BSM day 5

Owing to inclement weather in Bangalore, the Races scheduled for Saturday & Sunday have been postponed to Tuesday 4th & Wednesday 5th June 2013 respectively. The Same Race Card will hold good.

Mysore Races Scheduled for Wednesday 5th June have been postponed to Thursday 6th June 2013.

Bangalore city witnessed heavy showers on Thursday evening lasting for a couple of Hours. Though the rains subsided by 9 30 pm , continuing light showers may play spoilsport.

If it stops raining completely by midnight there is a fair chance of schedule going through as it does not take long for water to be absorbed .The weather has been pretty good during the day , bright sunshine for a couple of hours will help the process.

Else we could see postponement of races as PNR would be quite high giving Jockeys the option of refuse to ride , quoting unfavorable and dangerous conditions.

BSM - day 4

Hi all , My comments and choices for the day being ;

1.Chiffon , Tradition , Flashing Colors.

Not many horses to choose from , a few are not tracked and rest are ridden my mediocre riders.

2. ( Mystic Lavenders , Immaculate , Trillion Win )

Anybody’s race as this is for horses in Class Vb .Race time pointers could be USEFUL in this race.

 

3.Kentucky Rose , Isn’t She Special , Ancient Title.

Many debutants featuring in this race. Those with run benefit may have a small advantage over the rest.

Adriphos and Elusive Hurricane are both tracking well and one of them could place.

Isn’t She Special is tracking extremely well , choice of rider is a let down . Avoidable for WIN as it will start as favorite.

K.Rose is well bred and has the best chance to succeed.

4.Spark of Diablo , Super Saloni , Ice Storm

Class Vb over 1400.Most jockeys are eminently forgettable and hence race time pointers could be MISLEADING in this race.

5.Spaniard , SandStorm , Appolo King.

Choices are limited based on equipment declared / choice of riders / distance suitability . Mi Amor needs strong saddle support and hence ignored . May not pay much for place. Not possible to Win.

Between Spaniard and SandStorm , the former is the better horse though race in previous meeting the latter finished ahead.

6.Albertino , Murioi , Kallu Mama.

Albertino and Murioi have beaten each other at blr and mum respectively Favours exchanged ?? The latter was well prepared while Winning PBM , while the former was given a poor ride. Mariinsky has raced 4 times and S.Zervan was the preferred choice. Despite his presence , Pesi’s Pet rider is not doing duty. C.Alford the aged Pet of the bookies is entrusted with the task for whatever reasons.

The other 2 entries from MAM have presence of lesser known jockeys and can be ignored. One horse is making debut and it would be a tough task for it to do well against seasoned campaigners. Invincible Prince is not in the same league as fancied runners.

Kallu Mama , first run after being gelded. Can be considered ahead of Mariinsky for PLACE for 2 reasons. Odds and choice of riders.

7.Palm Springs , Anonymous , Will Star.

On past form Equine Lover has capability to hack the field having seen better class . However on current form ( not visible ) and based on choice of rider , it may not even place.

Ignoring aged horses and those ridden by work jockeys the choice is very much limited.

Palm Springs has been a impressive Winner at Malakpet and carries the same form as evident in works. If odds and jockey are acceptable worth taking a chance else look for other options.

Volcano is speedy , may need a couple of runs to strip fitter.

Anonymous’s last few runs have been dismal. Has come down a lot on the scales and faces some aged / non performing horses. Based on that factor could surprise.

Will Star is speedy and deserves a look for atleast place.

   

8. ( Agostini , Ace Bucephalus ) Alejor

Many high profile 3 year old’s in the fray. The aged horses get a chance to reduce the rating after this race.

Fastest Finger , Golden Phantom , Vocation can be ignored , having raced in non competitive fields.

Gerome is ridden by S.Zervan who gives the impression that every horse he rides can come off the pace and Win easily. The enormous gifts received in mumbai has stopped , riding in bangalore reflects his true skills. Can hope to place.

