2.Star League , Gara Fluid , Blue Origin.
Blue Origin has not been a consistent performer. Difficult to see it Winning.
Gara Fluid gets a bright chance to place as a few runners are backward.
Star league has failed many a time but seeing the quality of opposition gets a fair chance.
3.Sirono , Lad Diva , Sky Light , Brianna.
Youngsters , can go any which way.
Sirono was a forward runner in race 266. Hence gets first preference.
Sky Light - well bred , should be involved in the finish. , subject to a competent Jockey doing duty.
Lad Diva - Should easily place , looks difficult for WIN.
4.Deep Blue Sky , Dance N Celebrate , Rose Mead.
Jockey merit can see the first named getting the better of Dance n Celebrate.
Kings Admiral can place if Rose Mead is unable to reproduce track form.
5.Lester , Pre Set , Express it.
Leon Cavallo with Selvaraj does look a non jobber.
Born Beauty has negative change in equipment.
Above 3 choices come by default.
Preset can place ( edited as i had inadvertantly refered to Precept which won last week ).
6.Cotswold Arms , Aristos , Sprint Star , Bid For Gold.
Ice Breaker was mighty impressive in Mumbai. With Padmanabhan not around and with Srinath astride it would be very difficult to think of WIN bets.
Aristos has done very well off late in spite of carrying weight. Should do well here.
Sprint Star - Both runs in mumbai were poor. Back to home centre. Should place.
Bid for Gold -appeals on handicap.
Cotswold Arms - The most experienced of the runners having participated in races across all clubs. Has one of the most underrated jockey astride. Worth a each way punt.
7.Duke of Edinburgh , Alianz , Party Tonite.
First named has better credentials than the rest.
Alianz looks certain to place.
8.Kingdom of Dreams , Camelot , Desdemona.
Limited options as GuruJosh and Captains Lover have negative change in equipment.
Rugged Beauty is out handicapped along with Royal Player.
Desdemona has changed stables . Is the dark horse here.
Camelot is a front runner. Should place.
KOD has failed many a time . With positive Jockey switch , can WIN.
9.Good Companion. , Pinaakini , Sunny Land.
Limited Options,
Days Best - Duke of Edinburgh.
Kainchi - Star League , Sirono , Duke of Edinburgh , Kindgom of Dreams , Good Companion.

My choices -
1. Youngsters , non winners being tried over 1400. Staying capabilities matter a lot.
Work Force , Arya Veer and Vernostonous and Liberty Ship are the genuine contenders.
Arya Veer is being tracked by the Trainer himself which itself is an indication of its fitness and readiness to strike.
Work Force - a couple of uninterested runs earlier in Winter. Tracking decently. Should place.
Liberty Ship - can hope to place.
Vernostonus - just one track on 05/05 , which cant be taken at face value as these Days horses even without being shown as being tracked do well .The trainers CON the public by ensuring that the works outs are not published.There is a positive change in equipment.
Cowboy Cal - negative change in equipment , Owner change ?? Jockey merit is questionable.
2.Youngsters .
Gluteus Maximus , Spark of Atan , Atahabasca Star.
Debut run of Athabasca Star was eye catching. Should shine here thought the choice of jockey is a matter of concern.
Spark of Atan - well bred - tracking well , in with a good chance to WIN.
Glutues Maximus - Looking very good for place. If the others are caught napping this Colt can run away with the race.
3. Amber Star , Inspirator , Gampu.
Merit of Armaan Khan is a ?? On merit the horse GAMPU has the best credentials.
Otherwise looks an open race.
Amber Star had a forward run in Joriki race and hence may be fancied.Not sure if these small time trainers WIN , when the horse is fancied.
4. On Pedigree , Class , Quality of earlier runs in the classics Astral Flash looks a CINCH.
But does One bet at these odds ?? Definitely NOT .
At 50.5 kgs Another Destiny is looking good for Place. May not have run with classy horses but most runners here are looking stiff on handicap h hence the best option for place.
