Day 1 : Hyderabad races

First day of the Winter season and I expect Trainer Prasad Raju to be in the limelight.

Horses which showed no form whatsoever in the Monsoon Season are expected to display sparking form in Winter season , without any appreciable change in track form. That is the unique feature of the Hyderabad races as the form displayed in the last run does not guarantee a WIN.

Trainer Prasad Raju usually has a stronghold over the Winter season and it would pay to Follow his Horses .As always , backing ON Money favorites are not recommended , however GOOD the horse is for Obvious reasons.



These are my choices for race day,


1.Royal Tune has the best credentials here. Will start as the favorite. Should Win but if the odds are below EVEN , not worth a bet at Malakpet.

If JIA yoh Jia YOH takes a LEVEL Jump then a good chance. Risky to bet until the gate manners improve.

Pygmalion and Imaan are both looking good an hence can place.


2. Citi Fantasy , Madho , Autumn Gold.

most runners have no recent form but with the change in the TRACK conditions , one cant go by the record in the recently concluded season as track used was different.



3.Glen Gyle should WIN.

Walnut Creek is tracking well. Should Place.


4.Vendetta has a good chance here to Win. May not be fancied , each way bet is suggested.

Ave Maria will definitely place. Has the best CHANCE to WIN.

Style Ikon or Cannon Treasure can fight for the minor placings.



5. Al Jameel and Golden Sabot are the late finishing types and hence are likely to be concerned in the finish.

Al Jameel has participated with better horses and gets first preference.


Torrestrella and Lucky Damsel - one of these 2 can PLACE.



6. Greet Well or Alberton Star ?? race is in the safe keeping of Trainer Prasad raju.

Alberton Star may need more distance and hence I will go with Greet Well.



7.Bella Coola , Fabulous Crown , Doing my Best.

Close call as most of the horses have shown some signs of improvement in earlier outing.

Bella Coola came up very well in its last outing over a shorter distance. Should shine here.

Fabulous Crown is a genuine class 1 Horse in the fray. Will place.


8.Smart Empire , Fusion Music , Classic One.

on sheer class the first named has no worthy opposition. Most of the earlier runs are dubious , can strike here.

Fusion Music is one sure shot place bet for the day.



9.Royal Quest , Alpine Girl , Indian Army.

May go any which way.

Mere change in name brought out Spectacular results or was it the case of being HOOKED right through by the Trainers who had them under charge until recently.

PONYTA - Surprised many by Winning when least expected. However it was one of the FINOO choices which came Good at Longer ODDS. Punters Wish to see many more Long SHOT Winners , any handicapping system is OK.










Dancing MONEY - Struck it RICH on the Derby Day.
Trainer Surti is known for his LONG SHOTS on the BIG days.











Molta BELLA - even in their WILDEST dreams Punters / Trainer / Jockey would not have imagined that the Season Would get off to such a Flying Start. R Shelar , alas this effort did not fetch him Winners again.














Versaki , the Horse of the SEASON. Looks like the Success story has come to an END.















The OWNER whose presence led to others MEEKLY surrendering. When his horses got backed during the 2 days he visited the races , MONEY power ruled RACING.Trainers were interested in pleasing him rather than trying with their WARDS.

When such a HUGE contingent was in force how could Highland Crown and Rommel WIN.

A quiet Coup , courtesy the other fancied runners.











Close finish or bad efforts by the rest of the field.
Saffron , getting the better of Angelo and Tudor Regent , both of whom won subsequently.






Super King , when fancied the Horse lost its way in the betting.Came slowly off the gates. When ignored a clean Start and WON at 15 to 1.
the most hated Trainer.

Most disgusting behavior of this Trainer cost the Punters dearly.









Relied on the LONG priced Horses to recover the Expenses for the Season. Failed miserably on many favorites.

the Owner was the Supreme Emperor , now is a pale shadow.













Classy Yana , delivered when required.














Rockeby Venus - the usual yearly story. Fails with the Retainer Jockey as favorite. Wins with the lesser known Jockey at Longer odds.











