to take a back seat. There are 3 good races but limited runners. Not worth exploring options in those cases.


On the face of it looks like small trainers will dominate.


There are many tipsters whose selections are available on the net .The Media Tips as they are called are listed in the RWITC site. Obvious that a few of them will manage to give 3 or 4 winners as One horse has to be declared WINNER @ the end of the race.When every everyone come to a conclusion that one particular horse will WIN , invariably the horse will not be sighted for place also. Some leading blogs should hopefully help locate Winners for thursday . Just that i am not very confident of any for whatever reasons spelt out , be it the odds or the uncertain nature of these low class races.


My comments ( if helpful ) can be considered while placing bets.

1. Kaskazi has run with the likes of Ordained One and Macchupicchu in the 2009/10 season. A repair case , last 9 runs has not been tried beyond 1200 metres , not even placed once in this period. Now being entered over a mile . Will it meet the fate of Kilifi ??


Radical Velocity - has not shown any sparkle except for the previous run. Not sure if the jockey can do justice at top handicap.


Glowing Mist - after being tested over sprint distances since debut , trainer has now opted to try his luck over a mile. Jockey has laid back attitude which does not help , yet cant be ignored for place.


Only stayer in the race is Kalinga Star whose form dropped during the recent Pune season. Trainer is a master in reducing the rating. If all is well it may shine.


Sparkler - Jockey S. Zervan after being toasted as the best upcoming jockey and having won laurels for his ride on Onassis is surprisingly not seen riding for Shroff , off late. Messed up on a piping hot favorite . Horse is in the lowest class since ages. A promotion is due any time , can it beat the youngsters is the ??


Cavalryman - has always done well when ridden by Sandesh. Lack of track works is a matter of concern. With just the jockey weight to carry , can surprise.




2. Scholar is a class I horse , seen here on demotion. Past 2 years it has been running races over 1200 only. Why the sudden fascination for a MILE race is a ???  Meeting some younger horses which are Winners in lower class , as is often the case , tactics will decide the fate.


Living the Dream - a known front runner , was seen trailing the field when stable mate Star of Gibraltor , Won recently. With Lake Michigan in the fray , will the same follow ?? Handicap is attractive , has seen better days.


Lyrical Symphony - past few runs were dismal , though it did meet superior company. Fate depends on who is the pace setter and how the race progresses.


Lake Michigan - obvious choice based on bloodlines and handicap but not worth a bet due to low odds.


Owner's horses have failed repeatedly for the past month . Most of the horses are not active in the betting , those in the know do not bet for obvious reasons.  Lack of Intent is noticed only at race time , Sunday was a perfect Zero . 

Horses like Sure Future opened at 40 to 1 for WIN and 10 to 1 for place in the Tote. The tote odds for place on Hills and Stars despite local boy Suraj was 8 times , though Win odds was just 4 times. Lake Leader ridden by B Prakash - 4 times place when it was quoted at 6 times for WIN.  Winter Wind , drifting from 1.50 to 6 times. Star Warrior , Star Trainer finishing no where. When bloggers suggest these horses it is on the belief that they do well , if they try and lose there are no issues absolutely . But when the horses are not even tried like in all these RKW cases , how can it be continued till we see some positive action on the turf.The Appropriate word for the owners trainers and jockeys who SCUMS and ROGUES. Period.


3.Stardom Bound is owned by the Vacchas notorious for failures on fancied horses , this very horse losing as half money favorite in Pune to  Deep Purple. Last run was eye catching not sure if the  intent is to gulp money in this race . On merit it stands a chance. Not worth a bet at ridiculous odds.


Great White - has Won at the same handicap with the same jockey in the previous season. Jockey merit can enable a good performance here.


the entry of Titleist and phosphor is comical.


Saddlers Rule suffers from poor saddle support , punters need to remember Sound of River losing earlier this season when ridden by this mediocre jockey.


Zaracha has deceived many a time. Punters may get the impression that 1200 is the right distance , Trainer may have better ideas, Cant be ignored.


Eye of the Storm - a class IV horse , trained by class Vb specialist. Less said the better.


4. VB race , some got abroad jockeys seen .They must be hoping to WIN at least these races.Equiano -  D.Allen is a VB rider , will ride a fancied horse. Current trainer is a front man for the trainer suspended for dope related offenses. Last run was with allowance jockey , horse was prominently seen till the winning post. Could not WIN.


