1 st September Pune races

It’s the usual Special Race day .With so many fancied runners obliging on Saturday , there is scope for Upsets on Sunday. 

1. Showers of Heaven , Ice Gate , Storm Lightning .

Class Vb race ,  no point going by previous known form . The form is displayed only for the racing public to ensure that they pick the Wrong Horse.

Three Roses will be fancied considering the fact that it is VB race and Trainer specializes in these races. However going by past records , it would be a Herculean task for it to Win.

Everready – rider is absolutely poor as has been noticed over past few race meets. He managed to Win a few races earlier only because Horse was Fit and Ready. The opposition was not prepared..

Showers of Heaven , last run was leading till the last furlong before being overwhelmed by the late finishers. A fair chance to place. Could upset. Rider is not in best of form.

Ice Gate , recent track works suggest horse would be in contention. A good jump is all that is required.

2. Set to Fly , Papakura .

Last run of STF is best ignored , no support absolutely at race time even for Place. Such being the case horse finished in the rucks. With jockey Jockey I.Pardesi declared , there is a fair chance. Place looks certain.

Aigaion – on pedigree and past performance surely frontline contender. First run this season and Low Odds are to be considered.

3. Turf Lightning / Dancing Pheonix .

All 5 horses were in action in race 57 Won by Ishpingo , 2 major differences being the distance and handicap reduction for a few horses. As speed is the essence of this race , I prefer Horses being ridden by apprentice jockeys.

Saints & Sinners has been Withdrawn

Anahi has not Won against genuine opposition except on one occasion. The 2 pathetic runs this season and presence of YSS are a pointer to its poor chances.

Dancing Pheonix – no doubt has age and handicap in favour. Rider is the issue. Jockey did very well during earlier part of the season. Has been seen faltering during past 2 race meetings.   His priorities are junk races in Delhi where he is forced to ensure horse does not even place. Once jockeys get into the rut , same continues across all centers. Jockeys like Kamlesh & Parmar were rotting in Kolkatta earlier . Have done exceeding well this season at Pune due to shift in priority.

4. Antonius Maximus , Savage Garden , Razneena.

Race # 74 holds the key. It is obvious that shift in riders & reduction in number of horses ( thereby free movement ) will definitely change pattern of results. 

Non Winners like Razneena and Oxbridge are best avoided . If they indeed Win this race , they can be followed next time. 

5. Ancient Warrior , Mid Night Run , Four Star General  .

4 Star General has been carrying lot of hype , not displayed its worth on tracks. Dismal record of trainer / low odds are all reasons to avoid this horse.

Ancient Warrior has clearly seen better class during Mumbai racing season. Recent tracks are noteworthy . Should place , can Win.

Midnight Run ran 3 rd to Yellow Zone , which is superior to the likes of 4 Star General. So a small chance to place. The only other horse with a chance is Just by Chance.

6. ( Weizhou , Ancient Wonder )  Star Trainer.

I expect the Winner from the above mentioned Jodi .

Master Bullet , Amadeus and Amazing Desire are there for the numbers. Trainer Faisal has 3 entries and with Weizhou & Ishpingo obliging earlier , I guess its time for him to  to display Winning form of Orito. However jockey declared to ride is known for winning VB races not class I race. Hence Orito also can be ignored.

Nefyn , sprinters cup Winner. The credit goes to the got abroad jockey who displayed fine judgement in last 2 starts. With NSP being given the baton , considering stiff handicap , difficult call to make.

Ancient Wonder has bangalore form to fall back on.  A fair chance since fitness and form is established.

Star Trainer can place at longer odds.

Weizhou though aged has shown good form this season. Has weights in favour and running ideal trip. .

7. ( One Kept Secret / Dior ) Caruso.

Preference is usually given to horses who have benefit of race run. Hence Deep Diver , Isadoro , Rekindle and War Horse are ignored due to lack of run / lack of quality saddle support.

Trisara , jockey ?? owners have the one more entry ridden by better jockey. Though trainer is poor. . Not sure who will be given the NOD.

Dior is making debut , tracks are decent ,  bloodlines impressive. As it is getting weight from fancied runners , there is scope for doing well. Can take chance for place due to longer odds..

One Kept Secret , though it beat nothing of note the manner of Winning was very impressive. Has credentials on bloodlines . Place looks very good. Can Upset.

