Selections for Day 1 of Invitation week end. As always Ignore OnMoney Favorites Listed below.

1.Rewarding , Secret Romance , Charlie Cool.

Class 4 race , recent imports from western india should have a decisive say in the finish. Rewarding did win once with S.Mosin astride. Not sure why this was relocated to kolkata , repair or competition stiff in Mumbai ? If Fit has fair credentials to WIN.

Charlie Cool is known for its good initial speed. Jockey I.Chisty has a glittering record in Kolkata. However i would avoid a Win bet due to his dubious record across other centres.

Secret Romance and Flying Boy are bred well by kolkata standards  and one of them should place.
  
2. Vijay Monarch , Aerator 

Araceli and Stupid Cupid are not class I horses as reflected in rating. It would be a miracle if they WIN.

Amongst the others in the fray , Su Chaliyo is not Virat to Win a race carrying heavy Impost. If jockey weight is taken into account , the additional of 15 kgs burden looks very very stiff.

Silverina Won a classic , subsequently disqualified for failing DOPE test. May or may not , depends on the Feed for the day.

Razmaden last won a race beating Alteris and Grand Design  both of whom would struggle in class 3.

The rest 2 come into contention by default . Vijay Monarch has been discarded by hyderabad based owners after Monsoon Season , hopefully it is not on account of Fitness Issues. Has a good chance to oblige.
  
3.Trust in me , Al Di La , Ocean Clipper.

Presence of many work jockeys leaves us with Limited options. On jockey capabilities these 3 appeal . 

4.Araneda , Zoffany , Voyager.

Horses which have NOT Won since debut , horses with bad gate manners and those who are not known to do well over 1400 are IGNORED.

Voyager has obviously seen better days. First run in these tracks , may start as favorite. Hence avoidable. On merit the best chance due to low quality of local horses.
 
5. Ocean Sunrise , Iconic , Amika.

large field , difficult to pick the best . Hopeful that 2/3 place at least.

M Dwyer and D Allan are listed to ride , their recent form has been quite pathetic. Hence ignored.

6.Astapi , Star Marquess , Camorra.

Drop of Honey is yet to Win a class I race. Horse was struggling for past 3 seasons in class 2. A Win over out of form horses in Stayers Trial Stakes at Bangalore does not make it a Classic Horse. 

Astapi has age , class , jockey merit on its side. Has the best credentials to WIN.

Native Knight undoubtedly is a True stayer. Meeting younger opponents here.Not to forget its 3 previous wins were a Farce. Only 2/3/4 horses participated , quality was pretty mediocre.

None of the others appeal , as ratings and weights are not balanced. Experienced horses may place / upset.

7.Cristoffe , Shaktiroop , Adabella.

Race for the younger horses , those who could Win a few classics in near future. Two outstation challengers are in the fray and face the best of the Local lot.

Cristoffe , after winning on debut lost Twice at Malakpet to Decathlon. Considering the superiority of the latter a fair chance to oblige here.

Captain Courageous is conceding weight , a fast paced race would ruin its chances for even Place.

Shaktiroop may have finished behind a few horses in the fray in earlier outings. Can hope to reverse the standings.

8. ( Speed Six , Sunday Storm ) Secret Punch.
  
In all probability ,the following horses will finish at the bottom.

1.Master bullet. 2.Bullet 3.Arrow in Auto Mode 4.River star 5.Crown rule
6.Successor 7.Klipspringer
 
If bookies are liberal , odds will be above 60 to 1 for win and 10 to 1 place for Delhi and Kolkata challengers. That sums up its chances for win / place. 

The genuine horses in the fray would be -
 

1.Bulls Eye is record holder over 1000 metres in Mumbai. Last outing it beat the likes of Jimbo Borderline etc. Surely not the types you would expect to Win the Invitation . Has not seen CLASS I company since debut. That could prove to be its undoing.
 

2.Nefyn is sparingly raced , has fitness issues. In the recent victory the acceleration displayed was tremendous. Was languishing at the tail end of the field , came with a short burst after the bend and the race was Over. Surely it is front line contender Despite its AGE.


3.Shivailk Star's last run was too very bad , though distance is different here , the fact that trainer is opting for various distances displays poor judgement .Hence i dont expect it to finish in top 4.
 
4.Sunday Storm , has done well in Bangalore prior to shifting to Kolkata to do pace work along with In the Spotlight. Is a known front runner and if exploited well could be the dark horse in the fray.


5.Speed Six was a classic contender , last run was terrific. Ideal distance would be 1400 but when facing a modest field can do well over 1200 also.


6.Kohinoor Wish - consistent performer at malakpet. Distance does look sharp for comfort. On sheer class and for having done very well at its home centre , can hope to place


7.Secret Punch - not won for ages ?? was fancied in its previous run , Could not deliver. Capability is there. May at best place
 
To me Winner could arise from - Nefyn or Speed Six.
Place contenders - Sunday Storm and Kohinoor Wish

9.Enchanted Forest , Gluteus Maximus  , Smart Hunter. 

may the best horse WIN. Smart Hunter has improved a lot since shifting stables. Enchanted Forest is a Winner in last outing. Glutues Maximus is rank outsider.