5.Greens , Top Kapi , Angel Fire.
Limited options here. Ready to Mingle may be the stable choice as Star Assembly is carrying top weight and being ridden by a mediocre jockey.
With Padmanabhan being suspended difficult to take a call on TOP Kapi as usually trainers like to be in the limelight. Would not like substitute trainers to take credit.
6.Spot On , Stone of Destiny , Sparkling Adventure.
Front runners will have a say in the finish and hence the above Three horses are opted for.
Star Wave has been a failure for past 2 years and has gifted quite a few races to far inferior horses for obvious reasons. May at best place.
Corbett - at this handicap and considering the long absence from tracks a ???
7. Walnut Creek , Spark of Napolean , Couleus Rouge.
The last named may be the on money favorite. Carrying Top weight , based on its earlier runs looks unbeatable but for the stiff handicap. In any case how can it be worth a below .50.
A negative bet can be considered with the amount being covered by a place bet on Walnut Creek .
Walnut Creek - from a speedy sire , tracks merit a each way PUNT.
Spark of Napolean - a well backed Winner in Winter.
8. Carla , Sabala , Spark of Passion.
First named is brilliant in tracks . If a fraction of the same is reproduced in the race track then the race is in its safe keeping. Not very sure if One would get decent odds to BET.
Foswell - iam sure there are better riders for Dhariwal . With Carla being fancied its difficult to consider Foswell due to the conflict of intrest.
Can Win - Gluteus Maximus , Amber Star .Carla.

As usual the most intoxicating races at Mysore. Punters usually keep far away from the fancied runners. Many horses only serve their masters who are not the Owners but the Bookies.
It is a tough call but the ones to watch out for are -
1.Smile Again , Spark of Symphony , Raging River.
Kaliska does not impress for WIN.
Smile Again is certain for place.
2.Killer Foot , Del Gratia , Magic Wind.
Del Gratia is the one which can create a flutter.
Killer Foot did all the running last week and then retired. Can improve further as most runners have no credibility.
3.World is Too Much , Champions League , Mr Hurricane.
First named may finally come good after repeated failures during the previous season.
Champions league will Place .
4.Magical Spirit , Briannsta , Saptwasha.
M Spirit was with the front bunch and then gave way to far superior horses last week. Should easily place here. With a bit of luck can WIN.
Saptwasha - coming from main circuit. Has seen better horses in its career. Unextended 5 th over 1200. Can do well over the extended distance.
5.Royal Liason , Time is Precious , Jericho.
Royal Liason gets the first preference though the jockey declared to ride is a bit mediocre.
Time is Precious is Moral for place.
6.Land of Gold , Arkwright , Behram.
Behram is definitely superior but at this weight and with APPU astride it is not going to be easy. Can WIN but not worth the risk.
Land of Gold , with the benefit of a race run is looking good and should be vying for honors.
7.Ansonia , Perfect bond , Tina's Triumph.
Close call between the first TWO. Jockey Mubarak has not WON a race since debut and gets a chance to score .
Perfect Bond , very consistent. Should run a good race .

Sunset Boulevard for the Juvenile Million
First day saw many favorites obliging to the utter delight of the followers of form , though most races were devoid of the competitive element.
These are my choices for Sunday.
1. Mister Trooper , Prince Norbert , I Fancy You.
Race meant for horses in the lowest class. Could go0 any which way.
2. Aztec Gold , Plaka , Lambourn.
Youngsters. Race is restricted to the first Two named horses only.
3.ReZoom , Ordained One , Showers of Luck.
First named was very impressive in last outing. Gets the Nod.
Ordained One is well bred and coming from Mumbai. Difficult to take a call when Imran Khan is the declared Jockey at Top Weight.
4. Very competitive race in the offing.
Adonis - well bred , will relish the underfoot conditions. Should easily place.
Delight of Asia - Failed as a favorite TWICE in Winter. Stylishly bred. Can atone for past failures.