Porthush - a classy show displacing the younger Red Romeo .















OASIS Star , nothing more to PROVE.

May be one Grand Finale at MUMBAI , losing as the shortest priced Horse in the upcoming season.












Nitrous - the Doosra from the Clean Owner. Was not the first and also not the last such INCIDENT.













Kapathos - Deserving Winner , giving the young trainer some Hope.

ABBAS , SUNIL , CAMEO performance. All at Good Odds. followed the footsteps of Narendra Lagad , the shorter the odds the horses looked the other way.













Cabriolet - misplaced priorities . Horse with immense potential sacrificed for petty short time gains.












Desert Dynamite - Only relief for the Trainer throughout the season.








Beyond Belief - suddenly sprouted wings after some lack lustre performances in Mumbai. Canny Trainer.








BEE Quick - colors not prominent this season.














BELLA - a few gift races for the COMMITEE Members.
Jockey WON to be in the good books of the Owner , lenient sentence for hooking other Horses.
The Owner , cheated Punters of rightful dues by taking sides and saving a fellow Owner of his Betting Money.
Media savvy ,plays to the gallery , the One CHEAP decision PROVED his Worth and caliber.

To me these TWO were , Undoubtedly the Heros of the Season having WON against all ODDS.

My bets followed by comments for the Invitation races ;

1.
Glory to Dancer - WIN; Horse is on the upswing.Should be in the limelight on the " D " Day.

Al Fatha - Place looks good .Token bet for Win and SHP.Frequent change in the names of Trainers is a matter of concern.


I guess the favorite BECKETT would be running at unbackable odds.



2. Rare and Precious seems to be a Moral bet fop PLACE>

Oasis Star again would be quoted at unbackable odds.

Dont know the intentions with regard to Red Romeo which is a quality sprinter coming from the same Trainer. Part Owner is based at Hyderabad.

Palazzio's Sun , difficult here.

Porthush - Jockey is the ????


3. Classic Charge - Each way or Blue Danube only PLACE.

High quality race in the offing and if one has to ignore the local horses.

Dartagnan - dope case , Jockey APPU.

Cayenne - very speedy , has the class to WIN.

Arts , last effort was noteworthy.

Nox - Long layoff and Jockey merit is a ???


4.Small WIN / SHP bet on Vijayrath .

El Paso had the better of Spot On , on Derby Day. With Jockey merit favoring Spot on the position may be reversed.


5.Riyasat : Each way.

Cavaradois - small bet for PLACE.

Iam not impressed by YANA , as Jockey may not be able to carry the weights.

Noble Prince is not a consistent performer but has the class to WIN the race.



6.Juventus : Win ;

Should WIN authoritatively.

Dancing Dynamite - Place bet for the sake of the Local Owner.

Diego Riveria had Won the Super Mile here and is capable of striking with the inform Jockey.

Rhapdision Snow - one paced horse. May not find the track suitable.



7.Autonomy - Win - SHP.

Except Antonios , others are back ward. So a bet on Autonomy is the only option.

Short selections for race day are as follows -

1. Chingari - most of the horses competing are non performers / aged horses.Going by recent track work and choice of Jockeys , i do get the impression that Chingari has a decent chance to Strike here. If the odds are lucrative each way bet can be considered.

Paris Hilton Looks Good for place.



2.Nymph , has to prove a point to trainer Shroff who had practically ruined its chances in the last 2 outings entrusting the riding to mediocre jockeys.

Can Can is my choice for place.


3.Spellbinder has NOTHING to BEAT.

Stylish Strokes may place.



4.Track Thunder will have a say in the finish.

Blush and Pure Elation can fight for the minor placings.


5.Romantic Impact - PLACE.
Let the best among the rest WIN.


6. XISCA on the basis of debut run looks to be the Best horse in the fray.

Ocean Parrman and FirMiss for place.



7.Mr Greedy - Each WAY.