Mumbai 27/02

Nice compact card. Small time trainers are expected to be in the limelight ahead of week end Invitation races. Here are my preferences -


1. New World , Honest Pleasure.

As Cypress Point will finish in bottom 2 , the options are limited. Monet finished 3 rd in class IV , is on promotion hence ignored.

New World after 2 impressive runs in race 143 and 182 would start as On Money favorite. Could Win but not sure of the Odds justify a bet.

Honest Pleasure can hope to place.

2. Alecto , Pepe Senior , Capri.

Handicap race for maidens in class IV. Mateus Rose has a fair chance  has weights and odds to tackle.

Alecto has seen far better days , is tracking very well. Should place , can WIN. Jockey merit and ODDS are the only matters to be factored.

Capri has shifted stables , may place at Longer odds.

Pepe Junior is the upset if any .

3.My Freedom , Dominigo

Negotiator is failed favorite , presence of My Freedom and choice of stable retainer on the latter raises ??? on intent.

Domingo is well bred and has services of a decent rider. The upset if any.

4. Kalinga Star , Pumba , Money for Nothing.

Class VB race , Blue Knight is undoubtedly the best , not many would invest on this rider.

Kalinga Star is bred to stay , last few runs over shorter distance .Should place here going by the quality of field and choice of jockeys. Can Win.

Pumba - has been seen finishing on well in earlier outings.Massive shift in jockey merit. 

Money for Nothing - last run was impressive.Can upset.

5.Burgandy Rose , Sariska , Erotic Flame.

There are no visible tracks of the first named. Has seen far superior horses in Pune . If fit , can WIN.

With a few non performers in the fray , options are limited.

Sariska has the weights in favor and is being ridden by the only promising apprentice jockey with 3.5 kgs allowance. Should easily place. Can Win if B.Rose is not upto the task.

6.Kismat , Matrioshka , Brave Fighter.

Amitayus has failed innumerable times. Cant be backed with confidence for even place.

Kismat shed its maiden status in style in race 186. Can repeat.

Matrioshka - last 2 runs did not seem genuine. The handicap is attractive here. Trainer Abbas is expected to pick a couple of winners.On merit should place. 

Miracle of Mercy and Purple Mokara - one of them could place .

Brave Fighter - has changed ownership and stables.Has run with superior horses in Pune. On that count , has credentials to place.

7.Autumn Rush , Fortuner , Hill Ranger,San Rafeal.

Dash for cash race , several contenders in the fray . Hopefully 2/4 runners should place and one of them could WIN.

PBM Million race day

Hi all ,

analysis of the races and personal preferences are as follows -

1.Tropical Zone , Athos , Spring Bank.

The usual class Vb race to start off the day’s proceedings. As always these races are best avoided . But for those who wish to take a chance , these 3 are looking the best on merit.

2. Borderline , Winter Wind.

Strings of My heart did well in pune where it could easily run start to finish . Mumbai tracks are not suited , hence difficult to WIN. This is the 2 nd run this season ?

Jimbo may have finished 2 nd to Bulls Eye , subsequent run was pathetic.Meeting quality field.

Borderline did all the running before being overwhelmed by Bulls Eye. With no outstanding runner in the fray Gets first preference as it is well placed on the scales.

Winter Wind has been a non performer in Mumbai. May place.

3. Soneeyo , Fortune Hunter , Winston.

Papakura is conceding weight all around. Hence ignored though the horse has been pretty consistent.

Fortune Hunter gets a fair chance over Mile trip. Does well over longer trips.

Smooth Operator and Jewels of the Hill may be out of depth against quality field.

Winston after 2 losses , made amends , winning at low handicap. Is capable of doing well . Choice of rider is a ??

Soneeyo  - 4 th to Winston over 1400. The mile trip is ideally suited and hence place is looking good. Though facing younger horses one cant ignore its chances on pure handicap.

Que Sera Sera – last run was indeed poor. Rider is not the best.

4. Spirit of Mercy , Hachiko.

Blue Ace is on a Winning spree. Facing genuine class I field here , not going to be easy.

Spirit of Mercy is a known front runner. Facing younger opponents , a tough task . A chance bet as Odds would be in favour.

Hachiko – last run was absolutely poor. Trainer tried it over 1200 ?? Is better placed on handicap than Blue Ace . The latter is in form unlike Hachiko. Bet is for the jockey declared to ride.

Déjà vu – 1200 seems to be ideal trip. Horse has been impressive in last runs , staying capability over 1400 is a ??

5. Antonius Maximus , ( withdrawn ) Savage Garden , Razeena .

Bad race , those who have the ability to last the trip and run consistently get the NOD.    Sophisticated is outhandicapped . Roswald has not performed till date. Cant be backed with confidence. Dancing Splendour and Danse Debonaire are just about completing the formalities.

6. Feature event the PBM multi million

Horses with NIL credentials – Falcon , Murioi , Presence , Rewarding Desire , Ace of Heart , Super Start .

Horses which may struggle due to Jockey / Draw factor – Albertino , Hail the King , Scenic Warrior.

Leaving us with balance 8 runners.