Agostini – not given the best of rides in last run. Recent tracks are decent and worth taking a chance if e/w permits.

Ace Bucephalus – though based in Mysore , this colt performed remarkably well on its debut run at blr. A close 3 rd , that too after grazing the wrong end of the field for 80 % of the race distance. The draw allotted is not favorable , on merit has a fair chance. 

Alejor – is getting weight from fancied runners. Very well bred , rider declared is not the best. The upset if any in this race.

9 ( Alcazaba , Triumphant ) All Proof.

Triumphant had a run recently and that definitely helps. With the benefit of allowance is well placed compared to Alcazaba. Should place , can Win.

Alcazaba was an impressive Winner on debut. Penalty seems stiff. Can overcome on sheer class.

All Proof – I Chisty is seen on many fancied runners at all race centers. His performance at the end of day is Pleasing only to  bookmakers. When Winning jockey at this handicap is available , surprising to see Trainer opt for lower weight jockey who will be saddled with weights to match the handicap.

Hi all ,


Choices and preferences for the day are -

1.Samovar , Demand Draft , Gift of Love

The classic VB race to start off the proceedings. A look at the previous 3 runs reflect that most horses are finishing 20 lenghts behind winner.  There is no scope for improvement in all those horses. No point at looking at individual horse merit as obviously many are seeing a huge drop in class compared to previous runs and could do well here. A few horses have changed stables / are not sighted in tracks / sporting negative equipment , All the more difficult to bet confidently.. Hopefully 2 of these horses should place .

2. Winged Foot , Absolute Red , Scenic Warrior.

Race for maiden 3 year old’s over 1400. Pedigree , current form and choice of jockey are indicators to shortlist contenders which are Absolute Red , Scenic Warrior , Noble Path, Forever Honour, Wind Surfer , Winged Foot.

Absolute Red was fancied in both its outings , failed as it was seeing better company. A fair chance to Win , should place.

Noble Path is not the best bred but has run over this distance twice and finished in top 4. Looks difficult here.

Scenic Warrior – may have seen better days in Mumbai , a Win is not a formality. First ride for this jockey this season , hence cant be backed with confidence for WIN. Horse did run once in blr winter , trainer then tried his luck in mumbai.

Forever Honour – lack of recent tracks and choice of rider looks negative. Stable mate will be the rage. Horse is well bred and has run some fair races in Winter. A long shot place prospect.

Wind Surfer – an expensive failure in previous outing. Recent tracks are decent but choice of rider is a big letdown .This being 1 st run over 1400 , difficult to see it winning.

Winged Foot – well bred , placed 3 rd on debut ( last day of Winter ) coming with a belated bid over 1200.The field was quite poor , the jockey even more. Hence relative merit of this horse can be ignored.Filly is bred to stay and place looks certain. With a bit of luck can WIN.

3.Queen of the Stars , Natural View , Deep Diver.

Jolie is seen in tracks since Dec. Though well bred it has not raced , a ?? on its capabilities. In any race ridden by a mediocre rider. Not worth considering for WIN. Place may not pay much. There may be support based on Nanoli Million.

Natural View is not sighted in tracks. If it has been kept fit on the SLY a fair chance to succeed as it finished 4 th in its only start. A long break since debut and no tracks are to be factored

Deep Diver is bred for speed and a good jump from the gates can enable a place.

Queen of the Stars – a import from Hyd , finishing 4 th to Aventus.A chance bet due to the odds.

Spirit of Chartwell – 5 th to Valerian , finishing 11 lenghts behind Winner. Horse is bred to stay and over sprint distance may struggle if a fast pace is cut by the speedier horses in the fray.

4.Sherman Oaks ,Acclaimed , Ballantoy.

The race is between the 3 year old’s in the fray. Acclaimed has Won impressively on debut and showing out in tracks. Not conceding much to its main opponent Sherman Oaks. The only reason to prefer the latter being the ODDs and relative race experience. Going by logic Acclaimed and Apparition could be Owner's double for the day.

