Trying out this new format , feedback welcome.

Comments will be available for those horses in the WIN list.Based on the visitors comfort level with the race time ODDS , they can decide on which of the horses to go with for WIN.

I would try to post comments on those horses which don't appeal to me for WIN and which are mentioned in the place chance list.


First race -

In with a chance to WIN -

Beautiful Life - being tracked regularly. Did finish a decent 3 rd to Gun Powder. Is a Winner in the lower class and handicap does look stiff but preference given as it has seen the Winning Post at least once in its career.

Bon Giorno - faraway 3 rd to Sun Storm over 1400 , carrying 55 kgs. Will be carrying 50 kgs here.If taken to the front , nothing to stop the horse.

Place chance only -

Hard to Pin Down - being raced too often for comfort.Handicap seems very stiff. Lost to Karisini , which is a late entry at the Oaks , does not mean that this Horse is superior to the rest of the runners.

Sun Gold - late starter , if it takes a level jump fair chance.

Plaka - on breeding it is the best but going by its previous 3 runs , its difficult to consider a bet as it has performed miserably. Change in owners / trainer after a couple of runs does indicate that all's not well.


Second race -

In with a chance to Win -

Silverstahl , Mad About You , Star Marquess.

Youngsters , very difficult to consider previous runs as well as the Burning track work as these are rarely reproduced in the actual race.

Among the three the First Named is bred well and can surprise.

Star Marquess is a costly purchase but as always one can only take a blind bet as it is ridden by A.Imran Khan.


Place chance only - Tiberius , Sunday Cruz , Current Ray.

Keep an eye on Sunday Cruz as its trackwork is impressive. Sire has given a couple of Winners at Hyderabad and Kolkata.


Third race -

In with a chance to Win -

Celestial Son - has had a forward run with allowance jockey , a change of equipment and jockey can see it coming through .

Still Will - last run was dubious as the horse set a scorching pace along with Alpha Baby .Can Win if it is ridden off the pace. Unfortunate that we will know that , only after the STOP Bet instructions are announced.


Place chance only -

Alpha Baby , Superb Style - Both ridden by Mediocre Jockeys , handicap is attractive.


fourth race -

In with a chance to Win -

Atlantus - has good turn of foot. The Winning Jockey is back on the saddle after a couple of runs with non jobbers.

Bhagirathi - based on its flying effort in the previous run gets a fair chance.



Place chance only -

Tomsk has a good rider but would have been better off with John who had a good understanding with the horse.R Hughes does not impress.

Cruising - has been beaten by most of these horses earlier.


fifth race -

In with a chance to Win -

Sun Control - First time over this Distance . Sibling has done the distance in Hyderabad.Can shine.

Elzaam - the very fact that the HYD did not target the Hyd Oaks gives hope for a WIN here though the horse struggled in its previous effort.

Spark of Desire.- seen travelling well in Siachen race. Is bred to STAY. Can upset.


Place chance only -

Scarlette - One Impressive Win on debut after that a flop show ,this run may be too early for comfort.

One life to love - not sure if it can Stay but as field is not very classy , gets a fair chance.

Yes marina.



Sixth race -

In with a chance to Win -

Marie Curie - A very impressive Winner recently. Has been penalised but if the right money is on the horse and intent is visible nothing can stop it from a repeat performance.

Perfect Analysis - a very mediocre rider , has the advantage on the scales.


Place chance only -

Supreme Arch - inconsistent running , rider very very poor.

Misty Moonlight - distance looks sharp , long layoff.

Amazer and Sweet Timer - same stable . One of them will be there at the finish.Its time the Jockey instructions are relayed to the public after the horses leave the paddock. At least we will know what to expect.


Seventh race -

In with a chance to Win -

Joriki and Corleone - as is well known both are from related stables.Obviously both trainers will decide before hand on ONE of the Horses and then BET. the other horse will take it easy.No point in both of them betting on 2 horses and losing in the bargain.Friday was S.S.Attolahalli day , Saturday could see the other Trainer in the limelight.

Romance in the Rain - ignore the earlier run in far superior company.Rider was absolutely pathetic , unable to offer any assistance.Can shine.



Place chance only -

Dramatic Dancer - intent to do well is seen but horse is not genuine performer. Cant be trusted to deliver.

Kingdom of Dreams - handicap very stiff , last run was a disaster.

Greens - has seen better days.

31- 12 - 2010 blr races

these are my choices for the last day of racing , year 2010 .


1. Indravathi - WIN.

Angel Queen and Sunny Supreme can both hope to place.



2.Gazaki Win.

A Game to Remember and Athabasca Star for place.



3.Youngsters.

Both Bavaria and Field Marshall are looking good on the tracks.

Silken Charm is bred well and Chisty rides for this Owner after a long break.


4.Abnoba , Sweet Caroline , Sun Spirit.

Abnoba has been running over shorter distances but Dam was a stayer of repute. Can strike if the Jockey does show the inclination , the favorite Sun Spirit Owned by his primary patron.

Sweet Caroline - has the handicap in favour. Last run was very forward. Place looks MORAL.

Sun Spirit comes into contention by default.



5.Man Down Under , Good Gift , Blue Origin.


Class IV race , most of the horses have no recent form.