Indian Touch – has to beat the ODDS.

8. Mon Ami , Bombardier , Sherlock Holmes .

Bombardier is seen first time in handicap race. Has raced with classy horses and hence will garner support. Can Win , no doubt on that count. I would ignore due to Low odds.

Fortune Hunter – has not Won since ages. Trainer is very mediocre , Non Performer.

Mon Ami –  the assumption is jockey will look the other way as cousin / uncle are on favorite. He also riding regularly for this Owner.  On merit a fair chance for Place.

S.Holmes has not seen class but has the most important weights in favour. A long lead can hassle fancied runners.

9.Seacaucus , Analeah , Fionaven.

A close call between these 3 horses. Trainer D.Pillai has not been seen in Winning  podium for Ages. Before he calls it a day . there is scope for a Win as horse was seen devouring ground on debut.

Analeah is making debut. Presence of Trainer in paddocks could indicate its chances.

Pune 31 st August

Hi all,

Card looks pretty bad due to predominance of races for horses in lower class. Analysis of races and my personal preferences are as follows ;

1.Speed Up , Golden Spurs , To the Moon.

Class Vb race , never know what to expect. Horses 2.5.8 have no chance to even place. Polar Zone is yet to Win a race. Winds of Change has not shown any form after stable change .Trainer and Jockey have had a very succcessful season till date.

Speed Up though aged and conceding weight has seen better days. Has a fair chance going by its previous effort against some younger and superior horses.

To the Moon , last run was decent. Could at best place.

Golden Spurs – though aged 9 has not been very far off from Winner . Jockey capability is a ??? no harm in considering for place due to high odds.

2. Adams Spirit , Pepe Senior , Monetray.

Adams Spirit lost at the post in previous start , the handicap was stiff . Seen here on promotion and hence facing facing superior horses . Yet should do well as it is younger horse with scope for improvement .

Monteray was seen finishing on well in previous start over 1200. If it can last the distance , a fair chance to place at longer odds.

Oriental Masti will find this bunch tough to tackle. Looks difficult for place too.

Pepe Senior and Indiscrete are contenders for place. The former preferred due to handicap ,experience and odds.

3.Earth Tamer , Always Smile , Prince Arius.

Another class Vb race where Trainer Antia holds the key. Miracle of Mercy last run was absolutely pathetic. Facing relatively very inferior horses in this race , may place.

Earth Tamer is well bred & has scope to improve , preference can be given as it faces older horses.

4.Gran Amigo , Aurnia , Shockalot.

My Freedom is being tried over unsuitable sprint distance , though it is bred to stay .As field is very poor here , may place. Odds will be low for comfort.

Gran Amigo did well on debut , 4 th to speedy Way Out. Has a fair chance here. If intent is visible worth taking a chance.

Aurnia , has stripped fitter after a couple of runs with work jockeys . Is now entrusted to N.Jodha  who himself is not very often sighted on Winners. On merit , should place.

Shockalot , well bred , first 2 runs this season can be ignored as leap year jockey A.J.Nilesh was doing duty. Has a chance to place.

   
5.Domian Anna , Titleist , Star Zone.

Most of the fancied horses were seen in Free Verse race. There is ample scope for reversal of order. The luck of the draw was a major factor in previous race.

Mumbai King  , trainer yet to Win a race ,  ridden by Trevor whose handling these days is very poor.

Celsius has the handicap to tackle. Being one paced , allowance jockey would have helped its cause.

6. Champakali , Cream of the Crop , Bourbon Street.

Highly competitive race. Given a chance one can shortlist 8 horses. Certain horses have merit but ignored due to distance suitability and jockey declared to ride.

Panthera , King Julien , Stormy Princess , Petite Fluer , Remember Me , Jewels of the Hill , Ice Empire . First 4 named horses lose out due to lack of quality saddle assistance.

Edwina has often been tried over 1000 metres. Met the Speedy PIT Bull in its previous start. The Subsequent Win of PB in higher class does lends credence to its merit . I have ignored due to lack of tracks and its previous form over this distance.

QPQ was full of running over 1000 metres , race Won by Dreamliner. Very unreliable jockey. Win looks difficult , place wont pay much and that would be a risky bet.

The short listed horses may not be the best , previous runs were very impressive and hence I feel they could do well here too. Hopefully 2 of them could place at decent odds.