5.An Acquired Taste , Unforgettable , Panamera.

Unforgettable is  seen in tracks after a long break. Recent tracks are decent and that could enable a place spot.

Chase the Sun , is seeing a huge jump in class , though it raced in classics at kolkata.The reason being the poor quality of horses stationed at that center. Class 4 horses of Pune Won races easily and moved up to class I , beating the local challengers at will. This race consists of 2 broken up horses and 4 interlinked horses and that could help it to place.

Maddox – lost form completely after testing its luck at malakpet.

Spearhead – a genuine class I horse , known front runner. The age , choice of rider and handicap are not positive factors.

Panamera – has struck form recently ( winning at longer odds ) after a couple of poor runs when fancied strongly for Win. Rider is a disgrace and with so many interlinked horses , intent is always a ?? .

An Acquired Taste – Seems to be the pick of the 4 year old’s in the fray. Horses from this stable do extremely well when they are ignored in the betting. When fancied , they are seen gracing the wrong end of the field. On merit , horse looks good enough to WIN.   

6.( Solitaire Royale , Cristoffe ) Skylight Express. 

Race is restricted to the 3 year old’s , 5 of them are in the fray. No point considering the older horses for even place due to equipment change , handicap , choice of jockeys and the AGE factor. 

Fearless Moments has Won all 3 starts ,in Hyderabad impressively. Horse has the tendency to drift out in the straight. Is seen conceding weight for the first time and also facing qualitative horses. A Win looks difficult . May at best place. 

Skylight Express – a impressive Winner in last outing , though it beat nothing of note the handicap can help it to place. Was a fair 3 rd to highly rated Kalu Mama on debut. Filly is very well bred. 

Solitaire Royale , officially has won both its starts ( the 2 nd Win was not on tracks ) Considering the subsequent form of the horses which placed below , has a good chance to deliver. 

Cristoffe – the run in kolkatta during invitation week end was very bad to be true.A Winner on debut at bangalore, subsequent 2 efforts at malakpet saw it playing finishing 2^nd to Decathlon , which is in a class of its Own. Recent tracks are encouraging. 

7.Apparition , Towers of Hanoi , Fantastic Star. 

Apparition may run as shortest price runner during the day. Could be below 40/100 , having regard to the quality of opposition. In any case at these odds there is no point wagering. The rest are here / there types , difficult to spot a good horse which could be backed confidently for EVEN place. Such being the case , this race is best ignored from betting point of view. 


8. Something Different , Balance of Nature , Sukhmanee. 

Class 4 race , a look at jockeys declared says it all.

BSM - day 2

Hi all ,

There has been steady downpour since 7 pm . The city needed this badly as temperatures were soaring and there was the looming drinking water crisis . 

There should be no impact on racing as race tracks would absorb them quickly. The PNR could be in the range of 4.60 to 5.00.This will definitely help those horses which relish the underfoot conditions. 

Choices and Comments are - 

1.Arziki , Youre Gorgeous , Royal Salute

Most horses in the fray either not tracked or sporting negative equipment. As intent is lacking in these horses , there are limited options.

Royal Salute was an impressive Winner in terms race during Winter . As it is seen conceding weight , it is not going to be an easy task .

Arziki – expensive failure since debut.  Has the weights in favor and should hopefully deliver.

Youre Gorgeous and Assurance are expected to fight for place.

2. Nayan Star , Shamrock Lady , Royal Sarot.

Nayan Star’s last run was too bad to be true. Race time pointers looked negative and performance was on expected lines. The filly has raced with better horses in its first 2 outings and hence has the best chance to score. The conditions would also suit this filly.

Amongst the debutants Shamrock Lady looks the best based on track works and bloodlines. Should hopefully place.

Arch Duchess has poor saddle support and can only hope to place.