Your Stunning is the best horse in the fray but as always there is a ?? on intent whenever a horse from this stable is in the ODDS. The top weight is also a cause for worry,



6. Sun Stone , Yamas , Duchess of York , Sun Dawn.


Race should be restricted to the first 2 runners . The relative handicap favours both of them.

Sun Stone a bad ride from the jockey cost a certain race in the lower class.Meeting superior field here but handicap and jockey merit is visible.

Yamas - was not sighted in its previous run , although it was expected to shine.Should do well here.

Duchess of Youk and Sun Dawn can fight for minor placings.

Delacroix does not impress

poor card as a few races are for horses in the lowest class the qualitative races having no worthwhile contenders.

1. Honey bee , Marudhara Ratan , Suzy Wong.

Vb race , first of the day been earmarked for all non performing trainers. So Jodha and Joshi may get a chance here .

Suzy Wong has never done justice to the pedigree , being a fancied horse from this stable is always a risk and those who feel that this horse has nothing to beat can skip the bet.



2.My Pet Honey , Glorious Miss , Celtic Manor.

cant see any other horse coming into the frame.

My Pet honey has a decent chance to WIN here .

Celtic Manor not very actively seen in tracks. Can only place.



3.Alohamora , Hickory , Crescendo.

the first lady is out handicapped and may struggle for place also,

Hickory looks very fit and should be moral for place.

Cresendo was a failed gamble in race 37 and with this Jockey can SHINE.

Alohomora is speedy and can be the upset for the day.



4.Fire Vault , Tromos.

Dante Rosetti came up with Giant strides to beat the no hopers Trigance and Ocean Emperor. Will start as on money favorite in this race. Has not travelled the derby distance and Owners may be testing its potential.

Fire Vault is bred to stay and is a front runner. Handicap is attractive , Jockey is not ?? Has not Won for past 3 years and may have just about managed to place a few times in his career.

Tromos - late finisher. Can upset the fancied runner.

Mia Stella - beat the likes of Constantina and Heiress , well bred , not sure of its capabilities over this distance and in this class.



5.Demonstrator , M.Trot , Sine Qua Non.

Oh Kolkata , just about managed to get a gift race last season . The horses it beat have progressed , this horse is yet to Win in class II. Handicap and rider are positive but may at best place.

Sine Qua Non - sparingly raced. Has good turn of foot. Only reason to ignore would be due to the jockey.

Demonstrator - has CLASS. Cant be ignored.

m.Trot - if given a good ride can outclass all the horses in this field.



6.( Marauder , Indomitable ) Jodi race


One place is left for the likes of Stromoli , Machala and Swift Memories.

Daredevil - Owned by Sponsor of the Event.



7. Ran Banka , Red Tabasco , Royal Gesture.

Sea Bucaneer ran a pathetic race recently. Cant be backed with confidence.

Ran Banka is speedy and is capable of striking here. The Jodha's could be in the limelight on thursday .

Royal Gesture - trainer may not have the intent to do well going by the choice of this jockey who has not won a race in western india for past 1.5 years. Will take it easy as primary patron's horse is the favorite. Can at best place/



8. Born Special , Pound Foolish , Proud Star.

Twin Spice loses all chances due to the rider declared to ride.

Gatravat is nearing 8 years and may not be able to compete with the youngsters in the fray.

Laserre has bad gate habits. Jockey is shortly taking a long break for blatantly not allowing horses to run as per merit.

Pound Foolish is speedy and looks good for place.

Born Special is a demotee and has credentials. The change in ownership may have helped matters

SHORTLISTED horses for Mysore.

1.Aerial Acrobat , Time Secret , Cool Breeze.

2 year old's last race for the year 2010 at this centre.

As always these races have an open look.

Time Secret is tracking well and the dam was a sprinter of repute. Can shine.

Aerial Acrobat - lost to stable mate. Combination of Champion Jockey and Trainer , working wonders this season after being in the wilderness for the past year. Well bred horse , can shine.

Cool Breeze - very well bred , outer draw may hamper its progress.

Iron Marshall - well bred , tracking well , Jockey Srinath riding in mysore regular season after a decade ?? Not sure if he can pull it off. May start as favorite.



2.Raging River , Berkley Square , Star blue.

Vb race , on all counts Star Blue is superior but too many dubious runs in the recent past. Regular trainer is not available , so intent and race time odds will give a fair indication of what to expect.

Berkley Square - has seen better days. Can do well as the handicap is attractive.

Raging River - follow horse , will surely place. with a bit of luck and effort from the jockey can WIN.

Nano Blue - yet to WIN even after so many runs. Hence ignored.



3. Hi Heineken , Azazel , Aryansh.

limited options


4.Arkwright , Gara Fluid , Killer Foot.

another vb race with most of the jockeys not often seen on Winners.

Killer Foot is sure to place as the weights are attrative.

Gara Fluid os a demotee , rider has not been sighted near the all important winning post for past year. Can place.

Arkwright - gamble due any DAY


5.Gampu , Equador , No Name.

the horse from the main circuit has the best rider. Meeting some aged horses. Can strike.

EQUADOR - last run over 1400 was forward. Looking fit . Can upset.

NoName - has seen better days. Can hope to place.

Panchakshari - tracking regularly giving the impression that all's well. May have had a set back as the last time it placed was in March,2009.