Phenomenale - Good negative BET. Has beaten Swahili who does not qualify to be a good horse.

Running Bull is ridden by whipless Jockey. Else a Good Place bet.

Weizhou is the horse with the potential to UPSET.


8.Kapathos - likely to SHINE.

Calling the Shots may place.



9.Kalinga Star - ( depending on jockey declared to ride ) stands a decent chance here,


Magical Manthra should PLACE.



10.Red Chili - last race of the season can lead to a surprise Winner.

Excellent Story on merit is the best here.

Penultimate Day - Pune

Here are my brief choices for race day. With the season coming to a close the lesser fancied horses may be in the limelight for obvious reasons.

Most of the horses are raced to complete the formality and the choice of Jockey and the distance clearly exposes the dubious nature of entries.


My bets would be on these horses , subject to the odds being favourable at race time.

1.Grey Island - WIN , covered by a small hedge bet for SHP.

Last run has to be ignored as the Horse was slowly off from the gates.

If the odds are good enough a Place bet on Maverik can be considered.



2.Game of Power - Each way. A demotee here , the choice of Jockey does indicate the Intent to TRY The horse is not likely to be fancied and hence even the Place payout would cover the each way bet , if it finishes in the top 3.

If the above does not appeal then a place bet on Zippity Zip is the other option.



3.Paper King is likely to have a say in the finish as the previous run was short for comfort. WIN Bet if the odds are reasonable.

Ariane - Should PLACE.



4. Attila has the class to tackle the rest of the field. With many connected horses , difficult to judge the relative merit of the horses which have competed earlier.

Scholar may be considered for negative bet if the odds are below 1.10.



5.Thanda is the best of the lot. Can WIN.

ONE can also consider Indian Summer for a each way bet as the handicap favours the horse here.

Rommel at this handicap , can be ruled out for even PLACE.


6.Elemento Angel showed a lot of speed in earlier outing. Merits a bet here for WIN and Place.

Star Attraction came from a long way to finish 4 th to the RISING.Can PLACE.



7.Princess Ruby usually finishes on WELL .If ridden well then should find a place in the TOP 2.

The other option is to go with Prince Lochniva as the field is poor.

Astral Flash , 3.5 months break . So a ????


8. Kite RUNNER - consistent this season. Better to go with this rather than Aston Martin which is racing after 5.5 months.

Those who are not comfortable with Kite Runner can go with stable mate ENTICEMENT which should have a speedy display.


9. Too many contenders.

Yankee Lane or Dictator - Each way , based on the odds at race time. do expect both of them to do well.

Our Fortune with A.Imran Khan in the saddle can be ignored.



10.Fire Streak has an outstanding chance here.

Truinfo / Arabian Champ for place bets.



punters should pack up ideally after the 10 th race as the 11 th race is not really competitive.


Outright Stayer is Silver Tern , but suffers from bad gate manners.

Maseeha has seen better horses in its career.

Highland Crown was hooked twice , gets a chance to redeem position.Being the end of the season not very sure of intentions.

the season ending Shocker , Suave. Totally neglected in the betting on account of the Jockey , though the horse had some form to go by. The darkness clouded the Diwali celebrations for the Punters.



























Snob Value , Picked up valuable stakes at Mysore providing the Trainer some relief .Lost to some pretty mediocre Horses in Bangalore .Provides the Owner the finances to Annually Sponsor a RACE at Mysore. Seasonal Horse , Wins at lucrative odds when it matters the Most.











A consolotion WIN to prove that the bangalore Classic victory was no FLUKE . In the end , even the mysore WIN should be considered as a Fluke as the Horse did not deliver consistently as expected.

performed miserably in bangalore.
Not seen in tracks for 3 months. yet comes and picks 2 races at Mysore.
8 th Wonder , well as they say , nothing is impossible in racing.

When a horse ridden by N.harsha is installed as a favorite at race time , the only logical thing to do is to back the horse even if it had finished in the frame AGES ago.It was a Bold Request to the Punters to Bet on the Horse.