7.Hawker , To the Manor Born

Horses 4.5.6 have no chance to Win or Place.

Amistad was an impressive Winner in last start , carrying top weight . The field was quite mediocre. The trainer opting  to race in class 4 , indicates that he is not very sure of its class. Good luck.

Hawker is relatively inexperienced. Ran with much superior bunch , was outclassed as the horse could not keep pace in initial stages. Based  on breeding and the opposition here, gets first preference.

To the Manor Born is a class 3 winner at Blr , the benefit of weights did the trick.

  

8. Haunting Moments , IBIS , Ice Beauty .

Another VB race. This time over the mile. Half the field consists of horses who would attempt this distance for the first time. Hence capability is a ?? on most of them as bloodlines are suspect over Mile.

The first named seems to be the best of the lot. Not sure why it is here in lowest class. Could be shortest price favorite in the race card,

30 th August Mysore Q & A

Hi all,

All these days I have made an effort to list my preferences. For a change I thought it appropriate for viewers to Pick the Preferences based on critical comments. Not a very taxing matter to do as it is very SIMPLE task since it is  MySore races. By the end of the day , each one of you can take credit for Picking the Winner.

 

1. …...

As Mys based horses are usually Ignored , options are readily available to every punter . No rocket science involved.  Place odds will be less than Rs 15 on all blr based horses , Win odds on favorite will be negligible. I guess the best option is to skip this race. Those who still wish to earn 30 % return on investment can try their luck and pray that there are no Mishaps as there could be a twist in the race  , 1 mys based horse could Place.

2. ,,,,,.

By now it must be easy to figure out that ONLY 3 year old’s from bangalore have realistic chance of finishing in top 3 . No special handicapping required to locate the main contenders and the probable Winner.

I guess the payouts will be dismal here too.  Hence no point in taking names.

3. ,,,,,,

There are 5 contenders ( 4.5.7.8.11) the rest are ALL pretenders. From these 5 , it is easy to conclude that 4 and 11 can only place. Rest 3 are worthy of finishing in top 2.

4.,,,,.

Winning picking has never been so simple and stress free. Is there a need to take names ??

As far as options for place are concerned , my guess is Mr Carpe , Star Struck , Azure Fire , Mom In law and Affirmative are the ones which could place ahead of rest 5 in the fray.

3 mys based horses , One all India participant , rest 4 are from blr. For clarity it is fair to ignore Older , ie 7 &  8 year old horses.  So it does seem that One Mys based horse could finish in top 3.  Rest 2 would go to fancied duo. Any further clues required ??

Horses 6.7.9.10.11 on merit have earned Tag No Hopers aka hopeless. 

Horse no 4 is mys based from debut. Logically rating will not match with blr based runners. Rest 5 are contenders by default. The horse stationed in Mys Orient Glory can finish 3^rd at best . So it boils down to Horses 1.2.5.8.

7. ,,,,

My instinct says horses 4.5.8.9.10 have Fair credentials.  Of these  3 are ridden by apprentice jockeys who can be relied upon to do well. Rest 2 will take instructions from You know Who ?? As value bets are the norm , I tend to ignore Fancied DUO.

I don’t expect horses 2.5.7.8 to finish ahead of rest 4 horses

The Queen’s Color will be prominent at race time . Fellow 6 year old can  pose a threat

Mysore 29 th August races

Comments / Choices are as follows ;
 

1. Manta Ray , Himavari , Sweet November 

As usual Bangalore based 3 year old horses in the fray will garner support due to inherent superiority . 

Cinch is making debut , just 2 tracks , making VERY late debut , hence I feel it has least chance to Win.

Manta Ray was seen finishing on well in its previous attempt in blr. Should place easily , capable of Winning.

Himavari , tidy handicap coupled with Positive saddle support . Has credentials to Win. Race time odds will give a pointer on its chances.

Mark and YoureScintilating have done nothing till date to warrant a bet.

Amongst the mys based horses , Sweet November is extensively tracked , could place at longer odds if outstation contenders are found lacking.

2. One from a Billion , Fire Light ,  Bella Pinky. 

On relative merit , as seen in ratings Fire Light is the best . However past few runs have been quite poor mainly on account of trainer’s absence. Is now pitted against some lowly rated horses . Not worthy of Win bet at Mys  as last minute adjustments are the norm .