6.Rashida , Biloo rani , Gambit.

Race is restricted to the first 2 runrers.Jockey merit will decide the WINNER.


Black Knight has just One solitary performance , at this handicap may prefer to take it easy.




7.Blue Thunder , Cannot Scot , Bullish Luck.

Going by trackwork and bloodlines the first named has the best credentials. Not sure of what the odds will be.

Cannon Scot is speedy and is capable of coming into contention. Stable mate Milagro is also in the fray , jockey merit is visible on the former.

Bullish Luck , top handicap , has seen better days.


8.Here Comes the Don , Super Sha , Nermai.

One cant go by track movements and previous run of Hitz . Is an Inconsistent performer mostly by design ??

Here Comes the Don - is well placed and can do well over this distance.

Super Sha - does well when least expected as was evident in race 35.

Nermai - tracking well , Winner in the main season. Handicap is definitely stiff but can at least place


9.Too many interlinked horses visible .

Regents Park , Land of Gold and On Call are my choices.

It was P S Chouhan day at Hyderabad on Sunday once again ,Winning 5 races is no mean achievement even by Hyderabad standards.

I did have some good picks on the blog on Sunday but due to multiple betting options the preference was as always for Mumbai . Hoping that a chance is available on Monday to encash .


these are the choices.


1.Difficult to pick a horse for even place. Such is the merit of the horses / jockeys.

I may try my luck with - Your Excellency or the Parliment - Only place.


2. Play the Music , Agastaya ,Teen Star.

Two year old's . Going by the quality of the jockey and the SIRE the first named looks impressive . But as always there is no certainty.



3.Major Luck , Ektto Ektto Ektto , Lake King .

Drum Beat , has the Champion astride , quality of the jockeys on other horses are very poor save for Lake King. Horse may need a few runs become striking is my feeling.


Major Luck - has had a run where it finished 4 th to Ice Rain .Once this Owner;s Horse gets backed its One Way Traffic for the race. Has happened quite a few times this season.

EEE - a bet purely for the now deceased Sire Mid Town which has given several Winners in the first crop itself.


4. Royal Embassy , Strategic Command.

Don Valentino - not going to be a cake walk.



5.Glen Gyle , Samsonaite , Yakshagana

Lone Ranger - has now WON a race for past 2 years. Always fancied yet fails repeatedly. One more chance here ?? Stable mate is also participating , hence a ??? on intent,

Glen Gyle - should run a great race. Has not been exploited to its potential.

Samsonaite - handicap looks attractive , place looks certain.

Mystical Knight - a horse which lost to Rio Grande which is not very highly thought off. Hence chances are SLIM.



6.Original Gladiator , Sugar Deal , Sorbitrate,

Handicap may favour Intrepid Warrior but can it travel the Mile ??

Original Gladiator - A Winner in previous outing , gets a chance to repeat again.

Sugar Deal - good chance to place due to limited contenders.



7.Ziglar , Caladium , Dancing Fairy.

Ziglar has been running wrong distances many a time. Can Upset here as most of the runners are non winners.

Ice Land may start as favorite. Sprint distance looks a bit sharp for comfort.

Invincible Genes - Was an impressive Winner in race 33. Long break. So not sure of fitness,

DF - Consistent , can hope to place again.

Pegausus Belle - a small chance for place.



8.Thunder King ,Kohinoor Supreme , Indian Brave Heart.

One of the worst races where its difficult to spot the pretenders and contenders.


9.Chesapeake , Kuchipudi , Disco Flash.

Orient Glory is fit for 1000 metres only. Hence can be ignored.

Last run of Disco Flash to be ignored. Has credentials.

Chesapeake - long time since this horse ran true to form. Looks fit here. Can hope to WIN.

mumbai and hyd 26/12

1. Fiery Fortune , Arzaan , Sparkler.

Brilliant Moon will start as favorite , for its bloodlines it should be running in class II atleast. Still in class V as it has very bad gate manners. Most of the times it trails the field throughout. Odds on offer will be less than 1.00 . Worth a SKIP

Fiery Fortune - double demotee , last run was positive . poor field , can pull it off for the Owners.

Arzaan - did place in its previous effort to Hi dolly , can hope to place again as Jockey declared is superior.



2. Grant Park , Tell me More , Tag Along Tommy .

Halo of Fame is out handicapped and Prince Cyrus is meeting youngsters , hence both ruled out.

Enchanted is a Vb winner. Cant be expected to Win here.

Tell me More - is a class III horse running on demotion . Has seen better days , if given a inspired ride can WIN.

Grant Park - lost to Halo of Fame as the rider was found lacking in efforts. Can strike here and make amends.

Tag Along Tommy - looking good for place.

Freany - has the tendency to shift out , can only place.


3. Lunar Quest , Constantina.

Close call , I get the feeling that Constantina can be beaten.
Lunar Quest being the favorite . Not sure of what Srinath can offer.



4. Watch and enjoy.

Black Jack has not gone the distance , has the handicap in favour. If the previous effort has not drained the filly out then it should emerge victorious.

Strategic Change has WON just Once and after that it has a let down. The Previous owners smartly sold it at the right time. Riders like Neeraj Rawal cant be trusted to do well. Being a 4 horse race , any result is possible.