Dancing Pheonix – Won a race last week. This run is coming a bit too soon and would test its capabilities.

Dancing Prances – Well rested , well bred. Has a fair chance. Not outstanding enough to Win , can place.

Emperor of France – beat nothing of note on debut , but a WINNER. Has a decent jockey. May at best place.

Gerome – last run to be ignored as it was conceding weight to other runners. Has a fair chance.

Presidential – was the best of the losing lot when  Trance. Over extended distance has a good chance to Place. Can WIN , presence of winners don’t matter much as all are equally handicapped.

Mariinsky – both its victories were a treat to watch. Facing quality company.  Rider does not have much success in Graded races. Can place , not sure if it can WIN.

Senora Bella – Horse is endowed with speed and stamina. Issue is draw # 16.  If rider is able to take good start , can pose a threat to fancied runners.

Starry Eyes – Won with a measure of comfort over 1400. Has done the PBM trip unlike others in the fray who have Won over 1000 or 1200. Seems to have have potential to Win classics in due course. Can Win.

Would go for Value bets from among these 4 - Starry Eyes , Gerome , Prezedential , Senora Bella.

  

7. Zaagros , Silver Streak , Glorious Reward , Ancient Warrior.

All 4 capable of doing well as none look outstanding . Each way or place on the first 2 horses may fetch decent dividends , If they indeed finish on board.

8.Grand Dame , Bucharest, ICE Zone , Zidaan .

Based on its impressive victory in last outing S.Wind could have WON . Is now withdrawn for whatever reasons .Hence the race has an Open look to it.

Grand Dame is capable of doing well , though distance looks a bit sharp. Should place ,  can WIN.

Zidaan and Bucharest are the other contenders in the fray.One of them should place.

Ice Zone last run was poor , hence ignored for WIN . With the Owner's horses under scanner , a fair chance to Place.

23 - 02 - 2013 Bangalore races

Saturday card looks comparatively healthier. On Friday not many options could be explored due to limited contenders. Results and dividends reflect the trend of bangalore races.

1. La Jawaab , Sparkling Image , Fantastic Star.

Though a class IV race , for all practical purposes can be termed a class Vb race.

Vistabella failed twice this season.  Difficult to back it for Win repeatedly , trainer is content using services of mediocre jockeys. Horse is drawn # 12 , not going to be easy.

La Jawaab is also a failed favorite but comes from class VB ,  pull in weights may help it to some extent.

Raaga is a bleeder and best left alone , the handicap is stiff.

Nocturnal Hunter was not sighted in race 160. Could be a set back case , will be confirmed after this race. Has seen better days , why no tracks since previous run ??

Fantastic Star was faraway 3 rd in race 188. Can hope to place.

2. Buzzword , Sound of Power , Jeyem.

Class Vb race , best avoided for obvious reasons as usually fancied horses are not sighted at the busy end.

Honorable Empress is ridden by a Jockey who is YET to Win a race despite riding for past 2 years.

Buzzword is tracking well and has the best credentials to WIN. Place looks certain.

Jeyem , comes into contention due to poor record of most runners.

Sound of Power and Impressive Attitude are both active in tracks , the former could place at longer odds.

3. Magnitute Star , Lad King.

Showin's Off despite the tall claims has WON only 1 race since making debut and that too over 1200 metres. Will be short priced favorite which is not worth considering.

Zultanaite and Panamera may not sustain the distance , the latter is a bleeder.

Midtwon Magic is woefully out of form. 

Lad King has won class II race in Mysore , in effect a class III horse. The handicap is attractive and in a small field if fancied runners are found lacking ,  horses like Lad King surprise.

Magnitude Star is running over right distance . Though aged can place . 

4.Hackett , The Guardian , Hill Stone.

Difficult to pick genuine contenders as presence of mediocre jockeys affect the performance of horse .. On that count Horses 1.2.3.5.9.11. have negligible  chance to WIN. At best one of them could Place

Hill Stone has been seen finishing on well in previous runs. Sadly trainer is content using services of leap year jockeys to fill his coffers.

The Guardian was an impressive Winner in 2010. Set back case as reflected in ownership change. Mock race effort was reasonable. 

5.Amazonas , Strenghtandwonder

Aumento did well in race 166 finishing a credible 4 th. The mile trip may affect its chances.

Truimphant is tracking well and has services of a Top jockey. Stable mate who is a Winner in previous outing is also in the fray. Hence a ??? on intent.

Amozonas , well bred , can stay the distance . Was not ridden well on debut when it finished 6 th to StrenghtandWonder. Can reverse the position as better rider is entrusted with the task here.

Czar of Romance - feeble finishing effort cost a certain race .The Winner was no doubt superior , jockey P.S.Chouhan could have WON with a better ride. Over mile trip , looks a bit difficult.

6.Spark of Beauty , Mark of Genius ,Final Countdown.

Hillsboro was very impressive in race 161. Choice of rider displays lack of intent. Having Won with allowance jockey , trainer opts for mediocre rider , penalty is stiff.

Spark of Beauty - some sparkle noticed in race 1912 , 5 th to Matias over 1400. Has earlier Won a couple of races in Mys.  Is known to be speedy , positive equipment change observed. Should place , could Upset.