Morava Good Time - came up very well in the closing stages in its previous run. Can do well here.
Ice Bound - tracking well. Can hope to place.
String Along - a lot depends on the Jockey. In any case , the Horse can at best Place. Win is difficult.
Crown Empress - Very well bred. tracking decently. Has a decent chance,
Con Artiste - Has seen better class horses in its career. Hope the Jockey does justice , though with Trainer Padmanabhan suspended , iam not sure if the Horse would be in serious contention.

Avesco - best in tracks and pedigree. Jockey is going through difficult times. Should ideally WIN.
Valahak / Indian Bolt - One of them can place.
6.Feature event.
Awarding - Impressive in tracks , well bred , has a decent record but conceding weight to its rivals. May prove to be its downfall.
Sun Kingdom - Good chance based on the Jockey declared to ride.
Moon Star - Retained Jockey has preferred this over Sun Kingdom. Coming from Mumbai. Should only Place , Win looks a bit doubtful.
Foreign Exchange - the RAGE at the Tracks after the Bloodless victory in Winter. Will start as favorite.
Sunset Boulevard - going by its impressive tracks this is the horse to BEAT. May not have beaten anything of note in Mumbai but the manner of Winning and its latest spurts does indicate the superiority of the Horse.
7.Siachen , Batista , Eagle Claws.
Going to be a very very close race , judging by the quality of the horses and the Riders.
I go with Siachen.
8.Bhagirathi , Amar Prem , Stone of Destiny.
Except for one good run , early in its career , Cruising has been a failure all along. At times the Jockeys have ridden pathetically and on other occassions the Other horses in the fray were far superior. May be meeting some inferior horses in this race but going by its last few runs , cant place a confident Bet.
Amar Prem - at the bottom of the scales. Keep an eye. Can place at Longer Odds.
Bhagirathi - Can it beat the Handicapper ??
9.Tempus Fugit , Immense , Ballibay.
The 3 year old's should fight it out for Honors.
Good chance - Rezoom , Bhagirathi , Tempus Fugit and Sunset Boulevard.
Fair chance - Avesco , Azten Gold and Siachen.

Day - 1 - Bangalore Summer Races - 2010
Hi all,
Welcome start to the summer season.As befits the current mood in the CLUB , it is raining intermittently at bangalore and some early showers tonite and possibly on race day may affect the chances of many fancied runners.It is always difficult to pick horses during the first few meetings , the reason being the condition of the track , the current form of the horse due to the long break since the earlier Season and the choice of riders.
Many outstation riders are here to enjoy the races at bangalore.
My views on the opening day races .
1. Vb race , meant for the Horses in the lowest class and those who have not WON a race in the recent past. This is usually a gift race for some small time trainer and the quality of Jockeys declared to ride is an indicator of what to expect.
It makes sense to watch the proceedings and note the condition of the Track.
Purely on Handicap , Good Gift may be worth a Each way Bet.
Constance has been tracking regularly and can hope to place.
2.Youngsters.
Seven Heaven , Sky Glider , Bugatti and Sweet Caroline are the contenders for the trophy.
The last named is very well bred but surprisingly ran has had only one race run , on 9 th January 2010 where the filly finished 2 nd to Sun Spirit. Tracking well but as the quality of J.G.Sampson is not known , it is not worthwhile betting for WIN. All the more due to the long absence from the track.
Seven Heaven - stands a decent chance.
Sky Glider - failed many a time , poorly bred.At best a place chance.
Bugatti - If Sweet Caroline is being TRIED then Bugatti will be NO SHOW. On the contrary there is the possibility of Sweet Caroline being used a Cover for Bugatti , with a view on the odds. Both trainers being Linked.
3. Black Beauty , Precept , Divine Strike.
Though it is a class IV race , for all practical purposes it is a VB race as most participants have no recent form . The horses which have WON a race have done so in the lowest CLASS and are here on PROMOTION.