Living the Dream is a STAYER. Can match strides.



5.Great White , Scarface , Ocean Emperor.

Sexy Eyes - aged Jockey cant be expected to upstage the younger professionals.

Great white - literally dragged the rider in previous run. Is bred to stay , Can Upset.

Ocean EMPEROR - The only horse with a negligible chance to WIN . Can at best place.

Scarface - very impressive on debut , but beat nothing of note. Is tracking well, is in with a chance to repeat.



6.Our Chieftain , Salt , Incognito / Mountain Wind.

dash for cash race.

Mountain Wind a impressive Winner in pune is carrying the same form in the tracks. The lack of a race run may hamper its progress here.

Salt - a very unimpressive ride in previous effort. One more chance here to make amends , not going to be easy , worth a e/w punt.

Incognito - rider made a mess of it in race 55 , kept to the railings and then made the move when it was too late. Hope the aged Jockey is alert to the task here.

Our Chieftain - was mighty impressive on debut. Is very well bred. Should be involved in the finish.


7.High Society , Fire Miss , Michele Marieci , Glowing Star.

Race should be restricted to the first 2 runners. The latter 2 may fight for place.

Michele Marieci may need more distance to prove its credentials.

Fire Miss is looking fit. Can strike for the Sponsor of the feature event.

High Society - outside draw is an issue , horse is tracking well. Should easily place.



8. Aristos , Cabriolet , ShotGun.

Becket has the class being a multi classic Winner. Is conceding weight to many experienced horses which are in the fray. Not going to be easy. Last 2 WINS in Hyd were gift races and hence One has to go back to its bangalore form for reference. Rider compatibility matters a lot and frequent changes does not help. Trainer has been found lacking on many occasions.

Aristos - one of the most consistent horses in the circuit. Has done well even when it was carrying heavy impost. Can UPSET.

CABRIOLET - best from the Owners brigade.

Shot Gunn - what has it done till date ??? nothing much but the horse has capability and that may earn a Place spot.

Polish Patriot - will the trainer / owner try the DOOSRA ?? Has a honest jockey and the handicap but does the horse has the class to pull it off ???



9.Cougar , Madam Kileen , Kimaya.

Excelltastic will be the overwhelming favorite . Can shine but not my bet .

Cougar was seen in the front bunch when stable mate WON. After the double on Thursday , chances for Antia to strike are not rosy but worth a punt for the ODDS.

Madam Kileen is the horse which can UPSET


Best bet - Grant Park , Lunar Quest.

Chance bets - Our Chieftain , Great White , High Society , Aristos.

Christmas Day Choices

Bangalore was witness to some pathetic riding display on friday from the likes of
V Re Desouza and Paul Mulrennann .The champion rider of India H.G.Rathod was also suddenly in the news for all the wrong reasons .The bookies have no cause for complain and they must have been smiling after taking a pounding for several days.

as usual dubious trainers of bangalore ,who work in groups and perform in patches did have a role to play as Once a Double was achieved last week , they took it easy and put mediocre riders on fancied horses.Not surprising that all these lead to punters taken for a Royal ride.

these are views for the day , unable to sort out which is the best or worst in a few races -


1. Best to stay away as the options are unlimited .

Crown Vision is ridden by a mediocre rider. Cant be backed with confidence. WITHDRAWN

Swift Star the best bred but having some health issues is sparingly raced / tracked.

Moves Good Enough - ridden by the busiest jockey in the world , the all time favorite A.Imran Khan .

Day Time Trader - has no recent form

Recharged by default comes into contention the only issue being that it is sired
by Ittaquere Power the champion sire in the country for VB races and ridden by the most talent Jockey in India , Y S Srinath , not to forget the promising trainer whose Wins In the past 4 years have not crossed double digits.


at best One can go for a bet based on jockey merit on Swift Star .Though Crown Vision is speedy jockey capability is a ??
Now that Crown Vision is withdrawn the odds on Swift Star would be 30/100.So one may as well have a Good Lunch on Xmas holiday and attend from 3 rd race onwards.


2.simplest solution to GIFT Stake money was for the Trophy to be given in the paddocks .The punters would have been saved the misery of betting on long shots in the hope of making money as the favorite would not pay even 30/100 , the club could have saved on stationery on wasted tickets .

The only saving grace is that One Time OAKS Winner Jockey D Patel is making a comeback and he needs to be watched , he may be the next Retained Jockey for the stable.




3. another classic race in the offing -

Bridge of Gold is the best bred horse in the fray but the combination of Trainer / jockey seems to be wrong.WITHDRAWN

Rare Edition -the only saving grace is the Jockey.

Angel Queen - sensational trainer who always uses the services of third class jockeys for getting decent odds and then expects them to deliver . The only people accepting the bets with a big smile are the bookies. Horses are backed at race time as if the WIN is a formality or a Loss in unthinkable. Punters who follow Money trail , are caught in the trap and in most cases the Trainer would be collecting a part of the proceeds from the bookies.Only the owners and punters lose in the race.

Jack o Lantern - after Fruit King why will they LIGHT the Lantern for the punters , in all probability the horse may stop after 1200 metres.

so we are back to square One , deciding which Junk Jockey is preferable , Imran , Srinath or Vivek.Though the Trainer of Smart Edition is a dubious character , One has no choice but to go with S.John who partners the Horse.