Bella Pinky is speedy , no 2 runs are similar. Should place.

One from a Billion had Won a race in recently concluded blr racing season. Is getting weight from fancied runners.  Trainer’s engagements during the day suggests he may not be serious . Hoping this is the exception.  The fancied runner is being ridden by his son . Hence a ?? on intent.

Lady Mandy has bad gate manners. A good jump will ensure a place in top 2. However as bets are not accepted after starters orders are given , best avoided. Dance with me is running over right distance. Rider is not the best , may place at longer odds .

3. Midnight Legacy , Golden Princess , Rocket Roonie.

The blr based horses competing have no noteworthy credentials. Hence there is scope for a couple of Mys based horses to do well.

Midnight Legacy was stationed in Blr last year. Had Won a terms race at blr. As it has suffered a setback , shifted to less competitive center. Recent tracks are decent. Jockey merit , odds and race time pointers will help in decision making.

Golden Princess , on pedigree the best , previous run was backward over 1600 metres. May be on account of bad Tracks  Competition here is modest can strike due to presence of leading saddle artist A Sandesh.

Rocket Roonie had a decent  run recently , 5 th  to Kentucky Rose ,  has weights in favour.

Bandito has weights and trainers record to tackle. Union Jack has seen better days , trainer back after a suspension for substance abuse. Point Taken is not genuine as seen in past few runs.

4. Happiness , All for Cash , Formidable .

Race for Mys based horses , scope for some decent payouts.

Happiness was given a poor ride in its previous start over 1400. Was seen finishing on well over 1200.  Over extended distance and better jockey has a very good chance to deliver.

All for Cash , has been pretty consistent , penalized for its Win in regular season. Can place.

April Showers , Formidable and Seriously Perfect are contenders for place.

Yamas does not impress , last Win was a Gift . Is conceding weight.

 5.Ace Buchephalus , Southern Regime , Charlatan.

Mysore Million

8 horses in the fray. Stake money available for first 6 placed horses. 3 late entries from blr to encash whatever is available as 2 local horses are expected to finish 7 th and 8 th.

2 horses have raced in classics , first 3 horses in fray are ahead of the rest . 

Valerian Won on debut , subsequent runs have been disappointing. Has not seen class till date , losing to likes of Paras Mani. Hence no chance to even place unless 3 horses are withdrawn .

Southern Emperor is a Maiden , but for equipment change nothing changes the equation.

Mickey Mouse is fantastically bred. Was a Winner at blr. Has services of ace jockey. Could at best place due to pull in weights. Late entrant.

Charlatan is not very active on tracks , the limited tracks are okay , runs over ideal trip . A fair chance for this late entry .

Ace Buchephalus , has been very consistent since making debut. Has not had the best of saddle support. Is always seen finishing on , well after the Winner is sighted. Trainer has worked the horse extensively , 14 times in past 25 days. Is it to strip it Fitter or making it UNFIT will be known after the race. On past records , a leading contender.

Southern Regime , did very well in latter part of the blr season picking 2 races. Has not raced with classic horses but well bred to create an impression. Has quality saddle support , late entry for this Million race.

6.Radical Attraction , Sand Storm , Cool Approach.

Last run of SS is best ignored as trainer was under suspension . Preparation went for a toss. At this handicap , certain for Place. Can Win.

Sussex Downs , was lucky to finish 2 nd in last start to Appolo King due to 2 non jobbers. Looks difficult here.

Radical Attraction , was fancied to Win the race in which Deep Blue Sky shocked punters. Having raced with the likes of Panamera , Hillfiger , Mountain Range , surely is better then the likes of Deep Blue Sky.  Jockey did his bit as he did not attempt to make his move until the race was as good as over. Looks better placed here , could make amends for previous failure.

Cool Approach , a winner in last start at this course. Cant be ignored for minor places.

Apple Jack , not here.

7. Meghalaya , Fantastic Strike , Happy Victory .

On paper Meghalaya has nothing to beat. Is always fancied but finds a way to lose. Top weight filly conceding weight low odds , not ideal wager.

None of the other blr horses in the fray impress due to lack of consistency.

Mys based horses have no credentials to even finish 5 th in this race.