4. Crown Vision - Stands TALL.
Impressive Winner on Debut. Should repeat . As always if the ODDS are below .70 , it is not WORTH A BET , irrespective of the Merit of the Horse.
Missoni and Love Conquers all for Place.
Grand Topaz is not visible in the tracks. As most horses have no decent form and a few fancied Youngsters are conceding weight , this Horse can Place.
5. Western Command , Timeless Treasure , Spark of Gold.
Feature event of the day has limited options as a few horses have no class whatsoever and are here for a airing.
Timeless Treasure is the universal choice . Has Won only 1 race in the past 2 years , a gift race at the concluding stages of the Winter Season. Does well only at bottom handicap. With the rest of the field being very ordinary chances are decent but not a CERTAINTY.
Western Command - one of the genuine class I horse in the fray. Very sparingly run , there is a visible change in the stable. Trainer Padmanabhan under suspension ??? Should easily place.
Spark of Gold - has participated with the best in the country. At 63 kgs , weight may be a burden.
Gloriosa - class 3 Winner at bangalore. Achieved success at Kolkata. Is in receipt of weight from the fancied runners. Due to the limited runners , can Hope to place.
6.Dim Sum , Flying Tricolour , Gift of Love.
Logically this race is for the Youngsters with the rest of the runners having negligible chance for Victory. The speedy Sweet Timer is the only Horse from the older lot which can PLACE.
Dim Sum - has the services of the Champion Jockey , Impressive Winner in Winter. Subsequent run with superior horses was decent enough though ridden by a apprentice Jockey. Has a bright chance to WIN.
Flying Tricolor - very speedy , usually a start to finish specialist.Hope the Mumbai import Jodha does justice to the mount. He is s back after serving suspension .
Eloise - There are FAR Better jockeys than S.Zervan . I am sure the Trainer does have several options with regard to Jockeys who would be willing to ride . The handicap may be a reason to go with this Rookie but for a First timer at Bangalore it is not easy to WIN on Debut.
Friendly Bond - was friendly to the Bookies in race 209 beating the fancied runners. Appu is known for his tactics of going to the front. But after his FALL , he has not been very comfortable in races which has many runners. Could get boxed from DRAW 2.
Gift of Love - Should PLACE.
7.Spark of Reverence , Native Talent , Modern Art.
Spearhead failed miserably in race 268. Has not been able to show the form shown as a youngster.
Spark of Reverence has been very consistent thorough out Winter .. Faces very ordinary field . Can WIN.
Many participants have not been tracked since the previous RUN.
8.Joriki looks to be a clear WINNER.Odds may not be very lucrative.
Prezzie , Corleone and Amber Star will fight for the minor places.
True Impression is not seen in the tracks , has negative change in equipment , hence Ignored.
Best Horses in the fray - Joriki , Crown Vision ,
Can Shine - Dim Sum , Seven heaven , Spark of Reverence.

Western Command - one of the genuine class I horse in the fray. Very sparingly run , there is a visible change in the stable. Trainer Padmanabhan under suspension ??? Should easily place.
Spark of Gold - has participated with the best in the country. At 63 kgs , weight may be a burden.
Gloriosa - class 3 Winner at bangalore. Achieved success at Kolkata. Is in receipt of weight from the fancied runners. Due to the limited runners , can Hope to place.
6.Dim Sum , Flying Tricolour , Gift of Love.
Logically this race is for the Youngsters with the rest of the runners having negligible chance for Victory. The speedy Sweet Timer is the only Horse from the older lot which can PLACE.
Dim Sum - has the services of the Champion Jockey , Impressive Winner in Winter. Subsequent run with superior horses was decent enough though ridden by a apprentice Jockey. Has a bright chance to WIN.
Flying Tricolor - very speedy , usually a start to finish specialist.Hope the Mumbai import Jodha does justice to the mount. He is s back after serving suspension .