4. Supremacy , Citrali,

Montedoro - poor bloodlines , even poorer choice of jockey.

Gift of Love - last run finished 11 / 11. So obviously cant finish 1/7 here

Citrali - Srinath was content allowing Owner MATE WIN in race 52 , letting a mediocre rider win First race of his career. Not sure what his antics here will be as the horse is not sighted in tracks.

Supremacy - lack of options makes him the frontline contender.



5.Valahak - days best odds permitting.

Place - Amiable Lady , Fleeting Spirit.

Based on its previous run the the LIKELY Winner is sighted one day in advance.

the First Bullet - what a combination the repair horse specialist trainer / owner leaving his 3 year old with the most experienced trainer.

Amiable Lady can place as the rest of the field os backward.

After noticing Sound Bet finishing ahead of Trillion WIN in race 70 , one can only guess the fate of the latter here.



6.Camelot , Oban , Scimitar.

Classerville - is not a all time classic in the league of Beckett or Jacqueline to win a race carrying 63 kgs , that too after several listless runs in mumbai , the last race it participated being in march 2010.

star assembly - jockey is one of the worst , equipment change is negative.

henry secret - no idea when it last Won.

Systematic - same as above , rider international class.

flaming lamborgini - 1400 would have been ideal , besides APPU has not WON a race for ages.

Blink - the less said the better , not the horse but the quality of trainer / jockey.

Criminal Lawyer - all those who backed it FOR WIN at even money last time are yet to come to terms with its BOARD out performance. Is Selvaraj better than Suraj , thats what Irfan Ghatala wants us to believe.

so we are left with 3 others horses which have found a place in the shortlisted LIST.


7.Best Time , Sher Dil , What a Friend.

JWDL entries should not be allowed. It only creates a space for Bookies to give misleading odds until race time. In any case Modern Art cant be considered as Padmanabhan is quite capable of flying down R.Shelar to do duty or alternatively ask Tony Bernard to accept the mount ?? Having the best riders yet unable to disclose the name on TIME IS a shame.

Sher Dil - may not have the class to participate here on genuine merit but when multiple entries and junk jockeys are the order of the day , better to go for thet he known devil.

Best time - hope the name is apt for the Jockey.

What a Friend - after trying luck with the likes of Shoban Babu and Querishi , the manipulative trainer has entrusted John to deliver the goods. Is it for the punters or bookies is anybody' s guess.


8.Hurricane Royal , Better than the Best , Youre My Life.

Segomo's last run was eye catching , with the trainer using Suraj to fund the bookies. Horse opened at 40/100 and closed at 65/100 and finished 7 th.Not a a bad deal , 7 th for 70/100 odds. And the only reason for the support ? it was bred as Astral Flash and ridden by the ace jockey.

Hurricane Royal - good chance , last run to be ignored due to the multiple disturbances during the race.

Better than the best - long way 2 nd in previous outing. Young Speedy jockey replaed by aged , non performer. Is the name APT ?? will be known after the race.

Your My Life -at best there are 2 jockeys willing to render service to Babu Rao at bangalore.If he is unable to decide which of them will is FIT to ride this Horse , its time he makes a come back and displays his SADDLE artistry as a Jockey.

To put it mildly the races scheduled for Saturday is JUNK .

1. Sky Rider , Fame and Glory , Trigger , Lad Fury.

3 of the above 4 have participated in the race WON by Adonis. Difficult to see reversal of standings as rider merit is visible on the Lad Fury. But as always there is no point in betting on a horse which offers HALF MONEY or less .

Fame and Glory ran well subsequently and lost to a superior horse but distance now seems a bit sharp and one cant expect APPU to deliver consistently.

Don Diego - First run after being Gelded.

Sky Glider has not been tested to its potential. Worth a each way bet.


2. Splendid Dancer , Fruit King , Classical Charm.

Vb race . Cant go by the previous runs of the horses.

Princess Coup is a consistent performer but at this handicap and with this Jockey looks difficult , though it has seen far better opposition.

Splendid Dancer ios being tracked often , a sign of willingness to TRY. Can WIN.

Fruit King - last run with a mediocre jockey has to be ignored. Field is full of non performers. Should place due to jockey merit.

3.Kalyan , Showers of Luck , Rip Van Winkle.


Rip Can Winkle after the change in stables gained FORM and WON a race at lucrative odds. The same horse was losing to mediocre horses under earlier trainer. Handicap is stiff but all non winners , can repeat as the rider is most competent at bangalore.

Showers of Luck , late bid 4 th in previous run. Rider is hardly seen on Winning horses . Can surprise.

Kalyan - Trainer keeping low , occupied with other pressing matters at Mysore , not sure if he will attend the races. Intent is always a ??? If on Job will be hard to beat.

Showers of Luck - place.


4.Rezoom , Kilimanjaro , Senor Speedy.

Deep Blue Sky , being run very often at all centres. Has done well in previous outing and has the champion rider doing duty but Horse may be a BIT Tired.

REZOOM - has beaten DBK earlier in Summer season . Rider is new to this course. Trainer is finding it difficult to WIN as he has been using some third class jockeys all through this season. Most of the horses are not prepared well. Hopefully this can come through.