F.Strike , Happy Victory and O.Love are the likely threats to fancied runner.

8. Cool Nature , Natural View , Kolaveri Di.

Bad race , none of the runners deserve to be favorite for various reasons. Obviously there will be a Winner , hoping it is one of these 3.

Only 2 races ( 4 & 7 ) have 3 payouts at major race centres.Rest 5 races only 2 place payments .Hence look for value options.

1. Hot Iron , Arisen Star.

2. Jamaican, Lady Ship.

3. Valerosa , Moonlight Sky.

4. Copernicus , Apical Finala.

5. Super Hero , Royal Honour.

6. Star Empire , Dear Henry.

7. Stiling Veil , Rembrandt.

26 th August hyd Races

Choices / comments are as follows -

1. ( Ein Ein Ein , Mystical Star ) Squanderers Square.

Past off springs of The Juke Box has been money spinners for Owners.High profile owners have reposed their trust in trainer Prasad Raju . On track work / pedigree , a fair chance for M.Star. The jockey is for the odds or for giving a run is to be seen.

RiverDale  running often over varying distances. Difficult to consider for win as distance seems sharp for comfort.

EEE did well in winter. Recent tracks are promising. Can Win if race time pointers are Positive.

2. Greek Star , Kohinoor Thunder.

But for its maiden victory , Sherman Oaks has disappointed , though it raced with superior horses at blr / malakpet . May start as On money favorite , since SN is the rider. At odds on offer , one may as well skip. Win is not a certainty.

3. Kallu Mama , San Ramon , Symbol of Victory.

Kallu Mama is the youngest and bred to stay the trip. The best jockey is on duty.  Has the weights in favour. Should Win barring any interference.

San Ramon has equipment change / bred to stay. Rider capability is a ??? to me as I haven't followed Hyd races keenly this season. However as many repaired horses are in fray , a decent ride can fetch  good payouts.

The Challenge is rated 51 , has won thrice this year , beating horses rated below 50. Basically a class 4 or 3 horses.. Prior to that innumerable failures in lower c lass. Now facing younger horses which hare rated Higher on account of running against Quality opposition. Logically no chance to Win. Stranger things have happened on tracks.

4. Naughty Gal , Aegis.

CBC lost despite having an edge in the last furlong in previous start.  May be tired by now , facing younger opponents. The handicap is stiff. Cant see it Winning the race.

Naught Gal is short of class but has weights in favour. A fair 2 nd in last start has scope to Win here.

Aegis has better rider and should finish ahead of CBC. Ocean Side does not impress here.

5. Elegant Approach , Marquise ,  Garibaldi.

A close finish is expected , often the case in 1000 metre races.   Horses 1.4.8.9.10 have no chance to even place. Hence options are pretty much limited.

6. Ceremonius , Camacho Speed , Transition.

Hopeful that 2/3 would place.  Merry Maid is a class 4 horse , seen here on promotion. Facing many speedy younger horses. Looks highly doubtful for Win. May at best place.

7.Rock Heights ,Kohinoor Desire , Musical Note.

Horses in form this season have an edge over rest. There is no scope for any upset in this race as most runners have negative equipment change / ridden by work jockeys,

8. Dandelion , Promotion , Princely Right.

Dandelion will be lowest priced horse for the day. Should be less than 60/100 going by its past performance. Not worth considering a wager at such low odds.

Promotion could place at longer odds.

9. Power Planet , Rocking Racer , Fairy Boy.

Coral Springs may fund the bookies if fancied.  

Power Planet and Rocking Racer have done well in recent past . Both should place , one of them could win.

Pune Special races Sunday

Hi all,

Analysis and personal preferences for the day are as follows -

1. Dark Knight , Tanusha , Lucky Red

Could go any which way. Though designated as Class IV race , going by poor form of most runners as good as class VB race. A couple of 4 year old's are making debut. Shows how poor the runners are , in these races , the only way to shortlist contenders is look for trainer's record . The top names rarely win these types of races.   

2.Fleetwood Mac , Domingo.

Circle of Life will start as favorite. Not sure if it can Win 1 st run at pune. Preference can be given to horses with benefit of race run.  

Indication is coming from non reliable stable.

Fleetwood Mac 1400 would have been ideal going by pedigree , can upset .