Final Countdown beat the likes of Hillstone and Catamaran ?? surely not in the same league as many horses here. Horse is in form with 3 consecutive Wins, may have reached its peak.

Mark of Genius and Swift Star are good enough to place .

7. Ballantoy , Formula One , Royal Admiral.

Horses 4.5.9.10.11.12.13 have no chance to WIN or even Place.

Rest come into contention , race time pointers may help in picking the Winner.

8. Sparkling Star , Foswell , Dancing Emeralds .

Horses 4.5.6..8.9.10.12 have no chance to WIN.  Out of the rest 5 in the fray , these 3 appeal.

Foswell is certainly the best of the lot. In and out running , change in equipment , change in distance does not help. On merit a fair chance. The weights are an issue.

Sparkling Star finished a good 3rd with work jockey in race 178 carrying top weight. A fair chance to deliver on promotion as the horses is at bottom handicap.

Dancing Emeralds and Right on time are contenders for place.

Bangalore - friday races

Hi all , choices and comments for race day are as follows -

1.Claara , Shivalik beauty , Nations Glory.

Horses 2.4.5.9 have least chance  to PLACE. The rest come into contention by default. This being a VB race , race time pointers could be useful. Favorites are best avoided. 

Nations Glory needs strong saddle support which is lacking here.

Shivalik Beauty gets a chance only due to presence of PSC who makes his presence in the first 7 races. How many of them can he WIN is the ??

Claara - place looks moral , if Owner is sighted in paddocks worth taking a chance for Win. 
 
2.Dance of a General , Grey Connection.

Most fancied runners have competed against each other in recent past. Going by distance suitability and handicap , these 2 appeal.

Glycy's Baby post penalty does not impress.

Velvetine may at best place.

Dance of a General has changed stables , may help change its fortunes ??

3.Oriental Image , Tijuca Forest , Jersey Shore.

Lot of debutants , potential unknown. The track works can be suggestive. Hopeful that one of these would WIN. Jersey Shore has faced relatively better horses in the 3 outings , comes into contention by default

4. Cirque De Soliel , Shivalik Fire , Real Steel.

CDS was withdrawn last week , stable mate obliged . Is facing tougher bunch , a fair chance if all's well on fitness front .

Real Steel - came with a belated bid and finished a good 2nd  to Ace Dancer. Most horses running in this owner's colors this season have failed . May at best place.

Shivalik Fire was an impressive Winner in race 96. Subsequent run in Derby can be ignored as it was out of depth over 2400 distance and relatively inexperienced. Can come good if CSD is unable to replicate its known form. Odds may not be in favour.

5. Radical Attraction , Sussex Downs.

Fancied runners were seen in Race 171 . Over extended distance and change in jockey's there is a fair chance that the order would be reversed to some extent.With a few interlinked horses in the fray , a difficult call to make. Hopefully One of these should do well.

Auburn Beauty has not Won for a long time. Was beaten by stable mate in race 171.  Jockeys have changed , result may not.

Mountain Range was an impressive Winner in lower class , lost to Panamera in last outing. Facing relatively superior bunch. Pace of the race may affect its chances.

Chiron - ambitious attempts at Malakpet came to nought. Back to pet distance , change in tracks may not help.    
 
6.Vega , Six Shooter , Salsa Touch.

Allianz is a late starter , cant be backed with confidence.

Star Scream was 20 lenghts behind Winner in previous outing.

Salsa Touch's last run can be ignored as Trainer was under suspension , horse was not in the odds. Should place.

Vega is a Winner this season in same class. Can repeat as many Non winners are in the fray.

7.Argiano , Impressive Mode , Cherish.

Based on previous run and bloodlines the First named  has sound credentials to deliver.

Impressive Mode is well bred and tracks are forward. Should place , the upset if any.

Cherish and Vigorous are contenders for place
 
8. Wrekin , Open Page , Sandstorm.

Limited options. Wrekin has a fair chance , not a certainty as Stable has not been in the limelight this season. 

Open Page has been doing well , can upset.

Sand Storm can ONLY place.

Mumbai - 21 st Feb races

For all practical purposes , 5 races scheduled , a drab race card. There could be some surprises in a couple of races.

Analysis and personal preferences are -

1.SKIP

Okawango is Winner in class II and not Won a race beyond the mile trip. Is better placed on handicap when compared to Ambrosia but staying capability and class is ??

Ambrosia has won last 4/5 starts , staying capability is not in doubt , the handicap is stiff. In a 3 horse field ,  pace cut by front runner could at times prove beneficial. Odds will be too low for comfort. No point even Considering a Bet on this Horse.

Clarion Call is a genuine class I horse , aged 8 , running first time this season. Known to STAY as well as Bleed.

2. ( Act of War , Nush )

Octopaul is a demotee and has obviously seen better class. A Winner unlike the younger horses in the fray . But having regard to its inconsistencies and bad gate manners it is difficult to consider for Win. Conceding weight to younger horses is not easy.

Act of War – ran over shorter trip of 1200 metres , was not far off from the Winner in race 191. This mile trip would be more suitable and having regard to quality of field on offer a Fair chance.