Kilimanjaro - long layoff after the run in Magesterial race in Summer. Very well bred. Can upset.

Senor Speedy - running too early ?? runing over distance which may be testing its reserves. Can hope to place.

I go with Rezoom , as the odds are High , each way bet.


5.PreOrdained , Win Again , Brilliance.

As always the youngsters are quite open.

Going by the jockey merit these three may do well.

6.Royal Surprise , Anna , Prithvi.

If one goes through the record of - Delight of ASIA - renamed as Royal Surprise , it is clear that the horse was not allowed to run to potential after it changed stables. The Owner / Trainer was happy with just Laying the horse and recovering the Investment. Gets a bright chance here on Christmas Eve.

Anna - Winner , cant be ignored. Handicap looks stiff.

Prithvi - last run was positive with a work jockey. Not that Md Shafiq is any better. But can hope to place.

Anna conceding weight , so Royal Surprise it is.


7. Jodi ( Flame Back / Dance N Celebrate )

War Artist and Shahizaar will fight for minor placings.

One of the most atrocious rides on Flame Back was by Srinath in the previous outing. Has proved beyond doubt that he is past his prime. Can only hope to WIN in centres like Kolkata and Mysore where quality of Jockeys is not as good as other centres.

Dance N Celebrate - one big gamble failed last season after the horse was hampered for room . Subsequent runs are all to be ignored as incompetent jockeys were riding and there was no track work. Should do well if it takes a good jump.

Shahizaar - did well on debut. Can repeat and hope for a place spot.

Iam going with Flame Back .




Lad Fury Odds are not justified to consider as Days Best. It can /may WIN , but looking at return on investment , the only option is a negative bet.


Next Best - Royal Surprise.

Kainchi - Rezoom , Flame Back and PreOrdained.

5 races out of the 9 races framed for the day are for Horses in class V and 1 race is for Class IV. So one can guess what is in store . As is the case the top owners / trainer have given minuscule entries as they prefer to be in the limelight on SUNDAYS only.

And on the same lines the smaller fry give the maximum entries on Sunday to ensure a good Card but intent to do well is never visible as they are earmarked for the Biggies.


1. Lighting Cavalry , Monks Ferrari.

Rodrigo will be the universal favorite based on its 3 rd to Equality. A repair case running as favorite ??

Our Little Angel - Trainer must be content with the WIN achieved on Thunder Strike a few weeks ago.

That leaves us with 3 entries from the Champion Trainer M.P.Jodha.
Feminist will in any case finish in bottom 2 , leaving us with Lighting Cavalry and Monks Ferrari.Lighting Cavalry is a double demotee with no recent form where as Monks Ferrari WON a race in the same class in Pune.



2.Divine Majesty , Houdini , Bemisaal.

Bemisaal is ridden by P.S.Chouhan , intent to WIN is not visible.

So that leaves us with the other 2 runners .

McQueen is still being tried with " S " shoes , must not be ready for the gamble. When it is ready the trainer will put " A " shoes and it will gallop to Victory.

Golden Orra is at bottom handicap. Can place , as last run was forward over 1400.



3.Marudhara Ratan , Tysea , Fascination.

Mystic Temple may have support based on its 4 th in race 50. May fund the bookies,

Fascination is back to parent centre where its always tried. Can do well.

Tysea is the youngster in the race. Last run was very bad. Can hope to place again.

Marudhara Ratan - is capable of springing a surprise .



4.Wild Imagination , Surmount , Stud of Gold.

Wild Imagination lost at the post to the First lady. Should be able to WIN here.

Stud of Gold is ridden by a now forgotten Jockey. Field is poor. Can hope to place.

Surmount is aged , but has WON a race in this calendar year unlike other horses.



5. Elizibeth , Ocean Wish.

Both have beaten Star of Venus. One in pune and one in mumbai.

Handicap is in favour of the former , jockey merit is obviously with the latter.

The odds on both the horses would be less , if Solor / Star Treasure gift has to be reversed then this may be the race.

2 bogus entries from S N Joshi else the race would have gone void. Will get a GIFT race some time during this month.




6. Swept Away , Silver Soul.

Wild Torronaado looks very difficult due to the handicap.

Beyond Star can be compensated with Swept Away,

Kiss Away has a handicap chance due to the presence of many non triers.


7.Show Stopper , Floods of Fortune.

Ocean Admiral has been pretty inconsistent. Just 1 Win in Pune , subsequent efforts all in vain.

Show Stopper is conceding weight , but has the class to beat the fancied runners. Hope Lagad is positive.

Floods of Fortune failed as a favorite. Can at best place as distance seems sharp.Owners had a lucrative GIFT double on Sunday.



8. Grand Warrior , Midnight Club , Marine Zone.,

Limited options , if Swept Away wins the 6 th race the obvious double is on Grand Warrior.

Midnight Club , last run was below expectations. Should place here.

Most of the other runners have no surface form and are not seen consistently on tracks.



9. Marigold , Sun Kissed , Rising Glory.

except the Rebel , the others have not done well in the recent past. The aged Rebel does well only in pune and amongst these runners may find it difficult to even place.

Marigold does well over the sprint distance. Handicap is attractive and has the best credentials.

Sun Kissed can place .

Rising Glory is there by default.