3.Adams Prince , Ashwa Yodhaa , Blue Knight.

class Vb race , but for Carpe Diem anyone else can Win. Perfect Strenght is not consistent. Adams Prince can do well if not tired. This being 4 th run this season. Blue Knight failed miserably ( on expected lines ) when junk jockey was asked to do duty. Rathod is better than Neeraj Rawal.

4.Mint Approach  , Hail The King , Dreams R Mine..

First named has sound credentials having Won in both starts. On merit it has no opposition but considering Jockey capability and Odds , there is scope for it to Lose. Jockey was hopeless on saturday. Dallas Todywala favorites are best avoided .

Dreams R Mine and Hail the King are the only horses capable of putting up a fight.

Hail the King has the weights in favour , though last run was pretty bad , current tracks are decent. Worth taking a chance. 

5.Sansani , Oriental Rocky , Intesar.

Race for maidens . Debutants don't stand a chance to succeed.

Intesar has seen better days , may need a slightly longer distance to perform. Trainer rarely obliges on fancied runners. 

Hence the other 2 are worth considering. Jockey on Oriental Rocky is a ??? 

Sansani , trainer yet to open account , many fancied runners from this stable failed .

6.Panamera , Neona ,Neath.

Capability to last the distance & weights allotted will have a bearing on result. A couple of horses can do well at Level weights , but lose out due to handicap. Horses 4.5.8 have least chance and Maple Star cant be considered due to weight / odds.

Rest are all capable of doing well . The jockey on Panamera is mediocre , fit to ride in mysore only. However as handicap and odds would be in favour worth taking a chance.

Neath is a outright stayer and comes into contention due to distance and handicap suitability.

Neona , can stay the trip as Pune course is not very taxing. Has seen better class compared to rest.  

7.Visionist , Pit Bull , Jimbo.

Horses 1.5.7.9.10 have least chance to Win / Place. 

Choice of Rider on Shararaat indicates non jobber.  Could at best place.

Catharis is running a  bit soon  for comfort.

Pit Bill is speedy and is in form having Won recently in lower class. As it has good initial speed , there is a fair chance.

Jimbo in and out running. If race time pointers are positive , then it could place.

Visionist has been hiding true form for long time. Choice of riders lead to its defeat on several occasions. Should place EASILY. Can upset.

8.Mykonos , Arch Duchess , Scarlet of Hope.

Race is pretty much limited to 1 st 2 named horses. As former is not bettable due to odds , value bets are the norm.

9.Strategy , Erotic Flame , Star Gazing

Mahiki lost to Gangnam Style. The opposition it faced in that race was relatively poor. Based on that run , place also looks difficult here. 

Strategy is speedy and if Trainer has Won a race earlier , worth considering else skip.

Erotic Flame and Star Gazing are capable of doing well .

As everyone is aware , during this Mysore season , bangalore based horses tend to Win majority  races.  Mys based horses are not competent to beat outstation challengers. The exclusive races framed for Mysore races is their only hope. As 4-5 horses from blr will be in action in  most races , options are pretty limited .

First 2 races are in class VB , which are best avoided. As always Ignore On money Horses and look for value options.

18 th august Pune races

Pedestrian card going by lack of competitive entries. Choices for the day are as follows ;

1.Romantic Beauty , Bonobo.

Preference for Horses which have Won a race.  Former is tracked recently and can Win.

Always There  , 3 year old in the fray. Run may be a bit soon for comfort. Trainer has Won  has Won 7/8 aces in class VB. A record difficult to beat in near future. 

2.Falco Nero , Supreme Minstrel.

Appalachia Won on debut when least expected. Is Facing superior horses here. Did run prominently in Mountbatten race earlier this season. May at best finish 2 nd.

Falco Nero was impressive while clearing maiden ranks. Has scope to repeat. 

Nush , first run this season , coming from non performing stables.

   

3.Caesars Star , Hidden Goodness.

First run after being gelded. Yet has a fair chance based on earlier record.

Hidden Goodness , horse in form , cant be ignored for whatever reasons.

Commander - mumbai runs were very backward. May need to strip fitter

4.La Traviata , Rio , Vaile Rouge.

Rio has the handicap to tackle. Though a winner recently , the horses it beat over 1000 metres were not the best .

La Traviata lost out due to poor tracks and wide draw, On previous known form has nothing to beat here. 