Eloise - There are FAR Better jockeys than S.Zervan . I am sure the Trainer does have several options with regard to Jockeys who would be willing to ride . The handicap may be a reason to go with this Rookie but for a First timer at Bangalore it is not easy to WIN on Debut.
Friendly Bond - was friendly to the Bookies in race 209 beating the fancied runners. Appu is known for his tactics of going to the front. But after his FALL , he has not been very comfortable in races which has many runners. Could get boxed from DRAW 2.
Gift of Love - Should PLACE.
7.Spark of Reverence , Native Talent , Modern Art.
Spearhead failed miserably in race 268. Has not been able to show the form shown as a youngster.
Spark of Reverence has been very consistent thorough out Winter .. Faces very ordinary field . Can WIN.
Many participants have not been tracked since the previous RUN.
8.Joriki looks to be a clear WINNER.Odds may not be very lucrative.
Prezzie , Corleone and Amber Star will fight for the minor places.
True Impression is not seen in the tracks , has negative change in equipment , hence Ignored.
Best Horses in the fray - Joriki , Crown Vision ,
Can Shine - Dim Sum , Seven heaven , Spark of Reverence.
Good for place - Black Beauty , Western Command , Flying TriColour , Corleone.
Negative - Eloise , Sweet Carloline , Spearhead .

My Sore - 19 th May
Last week results reinforced the credibility of Mysore races. A few fancied runners are expected to oblige tomorrow.
1. Tropical Flyer , Sauce Piquant , Moon Light Dancer.
First named does have an edge . Jockey has not been very successful in the recent past.
Moon Light Dancer looks certain for place.
2.Miss Ruby , Majestic Strides , Leather Queen.
Majestic Strides has changed stables. Has failed several times , but has the class to conquer if FIT.
Miss Ruby - tracking well , First time over a MILE. Difficult to take a Positive call.
Leather Queen and Rota Rooa for the minor places.
3.( Dirty Harry - Vibhuti ) Spark of Symphony.
Close call between the first two. First named can WIN if the Rider is upto the mark.
Spark of Symphony is looking good for place.
Killer Foot is at the bottom of the scales. Can be the UPSET if any.
4.Danger Diabolic gets the nod.
The Gain / Proud Accolade for place.
5. Queen of Destiny , Chamcha In Chief , Blood Stream.
Can go any which way. Horses which participated last week may have an edge over the rest of the field.
6. Beauty on Duty , Star of Excellence , Lyra.
Lyra has been very consistent all through .Should easily place.
Beauty on Duty , with the benefit of a run can WIN.
7.Sterling Speed , Feel My Heart , Zooming.
Bad race , winner spotting is difficult.

Mysore - First day
First day , difficult to pick horses on the basis of the performance in the earlier season as fitness ,current form and the intent of those concerned will decide the fate of the races @ the much maligned Mysore race club.
As always , do look for value bets as Favorites don't usually oblige.
1. Skip , most of the Horses are running over wrong distance.
at best , Roto Rooa is the only Horse which has WON in the recent past ,can be considered for each way.
2. It is between Royal Liason , Sterling Speed and Witch Doctor.
As always the One which is available at higher odds for each way.
3. Rich Rogue , True Force , Tina's Triumph.
Close call , Jockey merit will decide the Winner.
4. Time is Precious , Swiss Chocolate , Turbo Babe.
5.The World is Wine , War head , the Force.
A few good horses are out handicapped and a few more are ridden by mediocre jockeys.Hence options are limited.
The Force looks good for place.
War Head has failed as favorite , may do well here as it may not be fancied.
6. Hi Heineken , Black Knight , Mystic Enchantress.
Open affair.
7.Vertex , Princess Nero , Matter of Opinion.
The first two are relatively younger compared to the rest of the runners. that may help as Older horses may not be able to perform as per expectations.
8.King Adler , Spanish Crown , Amazon.
If the handicap is not an issue King Adler should have it easy.