3. ( Nabisco , Scarlet O Hara ) StrenghtandWonder..

Kafka did win on debut , field was modest. Is now conceding weight and bloodlines does not give an indication of  its superiority. As rider declared is poor , may not even place.

Scarlet O Hara , impressive winner over 1100. Is in receipt of weight from frontline contenders. Has a fair chance to succeed.

Nabisco – Impressive Winner in race 183. Is regularly seen on tracks unlike stable mate StrenghtandWonder which is obviously the better horse.

4.Sareeta , Prince of Kintrye , Velvetine.

Class Vb race , many interlinked horses in the fray.

5. Mr Carpe , Sussex Downs , Magnomical.

Winner is restricted to the 4 year old’s in the fray The first named has better saddle support , the latter has seen better class. The leading top weight jockeys in the country entrusted with the task .

Magnomical , Samara Sun and Wind of Soul are all capable of doing well considering the handicap and track conditions. Samara Sun Won very impressively in winter. Subsequent runs when pitted against stable mates was on expected lines. Jockey merit is a ??

Catamaran may not finish in top 5 considering the quality of opposition here. All previous runs were against modest opposition and in same age group.

6.Zultanaite , Sovetskaya , Machiavellianism .

MAM’s horses are ridden by jockeys who are not competent to ride in class I.

Immense is talented but ridden by dubious jockey. Facing younger horses , hence going to be difficult to even place.

Sovetskaya – a late finisher has weights in favour.  Previous 3 runs have been below par. Can make amends here.

The classy Machiavellianism has shown its ability across all centers. It fared poorly once when the PNR was high on derby day. No doubt it is the best in the fray. A BV case , is now conceding weight . Odds will be low for comfort.

Zultanaite – first run after being gelded. Is fit for 1400 – 1600 races based on bloodlines. Last run over 2000 metres was beyond its capability , besides it was also conceding weight all round. Is now well placed and considering the lack of constructive opposition should easily Place. Can upset

7. Alpine Shine , Wonder Lash , Bebo.

Most of the horses in the fray are not sighted in the tracks. Difficult to choose based on March 2013 performances.

The Guardian being a set back case is best avoided as it will be fancied for WIN.

8. Cirque Du Soliel , Athletic Star , Sudden Magik.

Ratham is entrusted to Neeraj Rawal . Horse is known to bleed and usually comes off the pace to land the spoils. Cant expect this jockey to do justice particularly when interlinked horses are in the fray. Horse may also not relish the underfoot conditions.

Radical Attraction is the most consistent horse at this center, First time since debut trainer has opted for negative equipment. A sign of lack of confidence .

Athletic Star does well when least expected as can be seen from its previous  2 Wins. Rider declared is genuine and has a good chance to reverse the standings vis a vis Ratham who was ahead by 11 lenghts when they last met.

9. Ice Lander , Superb Style , Resurgent

Bad race , difficult to even pick the contenders. Most horses have lost form , few which are good are sporting negative equipment change.

BSM 2013 - day 1

Hi all,

First day of the summer racing season. Not sure if race results this week end will meet expectations of general public. As usual , most horses are there to get a feel of the track and will be in serious contention only declared jockey is competent to Win a race.  The punter’s bet on  known form , the owner’s &  trainer’s  decide to bet only when they are sure of its chances. Until then keep giving easy runs.  All major stakeholders in racing have a good chance to recover the investments made. The stake holder with least prominence is the punter who have the onerous task of locating a good horse for wagering.

The probable contenders in the fray are listed with appropriate comments. I personally feel that the Winner would be amongst these horses only and majority of them could place.  While the intent is to list best 3 at times there is scope to comment on many horses , if  field consists of several genuine horses .

I would not be suggesting On Money Favorite for obvious reasons. On merit these are the best & should logically WIN . But as a racing punter it is not worth taking a chance due to Low odds and High Risk. It may be sensible to opt for value bet on the other fancied horses in the fray. Returns / Risk are the same other things remaining constant. Instead of locating the horse which crosses the post first , we are better off trying to find a horse which will finish in top 3. If there is any substantial upward movement in race time odds , the option is to go for place only.