There are a lot of entries in the name of the Injured Trainer Ravishankar , not sure who will deputise on his behalf . Guessing game on intentions. if the odds are very high one can always take a small chance. If they are in the odds , safer to ignore.


1. New Pastures , Gentle Legend , Passage of time.

Passage of time is a failed favorite and has the best Jockey , yet to win a race. Sizzling Star and Killer foot are well placed on relative handicapping as both of them have finished 3 rd when Passage of time was 2 nd. Difficult to see the same horses finishing in the frame. On merit Passage of time has a decent chance , odds may be not be very ideal to start off the days proceedings.

Gentle Legend - tracking well. may have a say in the finish.

New Pastures - has had a run this season having placed 5 th in race # 10. Is 1 of the 2 horses with MINUS rating ?? trainers of both horses playing games with the handicapper.


2. Analika , Star News , Record Time.

difficult to spot the main contenders here as a lot of them are conceding weight.I prefer to go with the horses which are better placed on handicap , may not be the best horses but can do well , jockey willing.


3.Bee for you , Prince of Argyle , Pokeman Master , Faustian.

Bee for You if ridden in check can do well.

Prince of Arglye is speedy , last effort was commendable. Can hope to place again.

A run to remember , after a enquiry on its running in # 2 , the trainer decided to take it easy and all subsequent runs were dubious as it was not taken to the front as is the usual case. Coming from the main circuit the horse is vastly superior. and has the services of a good rider . Can shine.


4.Aaj Tak , Wimbeldon Star , Authoritative.

Jockey merit is lacking on the last named horse. Looks difficult for WIN.

Aaj Tak is at the bottom of the scales and should WIN . Rest depends on Intent. Owner ( who is also a trainer ) is in Mysore to attend other pressing matters.

Wimbeldon Star - last run was decent. Can place.


5. Faction Leader , Green Vision, Refuse to bend.

Too many interconnected horses. the last time Satin Slipper won the rider was CHISTY and he is back at the same handicap. Too many bogus runs in between.

Refuse to bend - was it the last winner for the deceased A.R.Mani ?? Can come good if the rider is upto the task.

Faction Leader - should easily place. Rider is known to do well for this Trainer. Race time odds will give fair indication of its chances.

Green Vision , stable change subsequent to trainer suspension for dope offenses. Linked horse is likely to be the favorite. Not sure if this will be tried. On Merit it is superior to Satin Slipper.


6.Mister Trooper , Bridge Too far , Secret Fury.

Jericho after last week WIN looks difficult for WIN again. Distance and handicap are both appearing to be stiff.

Bridge too far is ridden by a novice who is yet to taste success. Can upset .

Secret Fury - demotee , trainer has many entries in the race. Is superior to the rest of the runners but handicap may hamper its chances.


7.Cationic , the World is Mine , All for Cash.

Youngsters have the edge in this race.

Last run of Cationic under adverse weather and with APPU has to be ignored.

World is Mine , last run was forward , should easily place.

All for Cash - for once a Darashah / Ryan Marshal combination obliged in its previous outing. Far superior field here. May place


8.Lotus Pond , Ohiyesa , Guided Missile / Evanston.

Ohiyesa , came a close 2 nd to Incredible a Horse which is 3 classes superior to the Horses running here. Yet it also lost to Guided Missile in the earlier season. Reflects poorly on the trainer who is known to hook horses royally. Difficult to go by its performance in the Incredible race.

Lotus Pond - has been quite impressive right through . At this handicap a good each way bet.

Evanston / guided missile - one of them should place.


9.Much More , Gambit , King Adler.

Could go any which way as there are many contenders in this race.
Jockey merit is not visible on most runners.


10. Arabian Speed , Ansonia , Hakuna Matata.

Ignored all top handicap horses as it may be difficult to sustain.

If I have to get the photo of the Top Jockeys in India the Internet is full of them , rejoicing on their WINS.Some of the featured articles are brought out by the Owners who have retained them and the rest are on their accomplishments. But if it is related to a lesser known Jockey , there is no visible news report leave aside the photos of the Jockeys , and frankly most punters are not even aware of how the Jockey looks.The JOCKEY'S features in the above photo is itself not full and clear.

Jockey A.R.Manu , Passed away on Monday subsequent to the injuries sustained during the last race on 15 th December at Mysore on a Horse named Imperio. Sadly the horse which was a recent import was partly responsible for HIS death as it suffered a massive cardiac arrest and collapsed and in the resulting action after the jockey was thrown off , one of the oncoming horses passed him over.

Mani , started off from bangalore as an apprentice and was associated with the stables of Manglorkars , Darashah and Samar Singh.After riding his 40 winners he did some freelancing with various stables. He also had the chance to try his skills in Mumbai and did land some lucrative gambles for small time Trainers like Anil Kumar and S.N.Joshi in Mumbai. Winning in Mumbai is no mean task and that too when the Horses are from the smaller stables.