5.Sword of Honour , Jeremiah.

Not the ideal race to wager.Hype Vs Form .No point considering Jeremiah at LOW odds.
 
6.Ainra , Ace Angelfire , Storm Lightning.

Ace Angel Fire is definitely the superior horse. Rider is not the best to handle a 3 year old.

Ainra was lucky to pick a race when on money favorite was withdrawn at gates. As field consists of several repair cases / poor riders, has credentials to repeat.

7.( Wasabi , Fontanelle )  Forest  Vision.

Should be strictly between the JODI . May the best horse Win.  

8.Oriental Masti , Polar Zone , Gibran.

Class Vb race,expect the Unexpected. Polar Zone looks very good for place. Oriental Masti , rider is not very reliable on favorites.

9.Starring , Desert Wings , Matrioshka.

Over this distance , these 3 appeal. Starring has failed many a time . Change in tracks could help its cause.

Desert Wings was impressive Winner in terms race. Should place.

Matrioshka has equipment and rider change. Place looks certain. One last chance to make amends ??

kolkatta Saturday races

1. Tough One , Piaffe , Sreeyantra.

Speedy Tough One has a good chance to succeed. Rider capability and odds to be factored.

Piafee has seen better days , should place easily.

2. Devil in Disguise , Sheriff.

Limited options. Youngsters potential over distance is a ??

3. Iconic , Angels Quest , Alicante.

Based on its known form Iconic seems the best in this field.

Angels Quest is speedy and is the only threat to fancied runner.

4. Snow Mountain , Head Hunter.

Both these horses are in with a chance.  The former has the handicap in favour. The latter has raced with quality 3 year old's .

Kuan Yin beat nothing of note. Looks difficult for even place in this competitive race.

5. Multi Magic ,  Chala Ja Bachha.

MM is speedy and has a fair chance.

CJB Won recently with work jockey. On pedigree and jockey capability can Upset.

CC does not impress over this distance .

6. Sreedhan could place.

7. Snow Ball , Divine Symphony ,  Bengal King.

Highly competitive race. Hoping that 2/3 do well at decent odds.

16 th August blr races

Last day of BSM 2013. Track conditions may not be ideal due to rains over past 2 days.

Short listed horses In order of Preference are as follows –

15 th August Pune Races

Hi all ,

Race day choices are as follows ;  

1.( Viva Zapata ,  Adams Prince )

Class VB race , all 4 could have participated in class 4 race for horses rated 20 to 46. One Trainer who has repair cases exclusively competes against Trainer’s who ruin good horses for narrow ends. The latter make horses run 10 times per season , reduce ratings then Strike if the odds are right.  The former rescues horses which are about to be put down or shifted to non racing activities.

These races are best avoided , particularly fancied runners as strike rate is 10 % for favorites in class VB races.

2, Colorful Prince , Silsila , Ultra Sonic.

Trainer Dallas Todywala has some decent runners participating unlike previous 2 race days. So one can expect horses to at least place if not WIN. Due to run benefit these 2 horses are capable of doing well.

Bombardier needs more distance , Rewarding Desire is from same stable. Hence intent may be lacking.  Ultrasonic is speedy but did not show any form in its previous run. Horse lost its way in the odds , familiar with IA Sait stables. Recent tracks are encouraging. Can hope for finish 2 nd .

3.Papakura , Rodeo.

Strategic Change is seen after long break , choice of rider , equipment and preparation are all Negative.

Corgito Ergo Sum can do well only if other jockeys decide to please the Owner of the horse and take back seat. On merit does not stand much of a chance..

Mountbatten is coming from class 4. Meeting seasoned class 3 horses. Looks difficult .

Rodeo – has been pretty consistent over longer distances. Deserves a chance here.

Swift Memories – I see no reason for Y S Srinath to go all the way to Pune when other jockeys do duty for Shapoor Mistry. His pathetic form during bangalore races is to be seen to be believed.

Papakura finished a decent 2 nd over mile trip to Winston. Though this is 1 st  run over 1800 , worth taking a chance due to Age & form factor.

Strange are ways of book makers. A couple of weeks ago Mountbatten was liberally offered at 7 to 1 in class III race. Though it had won a couple of races earlier in Mumbai , the bookmakers felt it stood no chance against JODI Horses.