1.Race for maiden 3 year old’s over 1200 , most of them making debut.

Azetic Star is showing out in tracks , carries a lot of hype due to the breeding. Winning on debut on first day of the season is no easy task despite strong credentials . Comes into contention as field is modest & others don’t seem well prepared . Jockey Y.S.Srinath has not been active for a long time and gong by the declarations , looks like he will be regularly partnering horses trained by  Neil Darashah. The latter has several good horses in the fray on Sunday . Obvious he will be in the limelight over first week end. The Owner of Azetic Star had removed all his horses from this very  trainer last year after His Horse WON. How often do you get to see these actions ?? Unfortunately it  reflects on the way he prefers to operate. With luck not going his way in other aspects of His life on Saturday , all the more reason to skip a bet here as Odds will also be low for comfort.

Authentic Stride has had a couple of useful rides in Winter . Not sighted in tracks and ridden by jockey who is not seen on Winners. The trainer has opted for pretty ordinary jockeys on first day . If it is worth a bet , it is purely on account of track experience of the horse.

Noble and Nice has run with some better horses and is active in tracks. The breeding is average , however as rest of the field are not expected to shine should place .

Sue Nevell – has the rider for the occasion. Stable is not very reliable. Place odds may not be attractive.

Options – can be skipped as race may be restricted to first 3 fancied horses.  Place payouts may not be lucrative as such.

Win bets – None due to odds

Noble and Nice or Authentic Stride for Place.

2.Class VB race , race time pointers are usually more useful.

Triple Victory is seen on tracks and has a better jockey relatively. Should place based on its past runs. Can Win

Magnanimous – not done anything of note till date. The handicap is attractive and the jockey has Won more than 200 races since debut , unlike others in the fray who have not crossed even 4- 5 races and are yet fancied.

Silver Street – going by bloodlines may give the impression of being good but going thro past performances it is clear that Horse is not genuine. The handicap may enable a better show here.

Cool Hand – a Winner in Winter , has handicap and odds to tackle.

Not an ideal race to wager.

Win bets – None  due to nature of race

Each way or place depending on race time odds – Magnanimous

3.Handicap race In class 4 , likely to be dominated by 3 year old’s

Magical Spell - on current form Magical Spell looks to be the best as it has finished 4 th to Mariinsky in Mumbai . However due to low Odds ,  presence of allowance Jockey &  top Handicap , better to SKIP as Win is not a certainty.

Magic Wave is known to cut a fast pace right from the word go. Regular Trainer is under suspension and horse is also running with negative equipment change. Yet having regard to the distance , capability of other runners has a fair chance to Upset.

Amazon Bay has changed stables many a time. Trainer Nityanand usually gets a chance to place his horses in the early stages of the season. 

Cash My Way – speedy as seen in all its 4 runs. The handicap is stiff , at best a place possibility  . Payout for place will be nominal.

Win bets – None ( due to odds )

Place bet -  Magic Wave

4.A class 4 race over 1400 metres run over 2 divisions

Divine Deliverance – has a Win in Mys to its credit. Was not very active in Winter , made appearance in race 180 ?? The weights will take a  toll here. As Field consists of worn out and OLDER horses could place.

Firelight – no tracks , hence a ?? on intent. Has seen better opposition.

Formula One – goes over right distance. The only issue is whether jockey can do justice at this handicap as Jagadeesh is known for winning at bottom handicap only.

Sumitomo – failed favorite , winner being Salt of the Earth. On relative handicapping may look good but Trainer / Jockey / Owner combination is fatal for punters.

Supreme – runs well when fresh , dislikes being tracked. Will relish the conditions , place looks certain.

Alianz- a late starter .Hence its chances would depend on how well it jumps from the starting gates. 