After some point of time , the Winning mounts was down to a trickle and the slide started . He was content riding at Mysore .Must have WON a few races in the recent past for the likes of Trainer Natraj and Tejaswi for whom he was a regular for the past couple of years . Whether he lost his sparkle after being discarded by the Bangalore based trainers or he lost his interest in racing as a Jockey is not known but to see riding for some dud trainers was a pity as he was capable of much more. He did prove his mettle initially as a youngster but as is the case with all these Jockeys , Luck plays a vital role in their career. You get noticed by a Big owner and your future is made as your well being is taken care off. If not you are at the mercy of the dubious trainers who utilise the services only to Hook horses when it is the favorite . Most of the times these jockeys have nothing to do , except sit on the horse and complete the course.

If the Owner and Trainer have not Invested / gambled on the horse the Instructions are very clear , keep to the tail end. And Jockey A.R.Mani was used by most of he Trainers in Mysore for precisely that. His potential to WIN RACES was never exploited and thats the sad part which will be reflected in his career record. The accident in Mysore was a one off incident unlike the Hyderabad causalities which have more to do with the track conditions. The last such incident was many years ago and it was the death of a rider ( M swamy ) who used to ride for I.Ghatala .

as regular punters most of us must have had a bet on some of his mounts .In all probability , most of us must have been losers as off late he did not have any Winners. We may have cursed him or the trainer or the horse after the race , that is the usual attitude of all punters. We always look to make Money at the expense of one another. Sadly a Jockey lost his life .There have been many others at other centres like Yogendra Singh , S.S.Bhati , Kavan Kariappa , Suresh , Madhu Kumar and Pramod Goud. None of them were high profile jockeys and the death would hardly receive any news coverage. How many fellow Jockeys from across the country will be able to pay their respects ?? Not many , except for the Locals stationed at Mysore and some officials from the Jockeys association .That's it and the event goes on.
If the death was of a high profile jockey like Karl Umrigar then the leading lights of indian racing be it the Jockeys , trainers , owners , breeders or administrators will highlight his achievements annually . But for the likes of
A.R MANI , the club will institute a memorial cup and will pose for the customary PHOTO at the end of the race

May his Soul rest in peace.

Hyd - monday - 20 th december

Some choices for the day -

1.Askioz is conceding weight to both Lambourn and Juliet after being favorably placed in earlier outing.So logically the Horse cant WIN.

So its a toss up between Lambourn and Juliet.



2.Talking Picture has the best credentials but will be running at Low odds.

Golden Palace will be the default contender.

Castle Rook is ridden by Laxman who has better credentials than the Jockey on Thirteen Black.


3.Youngsters

Danny cant be considered for even place. Dubious Trainer and Jockey.

Kohinoor blizzard is the best bred - worth a each way bet.

Celandine -did nothing in earlier runs ridden by mediocre Rawal , how can it WIN just by changing the SHOES and the Jockey ??

Yours Truly , siblings have done well earlier in this centre

Rebels Angel - is the dark horse here.


4.Easy Strides , Royal Scotsman.

any other contenders over the mile trip ??


5.Walnut Creek , Commanding Heights , Metaforce.

Can the change in Odds extract a Winning Performance from the second named horse . Last outing finished a dismal 3 rd after starting as race time favorite.

Young Soldier is again entrusted to a DUBIOUS Jockey by this Trainer.Jockey who had Won in its earlier effort has not been considered though his presence is confirmed at Malakpet.

Walnut Creek - the long rest would have helped matters. Does have a chance to WIN.


6.Ashleen State , Queen of Habashe , Drayton.

Limited options.

Alberton Star is superior but has negative change in equipment.

My Tyson is woefully out of form displayed in Monsoon.

Drayton - Jockey cant be trusted to deliver to WIN , can at least hope to place.


7. Caligatae ,Greek Fire , Coral Gables.

Hope the trainer retires Coral Gables on compassionate grounds at the end of this year. the horse has been tortured enough.

Caligatae has in the recent past lost to some very very mediocre Horses in the lower class but suddenly showed signs of being a classy horse when Ridden by this Jockey. Handicap is in favour.

Greek fire - chance bet.

Kings Cruise - not sure why the trainer had to bring in this Jockey from Mumbai JUST for this race as this horse has not performed well in class I.


8.Firstandforemost , Auburn Star , Alexander Square.

Can go any which way.

PS - rogue jockeys like T.C.MCLAUGHIN are called to Hyderabad by Dubious Trainers to Hook horses and that was very much visible on Sunday when this Jockey lost on three fancied horses. Two of them were trained by ANUPAM SHARMA who has the knack of Winning only at attractive odds.

Jabel Queen was quoted at 55/100 and the Winner was the Himalayas , which was offered at 20 to 1 and trained by the same guy. And Jabel Queen was not sighted at the all important Winning post.

Another failed favorite from the same combination was Mission Chief , which again DID not even Place. Surprisingly the Hyderabad race club has allowed the Horse to compete on Monday again over over 1400 metres and the same rider is seen.

The third casualty from this Jockey was Good Shot which some how managed to finish 2 nd. All the three horses were not given the best of rides and the punters who back them based on the previous performance have been literally taken for a RIDE.

Not that i am complaining as being race time favorites there was only One BET which was visible and that was LAYING the favorite . Just a word of caution to those who bet on Horse merit without realising the consequences.

and for the record Trainer S.Abbas was seen at BTC on saturday , during the entire racing schedule from 1.30 pm to 5 pm , he was besotted with a controversial bookie who is known for his very links with jockeys and owners.Hoep they were not discussing the weather.