Sun Salutation horse which had not Won a race yet was quoted at 2.75 & Appalachia , winner on debut at 40 to 1 was favorite at 2.50.

Coming to the races today , I find Mountbatten the overwhelming favorite at 1.50 ( night odds ) though it is seeing a quantum jump in class. The horses it is facing are no pushovers. All of them have given a good account in last  5 - 6 runs against superior horses.

By stating that Mountbatten is favorite , the bookies are conveying the message that Honest Pleasure , Sun Salutation and Appalachia are in the same league as Papakura , Rodeo and Swift Memories.

Today's race has older horses in comparison and Mountbatten may PULL IT OFF .If merit / superiority is indeed the criteria for Odds , why did they offer such liberal odds earlier in race 51. Do they want to repent for not making Mountbatten Favorite last time thereby denying punters playing favorites their Due.

This is just to highlight WHY bookies are always flourishing . They were perfect in  offering juicy Odds & Trapping punters  ( in earlier race won by Mountbatten , by listing false favorites )

4. Zoravar , Invincible ,  She’s Sweet.

Act of War is a non winner. Gates of Heaven has won once in 11 starts. Has failed to meet expectations , cant be backed with confidence for EVEN place when riders like Akshay are riding.

Zoravar was a fair 2 nd to speedy and classy  Yellow Zone. The colt has raced with some quality 3 year olds in recent past , hence gets First Preference .

She’s Sweet , well in at the weights , benefit of a run may enable a place spot.

Invincible – worth taking a e/w chance as tracks are forward.

5. Ghanghorr , Youre the Boss , Negotiator.

Race for 3 year old maidens. Horses 2.5.7 have least chances . Can be ignored for even place.

Archimedes finished 3 rd on debut to stable mate. Field comprised of many mediocre horses , many non jobbers could be identified based on jockeys declared. Though well bred , chances of Win are bleak due to lack of run in Pune and choice of rider.

Youre the Boss , 3 rd run this season. Has credentials to place. Can upset.

Negotiator – the best bred in the field , first 2 runs were pretty decent. Last run in Shapoorji Pallonji Colts was very poor. 

Ghanghorr , 2 nd to Desert Wings over 1400 in previous start. Tracks are very impressive. Should be the horse to beat.

6. Antonius Maximus / Chicharato , Zambezi

18 runners. 10 non jobbers , horses 1.2.5.7.9.11.15.16.17.18

Lets hope for the best .  In all probability OXBRIDGE may not even place.

7. Patriotic , Three Roses , Negredo.

Class 4 race , dominated by 3 & 4 year olds. Some horses have not shown any sparkle since debut . A few more raced with superior opposition but could not do much.

Brindaban , has health issues , is mentioned in Vet report , long absence from race tracks.not going to be easy though 2 classes superior to the field if seen on Merit.

Arusha – best on breeding , sadly pathetic performances since debut  , obvious something is wrong.

Horses with run benefit / handicap advantage have a better chance to succeed.

8. In the Limelight , Awesome Smile , King Julien.

Destined to Glory had only 2 runs in Mumbai. Seen after a long break , conceding weight to entire field.

Gararo looks doubtful at this handicap and over this distance.

Hopeful that Winner could come from these 3 horses.

Poor race card , Hyd is known for staging 8-9 races with an average of 9-10 horses per race. This season the race card has been lacklustre. With practically no opposition in many races , payouts are dismal. 

My picks for the day -

1. Sweet Candy for Place as Baazigar will run at low odds.

2. Deal Maker & Star Wings - Both are capable of doing well.

3. Strides of Glory - a small e/w chance.Horses 1 &  2  horses are linked , 3 to 6 are from same connections , the lone ranger is 7. As there are only 2 payouts , difficult call to make. If race time pointers are negative then skip . Sheer Genius has credentials to WIN.

4. Symbol of Victory - e/w , only 2 payouts here also.

5. Star Striker - e/w - horse can do well despite the penalty .Relative handicap and presence of hard rider PSC on Novaya Zemyla does give horse a small edge. He has had too many Winners on Sunday. Hence i prefer to ignore his mounts. Rank outsider would be Amber Flame.

6.Arudra & Sabreen Princess look better than the rest. 

7. Maths Professor is the prime contender for Top Spot. Worth a bet if Odds are decent.

Go for Gold has credentials to place.