Nush – was an expensive failure in Pune , finished behind Hemisphere , Barringo and New World.  First run in Mumbai can be ignored as draw # and jockey declared affected its chances. Should place , can UPSET.

Eclipsed – 7 runs since debut , last 2 runs were quite poor.

3. Electra , Beer Hand , Belle Figura..

Class Vb race , horses which have WON in recent past are preferred to NON Winners.

4. Port Blair , Super Satin , St Bartz.

Izzara won when least expected. Those who backed it in last outing will have to ignore it here for obvious reasons. Facing relatively superior field , quality of saddle support is a ??

Port Blair – best bred in the race , 4 th to Fire Falcon which Won again later. Odds and jockey merit has to be factored.

Super Satin – came with belated bid to finish impressive 2 nd to Song of Sparrow. Trainer is not used to winning many races in a season. 

5. Holy Bull , Feast of Love , Umarkot.

Rock the Turf is sire by Arabian Gulf , which has fared very poorly across all centers. Cant be backed for WIN. Place odds may not fetch much.

Feast of Love was very impressive in Panthera race. Has a good chance to place. Can Win.

Umarkot – looks the best among debutants. Worth taking a place chance atleast as Odds will be High.

Holy Bull – 4 th to Caruso in race 66. Is facing modest opposition here. Capable of doing well. Rest depends on race time odds and quality of ride by the jockey.

6. Bay Blues , Unknown Rebel , Aigaion.

On the basis of its previous run AIGAION will be short priced favorite. Sparingly raced for whatever reasons. Running over a trip which could be short based on  pedigree.

Bay Blues – came with a flourish to finish a good 2 nd to Theology. Is a Winner in lower class . Should place , may upset.

Unknown Rebel is a Winner in same class twice this season, Subsequent runs were in class III where it was out of depth. Should place by default.

Foxtrot – in and out running , jockey has been clueless and Winless for past few months.

1.4. Suntan Beauty – a decent 2 nd to H.Princess on derby day , lot of smart money was on the horse for place. Owner’s colors prominent throughout the day. Now that it will be fancied , there will be a ??? on how it will perform. A decent chance but not a certainty.

1.7 Polar Zone – a faraway 5 th to H.Princess , jockey switch does not look positive as C.Rajendra is hopeless these days.

1.8 Stella – horse has not been very far off from Winner in last 4 outings. Extended distance and inconsistent form of others , may help this runner.

1.10 Tomorrow’s Dreams – had won twice in 2011. Subsequent runs have been pretty poor . As fancied horses are all maidens , there is a small chance for this 7 year old to come good ,
trainer has maximum entries today.

1.11 Daredevil - distance seems sharp , a late dash may fetch it place.

Vb race , Better to skip as any of the fancied runners could WIN . No certainty on who will oblige.Those willing to take a risk can look at T.Dreams each way. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.2 Ice Beauty - a repair case going by its bloodlines and lack of sufficient runs.Cant rule it out for place.

2.3 Kerrisdale – Trying the mile trip for first time. Handicap is stiff.

2.4 Senor Hill -  a fair 4 th to Bonobo over 2k distance. Has a fair chance to place.

2.8 Polynesia - was fancied in race 146. Rider could not do much as horse was not very fit.The handicap is attractive here. Should easily place , can Win.

2.11 Song Of Praise - consistent right through this season. Should place.

2.12 Striking Girl - Fifth to Wish upon a star over the mile trip. May at best place.

3.1 Visionist - JWDL ?? if allowance jockey is opted for , could place.

3.3 Centre Stage - last run was truly pathetic. Horse has seen better class.

3.4 Jimbo - came with a flourish in race 177 to finish a good 2 nd to Bulls Eye. More to do with front runners getting tired.Hence i dont give it a chance to Win. Place also seems doubtful.

3.5 Winds of Glory - in and out running , last run was forward. Notorius rider , seems fit for Kolkata , cant be backed with confidence here.

3.7 Monza - stable change , huge jump in class.Having beaten Bulls Eye earlier there will be support. That was a one off event , can't expect it to happen repeatedly. If C.S.Jodha is entrusted with the ride , one can ignore for even place.  

3.8 Step Up - known to hit the front from the word GO . Rider is definitely the worst in western india. However having regard to Low weights and the running style of the filly ,cant be ignored . The upset for the day.

Step Up each way or Centre Stage Place. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.4 Spirit of Ecstacy - no recent form

4.6 Gottawearshades - barely managed to Win race 155. On promotion , could at best place.

4.8 New Star Cut a fast pace and then faded out over 1400 metres  on debut in race 133 . Subsequent run rider declared was mediocre. No show at any stage. Now seen in class IV with the pull in weights. Very active in pool , can do well ONLy if it hits the front.

4.9. Novak - on merit a good chance , jockey capabilities to be factored. Last run was against superior company , finished 5 th .

4.12 Blessed - close 5 th to San Rafeal , which is a class superior to Gottawearshades. On that count should be in contention if the former is fancied.

Blessed WIN or Novak each way based on race time pointers.