Honey Bee - last run was forward , extended distance may enable a better performance.


Red Sensation - meeting relatively inferior field compared to last time. Cant be ignored.


Spruancy - can sprout wings if the Trainer decides to.


By the Way - third rate rogue trainer , utilised services of third class jockeys after debut run. Has brought it down to VB , which is what he is worth. Hughes cant sit on Donkeys and WIN .


5. Another VB race.


Fairy Queen - last run was quite decent. Fair chance.


Star Lady -  cant ignore due to presence of R Hughes  , cant bet on the current form - that is the predicament .


Wells Fargo and Stud of Gold - have both WON races since debut , yet rated less than 3. That is the irony of racing.  Non winners carrying penalty. Yet these low rated horses cant be ignored in Vb races as the Trainers are specialists in these type of races.


6. Except for Gloria , Saba and Creme De La Creme , the rest 4 are all capable of doing well.


Mystic Temple - suddenly dropped form in Pune after a couple of impressive Wins in Mumbai.. One more of the dubious trainers who is always using Pune races to reduce the handicap.Did run well recently , carries credentials


Glorious Miss - one of the rare rejects from the stables of class Vb trainer. Fir for 1000 metres. Can do well.


Moment to Remember - can live upto its name.


Daffodils - has had 2 forward runs over 1200 , carrying top weight. With a furlong less and weights reduced due to allowance jockey can make it pillar to post.


7. another class IV race .


Gossip - unreliable stable.  Trainer has all rejects from Shroff or managing horses just for the numbers. Ran as a favorite against the likes of Marauder and finished no where. Rider boy Kharadi played his part to perfection. S.Pasquier has done better on his first day at Mumbai. Pathetic riding. Cant be seen suggesting bets on horses from junk yard trainers.


Mountain Warrior - horse has credentials. Owner does not. So a ?? on whether it will be really tried here or not.


Spook - after finishing 3 lenghts behind Bling , there were expectations of a good performance in next outing. Horse was never in the odds , on expected lines finished 20 lenghts behind Winner Capriole. What can punters expect here ??


Tapococha - well bred , had a decent run on debut. Has a good chance.


Knight Rider - was seen moving the best in the race WON by Prince Arius. Aged jockey Hanumanth Singh could not do much. Attractive handicap here.


8.Native Lady - not with this jockey.


Ocean Emperor - last Win was in early 2010 as 35/100 favorite., subsequent runs have been poor. Entry given to gulp money or to win petty stakes is not known.


Matilda - if Abbas wants to mourn the loss of his relative who passed away recently he better do that at home. Why give 20 entries and take the punters for a ride and lead them to the grave yard. His record this season reflects his attitude towards racing. Horse is tracking well and over this distance has a good chance based on form.


Viva La Diva - last run with M.Khan was forward. SP Ranjane last WON  a race in 2008.  Speedy enough to make it a start to finish affair. Antia surely has better jockeys and if Ocean Emperor is really on JOB , i am sure this horse will be seen running backwards.


Crowned Princess - no chance for WIN.


Slyvinia - decent jockey well in at the weights. Can hope to place.


9.Electra - poorly bred , only noteworthy feature is the name B Prakash.


Mc Queen - speedy , known front runner. Handicap chance.


Fire Miss - inconsistent performer. Cant be ignored as it is getting weight .


River Tern - Jockey Y S Srinath holds the key to the fortunes of the punters. Horse will be helpless if he decides to hook.


Star of Zoltan - will relish the mumbai straight.


10. Sugar Loaf - was not extended in the recently held mock race. Carrying top weight , has class  , can it sustain the distance is the ??


Pablo Neruda - will place , thats for sure,. Anything beyond that is Bonus.


Star Builder - cant back it just for the name R Hughes. Last 2 runs were good , earlier 6 runs were pathetic. lost as 35 paisa favorite when ridden by Suraj Narredu to Enchanted which was ridden by SkJadhav. Shows to what extent the trainers would go. Last mumbai Won @ odds of 15 to 1 . Next run ridden by R Hughes not sighted for place also.


Thats My Master - delivered when least expected. Cant be ignored here just because Dasrath and Zervan and Hughes are seen in action.


Etesian -  Won impressively in pune.  Choice of rider is  negative , yet if fancied runners take it easy ,will place.


Classic Ruler -  Why David Allan is riding , Shelar can do a better job.

When iam not confident of my bets , i cant be seen suggesting bets .