Win bet – None , due to lack of confidence on fancied runner.

Each way on Supreme and / or Alianz Place.

5.A class 3 CUP race , which will be dominated by 3 year old’s

Striking – A winner in all 3 starts . Was disqualified once for presence of prohibited substance. With only 5/15 horses in serious contention , has only 4 to tackle. Horse is conceding weight in its first outing in handicap race . Not going to be easy to Win. Can place.

Perfect Soul – lost as a favorite in race 35 , which was Won by Striking. Looking at the relative handicap , stands a better chance to succeed. The performance in race 176 is bets ignored as rider did not extend it to the maximum extent. Presence of Owner in paddock will give fair idea of its chances.

Turf Striker – Won when least expected . Though subsequent runs have been reasonable , it is difficult to visualize this horse Winning , may at best finish 3 rd .

Archie – A debutant Winner , 2 nd run was after a long gap and rider did not show any inclination to improve position until the race was as good as over. Recent track movements reflect readiness to make amends.

Refreshed – beat nothing of note in race 257 after many poor performances.

Win bet – Archie , if odds are acceptable ( preferably above 1.25 )

reason being place payout on fancied runners wont be more than 50/100.

6.The feature event of the day , a Class I handicap race.

Chul Bul Pandy , Vijays Conquer , Successor and Secret Punch are rated highly , as a result of which the weights allotted are not in favor.

Cecil – a model of consistency in winter . Just 1 track noticed on 11 / 05 . Though the horse would relish the conditions , fitness has to be ascertained by animal weight and paddock condition. Should place , can Win.

Cape Ferret – 2 nd to CBP , finished ahead of Cecil. Seems well placed on handicap and looks moral for place.

Jersey Girl – only 4 year old in the fray, Has Won a classic in recent past and is facing a field which consists of horses which are either out of form , aged or out handicapped. Though ideal trip would be 1400 – 1600 , a Win over sprint distance cant be ruled out. Though meeting sprinters of repute in class I for the first time , fact is  6/11 horses have no chance to even place ( based on jockey declared and current form ) . A good chance despite the presence of I.Chisty

7.A race for maiden 3 year old’s over 1400.

15 in fray , sadly only 5 could be in contention. Rest being bystanders : )

Bronzino – has done the trip and is also very prominent in tracks . Hence a fair chance.

Charlatan – first run after being gelded in January. A long gap may help its recovery . Tracks are good and horse is preceded by Illustrious siblings .

Triumphant – any 1 good reason why Neeraj Rawal is asked to do duty ??

as he is not retained rider for Owner. Rides only for selected dubious stables. Yet trainer prefers him. On merit horse has a chance to place.

Laguna Beach – first run , choice of jockey is negative. A Neeraj Rawal may have Won a few races in blr / few terms races. Difficult for the likes of A.M.Tograllu to do justice,

Santa Ana – well bred , not many would give it a chance due to APPU factor but then he is better off drawn 4 and has vast experience which will help matters.

Southern Sky – surely one of the better horses in the fray. Logically should place and can Win  having seen better days at Mumbai. Yet when one notices the name Deep Shankar , the first impression is to avoid Win bets as he is often seen struggling even in Hyd.

Stimulate – lost on debut as trainer decided that ODDS were more important than jockey. Declared a raw apprentice jockey in terms race which kept the bookies very busy.

Win bet – None

Each way on Stimulate and / or Triumphant place.

8.A race over 1400 in class 4 .

Towers of Hanoi – recent tracks are forward . Unplaced since debut , yet over this distance and considering poor form of rest of the field can Place.

Wind Force – 4 year old debutant  ?? good luck

Beautiful Life – In and out running. Not worth even a place bet.

Royal Admiral – speedy , well in at the weights. A couple of recent tracks reflect positive intent . Should easily place. Can Win.

Dance of A General – a maiden till date. A positive change in stables may enable a better performance.

Win – None