5.1 Celtic King - recent tracks are good , behavior at gates is not satisfactory. Hence always a ?? on whether it would take a good jump 

5.2 Curiosity - as Winner was known well in advance , was given a light run in race 147. Rider making his move after it was all over. Over extended distance , having regard to bloodlines  and jockey declared to ride, best chance.

5.5 Haunting Moments - well bred , staying the trip is not on doubt. Can place at longer odds.

5.7 Splendid Light - Arabian Gulf has been the DUD stallion this season. Recent tracks of this filly are promising. With only 2 payouts in the race , difficult to bet confidently. If horse is backed at race time , worth taking a chance.

6.3 Mountbatten - impressive Winner in race 161. The handicap is very stiff. Doubt it for even place.

6.4 Talk of the Town - has seen better class , was on downward rating mission . Aged 8 , can hope to place.

6.5 Tell me More - last run was really good , only issue is consistency. Earlier to this , it finished DEAD last.Field is modest , can hope to place. Stable mate is also in fray.

6.10 Divine Inspiration - looks certain for place unlike others who are here / there types.

6.11 Oxbridge - lots of tracks , good on bloodlines , delayed debut raises ?? on its fitness.

6.15 Crrisp - 5 th to Mountbatten in race 161. A repair case obviously , seems to have recovered. The weights are very very attractive and hence qualifies for a e/w wager.

6.19. Mountain Warrior - could place

Crissp , small each way chance , Divine Inspiration place. ---------------------------------------------------------------------

7.2. Afro Jack - speedy , sen on tracks after a long break. Can't take a positive call.

7.3 Twilight - Has won twice this season. Is conceding weight to other 4 year old's , not going to be easy. May have seen class unlike others , yet winning would be difficult.

7.5. Monsieur Strauss - very speedy has a fair chance.Jockey CR usually retires after the first mount for the day. If it happens worth taking a chance , else better to ignore.

7.6 Grand March - a winner in previous outing. , has weights in favour. Should place , can win.

7.9 Aliyana - known for its blinding initial speed , fit for 1000 metres ONLY . Last run was over 1200 , hence lost steam midway , can place.

7.10 Rein in Spain - skipped pune season , both its runs in mumbai were forward. 4 th to Anahi which is superior to most horses here. Though not seen in tracks , there is fair bit of activity in pool . Could place.

8.3 Habibian - with work jockey finished 2 nd going on start to finish mission over 1400 metres. Will attract support on the basis of that effort. Now trainer has set his sights on 1000 metre race.The horses competing in these 2 types of races are entirely different. Hence i dont give it much of a chance to WIN.

8.4 Song of Sparrow - did well in both outings this season. As is usually seen this season , if Owner's horse is backed , rest take a back seat. Can Win.

8.5 Blind Date - a Winner in previous outing , cant be ignored for place.

8.9 Strategy - ran a mighty race on thursday , seems to be coming a bit too soon for comfort.

8.10 Edge of Glory - won over 1400 a good gamble coming through. Next run was over 1200 , now 1000 ?? May at best place.

8.12 Basic Life - Trainer is 1000 metres specialist. Horse is well placed on the scales.

I don't prefer jockeys like I.Chisty. So Blind Date each way or Edge of Glory depending on race time odds. ---------------------------------------------------------------------  
The feature event of the day-

9.1 Dancing Phoenix - Winner in race 170 , now conceding weight to non winners. Can only place.

9. 2 Valerian - a impressive Winner at bangalore. Fantastically bred , presence of PSC indicates confidence of Trainer. Only issue is horse is not tracked at Mumbai. Can over come this on sheer class.

9.6 Little Love - it did very well in race 181 , facing Winners HERE. The fact that Indian Tocuh was the best of the beaten lot in race 181 diminishes its chances here. Owner has multiple entries.

9.7 Autumn Love - has a small chance to place

9.8 Indian Touch - debut run can be ignored as stable mate was Winner and work jockey was entrusted with the ride. Recent effort was really good , jockey O'donoghue was a disaster. Was always looking to make his move on the outside which cost Owners MANY races. Facing superior company here yet should place.

9.10 Verboten - sibling Klipspringer is seen in class I , long list of blue blood owners is impressive , dont know what they saw in Antia to entrust this horse.    

Valerian WIN /  Indian Touch Place.

10.7 Speeding , positive switch in jockey reflects intent . Very well bred , should be the horse to beat.

5. Looks quite open. 

Horses with run benefit who can do well are - Zenica and Absolute Pleasure.
Horses making debut who could do well - Lagoona and Absolute Red.

6. Looks wide open .

Celebrity , Magnitude Star , Sudden Magic , Valahak  are all capable of doing well. Jockey capability and race time pointers should help in shortlisting the list further.

7.Key of Knowledge , Scuffle , Summers Breeze.

8. Super Surprise , Savvy Concept , Brigades Supreme.


Look for value bets from among the shortlisted horses as races are competitive.

Bangalore races - 15 th Feb

Hi all,

not a very encouraging card , most races are for horses with low ratings. These are my choices -


1.Mountain Storm , Aetius , Pole Position.

Class VB race , field mainly consists of broken up horses , difficult to bet confidently on any of them.  Horses with some potential are mentioned above.

2.Surprise Succeeding , Perfect Attitude , Diamond Flame.

repeat of first race. None look outstanding even for Place. If race time pointers are positive on any of these , each way options can be considered.

3.Scarler O Hara , Cash My Way , Artorius.

Forever Honour did reasonably well in race 143 , next outing was out of depth against superior horses. Choice of equipment raises ?? on intent and fitness.

Scarlet O hara is tracking well and a good jump from the gates can help its cause. Should place , may Win.

Cash my Way is speedy , not sure why owner / trainer opted for this Jockey. In any case on merit , a good chance to place.

Artorius is best on breeding. May need a couple of runs to strip fitter. As it is a delayed debut , only a place possibility.

4. Magnomical , Mid Town Delight , A Move to Remember.

Horses 2.4.6.9.10.11 have least chance to even place.  Out of the rest 5 , Superior Edge cant be considered due to presence of Liam Jones. Caraway is the only horse ignored on merit. 

Midtown Delight has won twice this season , has the weights to tackle. A Move to Remember is speedy , place looks certain. Magnomical is a demotee  , has seen better days not sure if it has lost form completely . Trainer is known for giving easy runs with an eye on reducing the ratings . The upset if any in this race.

5.Cocktail Circuit , Salt of the Earth ,Sumitono.

Spaniard is running first time this season , not going to be easy carrying 62 kgs.

Ice Stone has been failing very often , saddle support is lacking. On merit a chance to Place.

Cocktail Circuit's last run was over 2400 , filly did not relish the trip. Earlier a good 2 nd to Chiron. 
Recent tracks are decent. Can Win.

Salt of the Earth , a winner this season unlike many others in the fray. Last run Ryan Marshall did not extend the horse  at any stage. Could be the doosra from the Trainer .

Sumitomo -  mile trip and handicap would suit this filly. Rest depends on jockey capability.

6. Will Star , Courage in Red , Esteban.

Anonymous could not win even in mysore. Last run was very poor. 

Courage in Red - attempted the mile  trip in race 171 , failed miserably. Horse is a winner of 2 terms races. Yet to win a handicap race conceding weight to experienced horses. Should place , can win.

Esteban - has sound credentials , facing far superior bunch compared to race 76.  win is not a certainty.

Will Satr - may be short of genuine class , when compared to the others but has been very consistent this season. Running over ideal trip. Place looks certain. The upset if any.

mr Carpe - ?? not sure what trainer is trying to convey by making it run over this distance.

Pack ur Bags - at a tidy handicap , a resolute winner in both outings this season. Drawn 11 , rider is relatively inexperienced , at best a place prospect.

7.Wing Commander , Royal Admiral ,One from a Billion.

Horses which have Won this season Brownie , Brilliance and Go Green have been penalised and a repeat can be ruled out. At best one of them could place.

Royal Admiral was withdrawn in Go Green Race , a fair chance to oblige. Rider is not the best.

Wing Commander - 4 th to Open Page over 1400 metres. With the benefit of a race run , a good chance to Win. There are no tracks since previous run , only pool activity.

Serenegeti - has a better rider compared to last 3 outings. Handicap is stiff.

8.Affirmator , Sparkling Cat , Artic Breeze.

14/12 Mumbai races

Card looks bland , these are my choices.

1. Highway Express , Arabian Flight , Neptune.

The usual class Vb race to start off the day's proceedings.   Hopefully the winner could be from these 3 horses.

If Neptune has to do well, rider of Highway Express would take a back seat. Arabian Flight has credentials to Upset.

2. Cypress Point , Hurricane Wind.

I don't see recent tracks of Hamlet at Mumbai. Rest two are there by default. The latter would be fancied. Lots of RKW horses in the fray. If intent visible , can WIN. Had beaten Halle on first day , the latter was seen in class II on sunday. The handicap usually does not matter when there are only 3 horses in the fray. 

3. Ice Skates , Castle Troy , Vaile Rouge.

Ice Skates is facing very modest opposition. Lack of tracks is always an issue with horses trained by Antia. The pool exercise should have kept them fit for the fray.

Castle Troy is well bred , last run was too bad for comfort. Should easily place.

Strategy is a good horse , entrusted to wrong jockey.
 
4. Lake Paradise , Snow Blaze , Illustrious.

Snow Blaze is going over right trip.  Has credentials to Win.

Lake Paradise is non winner for a pretty long time. The handicap is attractive ,  change of jockey could do the trick.

Illustrious was a resolute Winner in previous outing. Can hope to place if Clinton is found lacking in efforts.

Choice of jockey on Incognito is ??

5. Blue Knight , Romantic beauty , Heartthrob.

Class Vb race.  Fancied horses don't usually oblige. Though aged Blue Knight would relish this distance and place looks certain. Can Upset.

Romantic Beauty is the universal choice , ODDS and Risks has to be factored

6.Desert Eagle , Nanina , Arabian Chief.

Another of those infamous Vb races . Hopefully 2 of these 3 horses should place.

7. Ghanghorr , Porto Banus , Adams Spirit , Aventador.

Race for youngsters , could go any which way. On jockey capability , distance suitability and pedigree the above 4 appeal to me. Value bets are the norm when none of the horses are outstanding.

8. Ice Empire , Sariska , Stormy Wind.

As noticed in race 3 , Two horses are  sporting same Owner's color , different stables. Two horses from CDK stable are running first time this season. The other 2 from HJA have been expensive failures since debut , yet to win a race , well experienced.

Race time indicators will be useful in both races.

Detailed analysis does not help much when 115 horses are competing and we have 10 races scheduled . 

If 10 out of 20 horses mentioned above finish on Board , i would be contended .

Short of time , hence no detailed analysis. Just One choice per race. Do look for race time pointers and decide on the bet , be it Win or Each way or only Place.

As always Ignore if ONMONEY favorite.

1.Hard Hit.

Collectively 12 horses have finished more than 160 lenghts behind Winner in previous outing. Highest is Architect at 42 lenghts , lowest 7 lenghts Hard Hit. These are over various race distances and in different class. Hence figures are not really comparable. The Statistics reflect qualitative racing .

3.Star Wings.

4.Golden Rule.

5.Gold Medal.

6.Sarvagnya.

7.Alastor.

8.Bloody Mary.

9.Prince Paladin.

Keep an eye on Horse weights. The great Prasad Raju managed to increase weight of Aero Smith by 25 kgs in 20 days , between race 163 and 208.The reasons were quite obvious. There was no support for the horse at race time.

Mumbai races - 10/02/2013

Hi all ,

Choices for the day are -

1.Rodeo / Halle.

Angel Child is returning to base after disappointing runs in Hyd and Kolkata. Not going to be easy conceding weight to other 4 year old’s .

Halle finished a decent 4 th to Maple Star.  Can shine here , though surface form is quite poor , not won a race for a long time.

Rodeo has been very consistent and has a chance to repeat. Jockey merit to be factored.

Invictus has done in last 2 outings , saddle support is poor. More likely to finish in bottom 3.

2. You’re the Boss ,Ultrasonic , Panthera.

Panthera has raced thrice this season. Has not shown any sparkle , may place.

You’re the boss is speedy , last run was against some quality 3 year old’s , was out of depth. Has fair credentials to Win , odds and stable reliability on favorites to be considered.

Ultrasonic – tracks are very good , distance does seem sharp for comfort.

3.Glowing Mist , Bella Figura , Radical Mackie .

Class VB race , best avoided .The best horse is Kismat but not sure if it will participate in the race. Drawn 14 , not going to be easy .

Rest are here / there types , none look outstanding.

4.Astapi , Onassis.

Maple Star may have won the Oaks , field there was pretty poor ( with regard to sustainability over  distance )  Though only 4 are seen in action , the field is very  experienced and consists of quality class I horses. Maple Star may not finish 1-2 .

The weight it is conceding to Higher rated horses reflects the true picture.

Astapi is a known front runner , finished a good 3 rd to Onassis in race 106.. Is capable of reversing position.

5.Que Sera Sera , Seven Seas , Storm Tracker.

Flaring Sun , Roger B Cool ,. Theology and Hidden Goodness have least chance to Win / place.

Among the rest , above 3 appeal on current form and handicap.

There is no walkover for Storm Tracker . It has to run the distance and finish ahead of the others , which is not going to be easy after the dismal run in Hyd.

6. My short listed horses are  - Nefyn , Coccinella , Rajasthan Royals.

Nefyn is a quality sprinter , was hampered for room in its earlier outing. Can shine.

Coccinella – initially regarded as a good sprinter , last 2 runs were over extended distance. Horse has won twice this season and is in form. Cant be ignored. May finish ahead of stable mates .

Amadues & Elena are facing a high quality field and frequent change in distance does not help matters. This being the  S C JAIN Sprinters Cup , there are ?? on whether a few owners would like to receive the trophy .

Ishpingo , had won when the weights were in favour. At this handicap place also looks doubtful.

Ancient Wonder – has failed to deliver since its bangalore trip.  Last run was poor , recent tracks are ok. Can place.

7. Grand Duke , Forest Vision

Starry Eyes did very well on debut in race 152 losing to Mariinsky. Over extended distance a good chance to win. Odds may not be in favour , jockey is hopeless , running at level terms unlike previous run , all factors to be considered.

Grand Duke well bred , lots of activity noticed in pool. Has a fair chance to Place , may upset.

With 3 entries MAM ensured race does not go Void. A consolation place can be expected.

8.Mon Ami , Purple Mokara , Talk of the Town.

Too many horses in the fray. As is usually the case , those who get a good jump can be expected to finish on board.

Act of War is a eternal failure , cant be trusted for WIN. Place odds may be negligible.

Horses running after a long break are best Ignored .

9. Brunello , Wish Upon a Star , Jacqueline Smile.

Youngsters like Home Advantage , Delgado , Chicharito , Eclipsed have failed often. Difficult to keep following them until they oblige. Amongst these Eclipsed is the best and should place.

Wish Upon a Star Won easily despite poor saddle support. Can hope to place again.

Brunello runs over ideal trip , facing younger horses and conceding weight. Yet a fair chance based on its 2 wins in Pune. Should place.
